A few people profited on both sides, Zoe Quinn being one of them. Profited handsomely, even. Even though nearly all of their reputations have taken massive nosedives, however, they're still making income (well, except for Milo) because of GamerGate, mostly through Patreons and Kickstarters which deliver little-to-no content. But anyone who came out of GG better than Zoe she REEEEEs at.

In the case of ComicsGate, so far the only people to really profit are the CGers, with oddly enough Waid and his 'funds for my lawsuit', and Ren with her 'I only want the attention and to rage about people' being the two main anti-CGers who have profited. And since Waid should lose the lawsuit or at least have to settle, he'll not actually profit, while Ren is only being paid in attention and will likely turn into anti-CG's Nora Reed or worse, so it's hard to see how CG isn't winning.

Unless you count self-congratulation, sanctimony, and circle-jerking as currency. Because anti-CG is generating a great deal of those.

Of course, as mentioned earlier, many of the Antis are just industry people paid a pittance (I remember reading somewhere, that someone who works at Marvel don't even make Janitor salary. In NYC, a notoriously expensive place to live, that must be especially painful) to produce stuff for Marvel, DC, and Co. that they don't even own. And I sincerely think the fact CG people are making actual, decent money is a big unspoken point of anger amongst them. After all, they work for the big names, why aren't they making the big bucks like these alt right blumpftards?

The off-the-scales jealousy isn't even hidden. It's most obvious with EVS, where they're not just mad that he's making money on it, they have a vicious, puerile jealousy like Salieri in Amadeus born from the fact they're aware on some level they are talentless, worthless garbage artists and he is vastly more talented than they are and he knows it and isn't at all interested in kowtowing to his obvious inferiors.

And in the case of Meyer, look how their rage intensified after he actually created better than they do himself. He isn't even an artistic genius by any stretch, but when these turds said "let's see you do better" he did better easily. The tard rage has been immense.

It is from small and spiteful people who know that merit has nothing to do with their status as "comics professionals" and that they're a bunch of talentless diversity hires whose main skill is being willing to work for virtually nothing in a dying industry.

The only ones I can think of are the Ralph Retort and One Angry Gamer. One is defunct and the other is the right wing version of Reset Era except with more anime tiddies. Also One Angry Gamer went full pizzagate. You never go full pizzagate.

BasedGamer launched and flopped, idk if Tech Raptor preexisted GG or just tried to capitalize when it started, but they don't seem to be hitting on much anymore. Then as far as making games, that RogueStar asshole did that space game that was just a full priced tutorial, and other than a bunch of ideas people on KiA were kicking around that was the only one I had seen get even that far.

We're derailing, but tl;dr is even if CG is an easier way to profit from Le Culture War, they're at least attempting whereas GG was almost entirely nothing but talk from the start. So there's something.
 
GamerGate did have it's own games journalism with black jack and hookers. YouTubers. One of the reasons journalists were so mad was "pro-GG" people like Total Biscuit were gaining subscribers while the games press burned. These days it seems like people get their news and reviews from Yong Yea, ACG, GggManLives, Joseph Anderson, Sid Alpha, and many other YouTubers and Twitch streamers. These people were around before GG so they weren't made for that reason, but they were the games journalism alternative people went to.

Another important point is that ComicsGate is comics creators. In GG it was the press. Most developers worth a damn were silent on GG and for good reason. They didn't want their careers destroyed like Tim Soret (The Last Night dev) and Brad Wardell (Stardock CEO falsely accused of rape and now facing frivolous lawsuits). There was little to gain by joining the slap fight. If the various anonymous interviews are anything to go by then most devs were pro-GG or simply didn't care. Any of the alleged devs in the clique had no chance of being hired in a AAA company to begin with, and afterwards they were considered too toxic to be given any real power.

It's far easier and cheaper to make a comic book than it is a game. That's why the GG clique was mostly limited to playing pretend with walking simulators, quick time events, and glorified web pages. You could argue games like Kingdom Come, The Witcher 3, Senran Kagura, A Hat In Time, and Hatred were pro-GG games, but that's more politically incorrect games that refused to bend the knee to game journalists.

Dude, just because I said it's pro quality doesn't mean I think it's good, I called the items I was comparing it to shit. That this is comparable at all to the top companies in this industry at all is disgusting and proves why the whole edifice should be just kicked down.

I dunno? While never noted for his art, as opposed to his writing, I think Frank Miller was far better at drawing Carol Danvers than any modern artist?

Unfortunately this probably means no fun deposition transcripts or videos. Probably because Waid realizes, correctly, that these would be humiliating and would reveal him to be the complete asshole he is. Also since he's unlikely to be able not to spill his spaghetti completely, it could have a hilarious chimpout in it.

Blame competent lawyers being involved.

No sign of that loser Mark Zaid although his name is still on it.
