All in all RE4R seems like it's shaping up well and I say that as someone that wishes an "RE4 Remake" was using the original Spencer castle premise.

But of course that was never going to happen as the Las Plagas version is too popular, but maybe if there's an RE5 remake it can be a completely new game with a new setting that borrows from those original ideas and gives us a better showdown with Wesker and Spencer?

After all I can see Capcom wanting to keep coming out with REmakes, but avoiding Africa as the setting for PC reasons.

Basically the Lost in Nightmares DLC is what the whole of 5 should have been, they could greatly expand on all that for a RE5R.

Give me a start date for NuCapcom

Modern vidya industry has gotten really retarded with it recently with only using the same couple of people but it feels like Capcom has been about direct body work for a while. Especially if you look at all of the Rueben Langdon DMC mocap stuff

Actually, Lost Planet would indeed be the start of "NuCapcom" imo.

The end of the golden age of Capcom was 2006, with games like Dead Rising, Okami and God Hand, Lost Planet seemed distinctly bland to me and lacking the "spark" their prior games had.

Indeed, Lost Planet was a generic sci fi shooter in a sea of them, such a stark contrast with what they were coming out with just a year prior.

It's a shame because they hit the ground running so hard with DR for the 7th gen, but belly flopped quickly after, who knows what was going on or what the inside story is, but it always stunk to me that DR2 took 4 years to come out and was developed by a western team instead of the original Japanese team (but turned out ok, though the same can't be said for the rest of the sequels)

DMC4 was ok, which was 2008, but certainly by the time of RE5 the golden age was over.

In hindsight that's something that bugged me about the castle in the original, that there was seemingly nothing like what was in the prototype game. Not the dolls or hook man, just unnerving creepy shit which is not present at all. It's just traversing room to room doing puzzles and taking out hordes. There's no atmosphere really either.

Which is a shame since it's probably the best looking segment of the game. The basement with the Novistadors is great though and I hope they keep in the horrific face melt death animation.

I found a better video for the gameplay from game informer. It cuts out the obnoxious commentary and replaces it with music. You can hear the in-game audio at moments where the commentator wasn’t speaking.

Watching through that again, now that it was pointed out, I can't help but think they made Ashley look way too old for the character. She's got lines between her eyebrows. Like did they make her close to 30? And Luis's actor is so BAD it's distracting.

I think that's the first I've seen the merchant and I'm glad he and his menus really aren't any different and the upgrades work the same. "Handgun" is now SG-09, for "Silver Ghost" which in some of the RE4 supplement material, you find out Kendo's brother made his gun for him. https://residentevil.fandom.com/wiki/Silver_Ghost

Yeah, I remember looking at Lost Planet and being like "this looks so fucking bland and generic"
Lost Planet was one of their big pushes for westernized garbage.
Indeed, Lost Planet was a generic sci fi shooter in a sea of them
Behead all those that insult Lost Planet.
Yeah it has its flaws and it could be said to have been the start of the western push of Capcom and proto-cinematic garbage but godamn it it was comfy.
2006 shooter with grappling hook, mecha combat, shoot the red spot for extra damage, and some compelling multiplayer.
Lost Planet didn't succeed because it wasn't edgy enough for its era and it wasn't advertised with Mad World.

Ludex did it again and this is now his best one. It's crazy how on the money it is.

In my opinion Lost Planet was like a great 16bit shoot'em'up that traveled through time and ended up in a new dimension. Imagine it as a demake of itself and it starts to look like an icy Gunhazard, Cybernator or Blaster Master.

The problem with lost planet is that it was awesome to fight the bugs. Think monster hunter with guns, but more often then not you were fighting boring ass human enemy's.

If I can't look up Ashley's skirt, I'm going to be very upset.
That's definitely not going to happen, or if so she'll berate you in a genuine feminist tirade and the bronze trophy "Problematic Sexist Bigot" will pop.
I have to see some actual post-launch gameplay with different outfits before I can give CapCom credit for "potentially" bringing back ballistic-physics for Ashley (I swear REmake3 lowkey had them). As for her panties, yeah they won't be touching that in our current twatter world. Luis simply commenting on her well-endowed figure was apparently too hot for RE4VR. Even if they did it for like a one off cutscene, Ashley's now wearing those safe cop out pantyhose so no fun allowed for the boys, meanwhile the girls get enlarged and uncensored Leon triceps... I love the double standards of the "progressive" age.

I never thought I'd say this but I'm feeling cautiously optimistic for the RE4 Remake.
It's a completely unnecessary remake but it looks like the gameworld and enemies are intact, at least for a huge chunk of the village they've shown. I can tolerate other shit I don't like about it since it's just nitpicks right now. At it's core it's the RE4 experience and that's what it needs to be. Don't reinvent the wheel and just build it in the same framework, while adding to it like something akin to REmake. They've shown a lot more than I thought they would of the game before release and I think it's to quell concerns this isn't another 3make turd.

I have hopes for the physics. Forgive the fact that it's a twitch clip
