All this talk about rape in the Red Letter Media thread makes me want to do a sex crime pool with the RLM crew. If anyone from RLM turns out to be a sex pest—Tim Higgins or Josh Davis—Higgins comes across as self-destructive enough that he wouldn’t care if he got caught with CP. Josh Davis outright looks like a male feminist who would give women date rape drugs. It wouldn't be surprising if concerning issues arose related to Macaulay Culkin, given his screwed up childhood. If it’s Red Letter Media, a dead pool. Josh Davis, hands down.

i really give it maybe 2 more years at most before AI is "normalized" because of how often some random video some shithead made ends up being better than what the "media literacy" types can say or do. AI is going to do for video content what mixers did for music. Electronica could in theory be made without the instruments the same way that stranger things video could in theory have been made with a group of people and a budget coming together to knock it out and post it online the next day. but AI means someone can just do it on their own near instantly and its gets the point across in a way RLM or other channels would take 10 minutes to do.

from what i've noticed a lot of "alcoholics" are literally using it as a crutch, like Jim Norton, the booze has nothing to do with how much they suck, its just a way to avoid it. the same way in the 1900s you'd have people go "oh i can't drink tequila/Jägermeister because i get violent" when its not a specific type of booze making them that way, they just are that way.

beyond that just writing it down and getting out your feelings is theraputic, its a good chunk of why talk therapy "is effective" and why its a destressing technique to "write down your feelings in a letter" and then never send it.

if you expand it out to babysitters you have numerous movies and tv shows about it. The Bernie Mac show is about him technically adopting his sisters kids, but its obvious he doesn't really like them beyond being family. Two and a half men has a similar premise. My wife and kids had the dad barely tolerating his kids foolishness, same with George Lopez. Lopez i'd say was better because he resents his mom which is the obvious next step to being raised by someone that treats you like shit. the cult classic Clifford is him outright resenting the kids, and i swear rugrats had an episode that was a ripoff of it. Almost every show with kids has at least one episode of someone using them to help out with a promotion or relationship. Saved by the bell did it too. like does Jay just not watch any media? its one of the most cliched ideas for a sitcom. even the office did it and its literally set in a place where kids shouldn't be. it reminds me of how rashida jones complained that no tv shows feature a bumbling dad, and they're always "father knows best" like almost every sitcom after the 1990s had a dipshit dad and a mom that treats like him crap. You'd have to be retarded to not realize how cliche the concept is.

I agree with your point about Jay, but Mommie Dearest wasn't laughed at because it was cliched. It was laughed at because it was way over the fuckin' top.
