not once. sometimes i see a clip from the prequels that is not in the reviews and it catches me off guard. there's a really weird feeling when you're super super familiar with something and then it does something new.
You should watch them just to get the actual experience instead of watching a secondary source. My personal opinion is that they are very, very mid movies that are over hated. It really explains just how entitled people who sung "George Lucas raped my childhood" are.

There are about 2 and a half "good" Star Wars movies. A handful of mediocre ones, and the rest of them are utterly terrible.

It's an odd trilogy. To me Phantom Menace was laughably bad, the script a disaster. Clone Wars was much better, dare I say '''fun''' at times, but felt like it was aimed at 12 year olds. Revenge of the Sith is my least watched, because it's the most competent of the films which kind of means it's boring (and the script had issues again, just not ones that made it fun to riff off of). I agree they're over hated, and the reaction to them in retrospect should have been a sign of the dangers of rampant fandom.

Speaking of the plinkett reviews though, does anyone remember the rebuttal videos done by some autiste who used some kind of water creature as his branding? I know this is a vague as fuck description, but I have my fingers crossed.

Yep. Empire Strikes Back, Battle for Endor, and Caravan of Courage (it's the half because the lumberjack ewok is only in half of it).

I know of this guy but I don't see rebuttals.

Sheev did more of a rebuttal in his autism.

Isn't the second one called Attack of the Clones? I'm pretty sure Clone Wars was some cartoon spinoff.

As bad as Phantom Menace was, it's in that so bad it's watchable category. The second movie with Emo Skywalker and attempts at a romance plot are too much for me to endure. Having Yoda fight like a crack monkey is also particularly egregious. I'm sure there are more things horribly wrong with the movie, but my brain has intentionally drown itself in cleansing alcohol over the years to scrub as much of the film from my memory as possible. I can already feel myself wanting another beer just typing this post.

Nope, not that guy. The videos i'm thinking of are easily a decade old.

Yeah, you're right about the name of the film. Making my stuff up even more funny is that I don't think I ever saw the animated film. My favourite mistake from Attack of the Clones is a continuity error with Padme, in one scene she gets a vicious cut all the way down her back. 5 minutes later she's rolling in the sand with her back to the camera and it's absolutely fine. Just an absurd error for a film with so much money thrown at it.

One of you has to take a bullet on The King Tide and report back. I don't trust them on their film takes anymore.
The King Tide was genuinely very good. It is slow and atmospheric and small scale, like they said, so don't go in expecting a flashy horror movie. I can't imagine that any Kiwifarms users would have any serious complaints about it, besides maybe thinking it is boring.
It is not a woke movie. There is one native-looking guy on the island but they don't make a big deal about it.

Episode 3 was basically what we expected episode 1 to be like. And in general if the whole trilogy was just an expanded episode 3 it would work. Sperg Lucas deciding obi-wan needs to be the reason the clone wars starts and that episode 1 needs to exist at all is part of why he sucks. Barely anything from the EP1 era is mentioned even in extended canon.

You are a lucky man.

They are garbage and these zoomers that are coming out recently and claiming they were actually good all along are both blinded by nostalgia and are comparing them to the dogshit disney trilogy.

The first 2 are especially a slog to get through.
Well I was like five when the Phantom Menace came out and thought it was pretty fun. Didn't understand the plot at all, had no idea what the fuck a viceroy or space taxes were, but the pod-racing and Naboo fighters were cool. Probably also helped that late 90's/early 2000's Lego sets were the peak.

I feel like it's at least better than The Last Jedi that just features Admiral Pink Hair fucking over everyone.

The Prequels were a good idea executed poorly.
The Sequels were a terrible idea executed horrendously.
Th Prequels were already a bad idea that had already been ground to death by shit like the Star Wars expanded universe novels. Nothing about why Vader became Vader was necessary to show outside the original trilogy.

they spent like 400 million dollars on art design and marketing for the prequels that lucasarts re-used for dozens of video games and television shows. i don't think there has ever been a multimedia franchise with that much effort put into it in the history of consumerism. there's so much shit going on that "but it sucks" starts to get pushed off the table by sheer quantity over quality so much that the vague racism just comes off as running out of ideas.

there's so much random shit that you dont even remember from the prequels. they coulda made an entire game about this little guy and it probably would have been great

except episode 3 also sucked hard. im tired of hearing spergs try to salvage that as the one silver lining of the horrible sequels. they all sucked, there is nothign in episode three which elevates it above the rest of the prequel garbage.

similar. i was a kid when the first one came out and i didnt understand any of the political stuff, and ignored all teh boring talking. i just thought star wars was cool. robots, lasers, spaceships, and jedi is what i cared about.

agreed. we dont need complex backstories for villains. sometimes a simple story where the bad guy is bad guy because he is the bad guy is just fine. i grew up watching the originals just fine without ever knowing vader's back story.

They did make a game about the Pit Droids, it was this neat puzzle game I remember playing on the family computer.

Let's compare these to the Transformers films. That’s what we're dealing with: over-the-top action nonsense. I really don’t get where people (mainly pre-9/11 millennials) are coming from when they claim the prequels have some kind of Shakespearean depth.

star wars is low tier schlock sure but its fundamentally a hollywood drama like a world war 2 movie or a western, its not an adventure movie in the likes of indiana jones. which is where the movie mechanically starts to fall apart because the spectacle of the location is one of the things star wars has going for it and making it the backdrop for the drama is one of the reasons why the movies start to crumble on examination.

however it does mean that drama is the thing that propels every scene in those movies. it's melodramatic and a bit retarded but its extremely genuine and the character arc of annakin probably resonates deeply with a lot of young people because the whole 'republic is crumbling' backdrop is kind of the exact same narrative the propaganda complex started pushing on young men at some point, just go on twitter and you'll see people complaining about thanklessly supporting a regime that does nothing but insult their capability.
