It was always fun going to their website, then clicking on videos and hey! they uploaded one since yesterday. Just a more natural type of environment, and this was in '10-11, before people could even be considered youtubers. I even remember when Blip was doing that "we will block the video for 120 seconds or you can turn off adblock and watch a 30 second ad" and of course I wouldn't turn off adblock just as a fuck you.

I wish they would do more commentaries.
God, I forgot about that. I distinctly remember turning off my adblock a single time when that first popped up, and I was so annoyed by whatever ad they served me that I immediately turned it back on. I just swapped to a different tab and browsed 4chan or something for a couple minutes until the video started.

Aside from that, it was a pretty good video host until it shut down. I had to look it up to refresh my memory, but they got bought out by Maker Studios in 2013, and shortly afterward they changed their TOS to enforce the idea that it was solely a platform for "high quality serial content." All they ended up doing was chasing away a chunk of their userbase by terminating their channels for not living up to the demands, and then going under two years after the acquisition. I'm sure there's a market for that kind of thing (look at how many multi-hour video essays keep getting uploaded to YouTube), but not enough to support a whole video platform.

The Blip years were great. Does anyone else remember how once you finished watching their most recent video, it would loop back and autoplay the very first upload which just so happened to be the Care Boars short? And if you forgot, your ears would be assaulted by that Casio-ass rendition of Jingle Bells. Good times.

Patreon Update:

Hey everyone! We've got several videos in various stages of planning and/or shooting. We're working on a re:View for the 90s cult movie The Dark Backward starring Bill Paxton as the filthiest person alive and Judd Nelson as a failing stand up comedian who grows a third arm out of his back (guess which two hosts are talking about that one). We're also going to be doing a new Wheel of the Worst very soon. And finally, another trivia video! Not Star Trek again this time though! We also have another project that's kind of simmering in the background but it's still in the early planning stages. It may involve ghosts.

I would love to see the guys do an actual and somewhat earnest ghost hunting episode where they overnight in some spooky place.

The issue was when Maker got bought out by Disney, who had no interest in using Blip beyond the video player which would later be upgraded into the Disney+ player. They were also the ones who changed the TOS.

Maker had these grand designs of actually making content and made promises to Blip's biggest creators. They were going to fund a second Cinema Snob movie, produce a show with Rooster Teeth, revamp the Channel Awesome and Chez Apocalypse websites, and get them onto YT under their League of Super Critics channel. Then Disney came in and scrapped everything not already done. The only ones that happened was the YT channel, which had its contributors locked into a three year contract that earned them WAY less than they were making on their channels (They complained about it a lot), and The Gauntlet from Rooster Teeth.

Eventually Disney lost interest in the whole thing and shut it down, much to the ire of Channel Awesome's lesser contributors who were unable to compete on youtube.

Jay and Josh.

Woo. I can’t wait to see a noncontextualized clip from the film cut to Jay saying some stuff, and then see Josh’s eyes dart away from Jay while he frowns and considers whether Jay’s statement contains any problematic content, before returning his gaze to Jay while summoning an approving “smile” by imagining he’s brushing his teeth, and then finally nodding like a Mormon taking someone’s McDonald’s order while he force-laughs a “Yeah. Uh-uh.” Then Jay will say something else during a cut to more movie footage.

I’m surprised we don’t see more from this pairing - Just press “record” and watch those two go.

I'm hoping they're going to review the new Breen movie on Wheel of the Worst, or make it a gag where they're watching something horrible and then the UPS guy delivers the Breen movie and they stop everything to watch it. Looks even more terrible than before, all eyes on Breen.

I've got to be honest, I have no idea what any of this means. Why is Josh thinking of brushing his teeth? Are Mormons known for working at McDonald's and nodding all the time?

I do agree that Josh usually offers next to nothing to the conversations though. I'm not a fan of re:Views that include him, it doesn't help that most of the time it's movies I don't care about. One of the ones I did like was the Joe vs. the Volcano, and that one had the weird pairing of him and Canadian Jim.

Oh i was more complaining about the movie watching consumers really, cinemas are fine where i live and My city has a populaton of 1.4 million, but some stories that i hear from my american friends about theaters are basically horror tier and everyone wouldve physically thrown out the mom/daughter from the room here. My point was more about how retarded the audiences are today, their nigger-brain commentary wasnt obnoxiously loud and didnt take away from my enjoyment cause Napoleon is already really really bad.

on good and/or niche movies those people dont even show up so it kinda self regulates, you get trash mid iq people if you make trash mid iq movies.

You don't know the half of it friend, I went to my local cinema this weekend and let me tell you it was a hassle.

I have an understanding with the usher there, he lets me skirt by the no singles policy because I tip very well and always pass penis inspection with flying colors, but this time they had a different usher so I had to bribe a homeless man to be my plus one. Needless to say he did terrible on the penis inspection which made me look bad! So I had to leave a hefty tip for the usher to keep it on the low.

So we get to the concession stand and I'm not even able to purchase my crab legs because this bum has a seafood allergy, so I just get some popcorn and chow for my falcon. Tip the concession stand operator and make my way to my seat.

The falcon belonging to the guy infront of me would not stop shouting during the pledge of allegiance which was very disrespectful to the troops, not cool. To top it all off the designated shooter started shooting in the middle of Madame Webs quip! I didn't even get to hear it! I deducted this from his tip of course.

The last movie I went to see in a theater was Logan. Had a trio of old women behind me squacking the entire movie with one laughing hysterically when Logan has his breakdown in the middle of the movie. Yeah, I like streaming a lot more now.

i recently watched cade's crossing. in my opinion it is his laziest movie ever. every single scene is filmed in front of a green screen, not a single shot on location scene that i can recall. it's like what plinket complained about george lucas just drinking coffee and shooting in front of a green screen in the attack of the clones review, but even worse. and there is even more stock footage than his previous movies too.

most scenes are mostly filler too. very little happens in each scene. he was lazy writing it, lazy filming it, lazy editing it.

honestly it is his most boring movie. at least his previous movies were fun in a bad way, this one is just lackluster and a big disappointment. i dont think the rlm guys will enjoy it like they did double down or twisted pair. i was let down by our lord and savior neil breen.

There is no fucking way Rich isnt buying overly large shirts for comedic effect at this point, right?

thats a fucking tent hanging off him. look at how big those arm holes are, theres no way thats just an old shirt of his.
