Only tangentially related to RLM, but the LA Times today (paywall) did an expose on Bruce Willis as well as the dude who was coercing him into making all those movies, and it's becoming apparent that Bruce was a lot more unsound than the public was privy to. It honestly seems like he has full on dementia:

While shooting Midnight in the Switchgrass in September 2020, the action superstar from the Die Hard franchise, now 67, couldn't kick open a door — take after take. Willis, who had his lines fed to him via an earpiece because he could no longer remember them — was being coached through the scene by the voice on the other end. A stunt coordinator also tried to guide him. However, Willis didn't seem to understand, seven crew members who were present claimed to the outlet.

Emmett, who was directing for the first time, also tried to mimic for Willis what he needed to do for the scene. When that also failed, Emmett left the set in frustration, eyewitnesses claimed, and Willis stood there.

"Did I do something wrong?" he asked the crew.

Emmett — who's accused in the piece of offering actresses work in exchange for sex, among other things (he denied the allegations) — reportedly called his then-fiancée, reality star Lala Kent, and cried: "It’s just so sad. Bruce can’t remember any of his lines. He doesn’t know where he is."

>arranged by attorney Gloria Allred

This man is guilty of everything he was accused of and more.

Jay has been really unwilling to walk back or acknowledge any kind of criticism regarding the sequels, to an extent where it often comes across like he takes it personally that people disagree with his opinion. You'd think he wrote the fucking Plinkett reviews, the way he acts.

It was like when he said that Ret "is a good fucking actress" or whatever with a sudden spike in vitriol during one of the reviews. He's clearly got some kind of chip on his shoulder regarding Star Wars fans, probably because they disagree with him more than most subgroups on the internet.
"Jay disagreed with my opinion then didn't disingenuously change it when I yelled at him on Twitter"

I mean given Jay's general tastes in films it doesn't surprise me in the least he enjoyed TLJ, it is probably the most arthouse of SW movies so far. The problem is always, that you should do arthouse for your spin-off films, not the center piece of a main, establishment trilogy with things and characters set up beforehand.

It's a perfect SW movie for someone that doesn't care about SW, in the middle of a saga which depends on the audience caring about SW.

I half wonder how he'd react if Rian Johnson did a similar ruining of Twin Peaks. Maybe he could at least understand where some fans were coming from.

I don't think he liked it, I thought he was fairly clear about how TFA was okay to decent, TLJ had some fresh moments but was otherwise terrible in execution, and then RoS was not even a film.

He's also been pretty clear that Star Wars has been dead for a while, the commentary track for RotJ is them just pointing out all the errors that would be magnified in the future decades.

If someone made a terrible Twin Peaks show, he'd probably laugh and move on, he has the old shows.

some people lambasting RLM for not taking account of Clone Wars, while others don't care about cartoons. I think that spin-offs being good doesn't excuse shitty writing,
Yeah the clone wars fixes a bunch about the prequels but of course it does, if it didn't it would be as crap as the prequels. Hell the Ashoka arc is a more believable reason as to why he would turn his back on the Jedi council than what was in the actual prequels. With Ashoka being brash, irritating and emotional but powerful she was paired with him to show how that could go wrong with those traits and then she is taken from him when the council choses politics over their beliefs.

I'll never understand the need so many people have to obsessively defend the sequels. They suck. Just accept it.

As for Jay a star wars fan must have dragged him into an alley and stolen his lunch money or some shit. The chip on his shoulder about the whole thing is massive.

It's not worth telling people to cut it out, cause let's not act like Star Wars fags have anything else going on in their life except talking about that shit.

It hasn't been fun watching you shit it up either. Maybe more kiwis should have threads that they specifically avoid.

"Jay finds out what people shout about on twitter and disingenuously forms his opinions in opposition"

FTFY

Well, onto the next RLM video. I agree with people who hope it's something obscure, and not Star Wars, Star Trek or capeshit, if only because we'll get a genuine reaction and not manufactured Bizarro takes.

To be fair, imagine all the bitch about Jay’s Star Wars opinion on here multiplied by a ton coming from people who spend all their time in YouTube comments and Twitter, all yelling at Jay. I’d be pretty sick of it myself.

I feel like Jay has enough sense to not pay any mind to anything Twin Peaks that isn't made by David Lynch, unlike Star Wars faggots who are still watching terrible shows they hate from a terrible company they hate.

It's probably just the fact that Star Wars fanatics are annoying. He probably views them the same way the farms views lolcows. I know that's how I view them these days.

I, personally, would love to see their take on The Many Saints of Newark. It'd be a refreshing change of pace to see a bunch of Sopranos fanboys get salty and start incorporating funny quotes from the show into their comments sections.

I'll start "I'll tell you one thing, and I'm not ashamed to say it, my estimation of Jay Bauman as a reviewer just fucking plummeted."

or its because youre all annoying faggots, as the last six pages of super serious star wars discussion have shown.
Yeah, there is a group of people doing this shit for years on end, demanding to be taken seriously, that refers to themselves as "The Fandom Menace". Get it, because like the Phantom Menace. That was the name of a Star Wars movie! And they've repurposed that and used it for the name of their wrestling stable! :story:

Even if you hate they movies (and God knows they're not quality entertainment), that so many people act so fucking faggy over it and either don't realize it, or don't care, is a good indication of why people would dismiss them.

"I'll bet they're all SEETHING that the movies turned out not good after not predicting they'd not be good!""

Do ya?

They're nowhere close to the people complaining about them. You mention nuWars is shit or whatever, people come out of the woodworks to rant and rant and rant about how everyone that dislikes star wars is an angry manchild that can't let things go. Pure unfiltered seethe. And that's something that started like half a minute after TFA. It annoys me due to the utter lack of self awareness.

The person that makes a thousand youtube vids dissecting the sequel trilogy down to its bones are magnitudes less annoying than the people that can't shut up about the fans. I can elect not to watch youtube videos. It's impossible to avoid people whining about fans not liking nuWars.

Hard disagree

Not shutting up about how much you love Star Wars is gay and annoying, but not being able to move on from something you actively hate and dislike is downright pathetic. Especially not being able to move on from a fucking movie franchise designed around selling toys and merchandise.

And before you say anything, yes, it's gotten pathetic with Mike and Rich with Picard as well.

The person that can't shut up about the fans not loving star wars is the one unable to move on from something they clearly hate and dislike.

Then you have a bunch of reviewer channels that keeps reviewing star wars material because it keeps coming out and the franchise is still active. I just don't see the same levels of seethe. Though it would be nice if reviews about positive and fun shows paid the bills as well as negative reviews. Word of mouth is better at finding interesting shows nowadays than reviewers. RLM included.

I hope the next RLM is something that isn't Star Trek, Star Wars, Marvel or the like.

Give him a break will ya, it was an emotional day... When it comes to Star Wars all bets are off.
*Mike, Rich, Jack and Jay are discussing Max Landis*

Mike: There can be no mistake now.
Jack: I can't believe I stuck up for him! I feel like I've been stabbed in the heart!
Jay: We can't have him here in our social club no more, I mean that much I do know.
Rich: Social club? He's Gotta Gooooooo!
