Those chase scenes in Space Cop were inexcusably bad. They can't set up a dolly track (probably because they're in a residential neighborhood), so their solution is to have the cameraman chase after the subject on foot, so barfaroonie. Did they not try using a push cart for a dolly so they get at least shakycam? It'd still look bad, but not teenager film student bad. Then there's Mike's performance which is the absolute worst part of that movie. He had no idea what to do with Noir Cop and therefore, didn't know how to make him funny.
I'm no expert, so this is just a wild guess: maybe stabilization gear for cameras is expensive. I'm not trying to excuse them.
That's for certain, but they went with the worst option instead of trying to jury-rig something that might have addressed that problem.

It's kinda funny hearing them criticize other movies for doing that, like the a scene in Suburban Sasquatch, when they did it themselves in their biggest movie.
Yeah, that's the sort of thing that they should have picked up in principal photography and later on during editing. At some point, one of them should have said, "this footage will cause motion sickness" and figure out how to fix it, shoot around it (have Jay run from stage right to left on a static angle),* or just rewrite how that chase scene is executed. I admit these are sub-optimal solutions, but that's what happens when the professional solution is not available.
