RDO has moonshining, fur trading, bounty hunting etc as things to do. Other than having some dlc built around wagon raids or maybe running guns to Mexico I don't know what they could really do theme wise to make it a better western game.
I would think the endgame would be owning properties like houses or doing high stake train/bank robberies. Give more incentive to earn gold to spend.

What I despise about Rockstar is how they tweet about Red Dead Online, yet they abandoned any chance of substantial post-launch support in favor of GTA VI. Even worse is how the GTA Online community loves to rip on how "boring" RDO is because there's no new pay-to-win toys to grief with.
They abandoned RDR2 Online in favor of continuing GTAV Online.
It's a shame that they didn't make something as fun as RDR Online, not even an Undead Nightmare DLC for the second game...

I was so hopeful that they'd do a Undead Nightmare DLC for RDR 2, but quickly, the unfortunate reality that GTA Online would effectively squash any hope of that ever happening eventually hit. Which sucks because realistically, they could sell Undead Nightmare as a separate game (and not just a DLC that requires the base game) like they did with the original one, that would without a doubt rake in some profit from people who don't give a shit about RDR 2's original story but just wanna shoot Zombies in the Wild West.

I honestly thought Mexico was wasted potential for RDR Online. In the story, yeah it makes no sense for John to ever go there in the epilogue of RDR 2, considering he outright states in the first game that he never visited before. Which is why for RDR Online it would fit way better, The map is literally there, it was ripped straight from RDR 1, right down to where the buildings/objects are meant to be.

The amount of content and activities also put there, could easily keep people interested.

I think the same.
If GTA Online had islands to explore, why not Mexico in RDO?
Just port the RDR1 map into RDR2.

The thing that would have made the most sense for RDO would've been to lean into the roleplay, but Rockstar are retarded and don't know how to monetize that and the audience they've cultivated over the years is also retarded and doesn't have the patience for it. They need to be able to scroll tiktok while flying, literally, to the other side of the map while shooting infinite missiles.

Roleplaying in RDO would force Rockstar (and worse: Nu-Rockstar) to give the player a choice to choose professions and "alignment" with the "wrong opinions". You may think I am being facetious here, yet consider the possibilities of being a law abiding citizen, a non-corrupt law enforcer or whatever else. It goes against everything that Rockstar and the Houser brothers ever wrote in story, where they push their nihilist messaging.

Would be cool to own a ranch where you can hire people to tend to your cattle and other livestock, while you and some other people go out and run missions. Even hire some mercenaries to help you. Should have took some queues from Yellowstone

Rdr1 did have online, just not in the ps4 and newer era consoles. Which is disappointing, considering ive picked it up recently for cheap and haven't started playing yet.

Incorrect, Sadie is in the first game as a bounty hunter, and in RDR2 you find that she became that way because she was raped and had her husband killed in front of her.

The rape part is speculation. She was hiding from the odriscolls when the gang showed up.

They probably didn't want to take the resources away from GTA Online to fix the broken/hacked RDR1 servers.

The servers on Xbox 360 and PS3 are still active as of this post. Either they migrated from GameSpy to other servers or they use P2P servers.

I remember modders/hackers in RDR1 where they’d spawn assets from Undead Nightmare that would crash sessions or place you in infinite loading screens when joining multiplayer. A common hack then was to artificially inflate earnings from hideouts to max out level progression.

I think they fixed the infinite loading exploit, but the hideout hack is still around, although not as frequent.

I also remembered that Sadie was a major part of the defense against the Pinkertons after Arthur returned from Guarma, is a part of the rescue of John from the Sisika Penitentiary where she kills many prison guards, takes part in the destruction of the Cornwall oil refinery and Army payroll train robbery, killing numerous US soldiers, then takes part in the misson to kill Milton, slaying even more agents.

Despite all this, in the epilogue there's no indication she's on the run from anyone. We can only speculate if she was killed or arrested, but nothing in the game indicates anything like that. Which is kind of shitty, because the games were all about the 'life' catching up to someone, yet in an effort to construct its girlboss character it completely contradicts that idea.

That's my primary criticism - It's one thing to make an annoying girl character and have other characters worship her, its another thing to spoil your primary message for the sake of dumb politics in a game that would be no different without her.

That's a good point. The ambiguity leaves room for her to have dodged "karma" (I don't like the word and concept, yet it's the best I have here), and now she can become a bigger monster than the O' Driscoll brothers and their gang. Yet, I don't see her being able to run forever.

And honestly, the game would be much fucking better without her.
