Its literally an old Western movie that's been turned into a modern video game, complete with hilarious, random kapwing noises out of nowhere in gun fights, and goof ball Klansmen to fight like in Blazing Saddles. If you guys have ever searched them after a fight and read the papers they're carrying around they exist solely as a Mel Brooks punchline. The best way to describe Red Dead Redemption 2's writing direction is it being a romanticized version of the Old West per the creator's vision. There's certainly a clear "slant" in their vision, but that's the least of the game's problems. Subjectively, so to speak.
Yeah, because the 1920's and into the early 30's weren't known for their rampant crime and big-time gangs or anything like that. Bank robbers, armored car robbers, bootleggers, train robbers...Trying to make it seem like the Wild West was still around in like the 1920's would just seem weird.
