You are correct. Federal charges usually don’t lead to easy plea bargains of community service and probation.

There are some cases where each image, not just an instance of a download, are counted as one charge. So, if someone downloads a ZIP of 300 images, that could be 300 charges instead of one. It depends on the prosecutions.

The fact that DD is involved is going to make the prosecutors go hard, and they will likely hone in on this during the trial.

The average guideline minimum for non-production child pornography offenders increased from 98 months in fiscal year 2005 to 136 months in fiscal year 2019.

IBLP and tight knit very conservative evangelical Christian communities are rife with child rape and physical abuse. They cover it up again and again, but it was revealed to have happened in literally 50% of the evangelical homeschooling families featured on TLC (Duggars, Bateseses, Willises, and Plaths). That's probably a good microcosm of the community as a whole, though they spent tons of time pretending it doesn't and making sure no one talks about it when it does.

At least another 10% are headed by gay men under deep cover so as not to upset anyone.

So a whopping 40% are just physical abusers who are controlling dicks but probably don't rape their kids. What a godly example to the heathens.

They'll figure it out, eventually. If he was smart enough, he should have fabricated an cover story about how he was snagged for tax evasion and cursed out the judge...But this is the guy who brought up cheese pizza, unprompted.

Up until now, she'd been the only one of her married sisters not to have one. She is also the only one who has genuinely broken away (she goes to therapy and sends her kids to public school, expects to get paid for working, uses birth control, etc) and isn't let into her parents' home without a chaperone as a result (though Josh was up until the arrest). Both of her other pregnancies and births were difficult (not that this stopped Daddy Dearest from shoving a camera in her face during them).

Even though I really hate some of her and Derick's beliefs, I have a genuine soft spot for her. 2021, much like her family, has been especially unkind to her. Even though she's had difficulty before, the stress and trauma the latest Josh bullshit CANNOT have helped. I can't imagine being a pregnant woman and having the face of my relative/abuser splashed everywhere and hearing that he's only gotten worse.

I get the sense maybe she’s “above” that — which, honestly, that’s fine. She’s allowed to process the trauma of being raised in that shit family however she feels is best.

I am not familiar with the Bates and Plaths families on abuse allegations. I just know the Bates HATE the duggars and only put up with them because they're in the same community. I forget if it was a family post on gaydit or something but there's a reason none of the duggars married the Bates apparently.

I don't see much on the Willises these days but last I remember many had gone their separate ways and I wonder how much blame they threw at each other. There were a few weird passive aggressive statements on social media at one point. At least the girls actually got real therapy, and prolly realized how much of a dumb useless cunt the mom was and prolly blamed her for their abuse, or at least learned how to not be a dumb cunt mom themselves.

This can easily be shot down by contacting his ISP.
 
I think when Josh asked the cops if someone had been downloading child porn, he expected them to react with surprise and be all "Yes, we are! How did you know?" and then Josh would proudly state that he had his own suspicions and had been monitoring the situation himself. Then the cops would be impressed by his civic-mindedness and would let Josh continue his "private investigation" uninhibited.

Luckily the real world doesn't always work like that.

Josh's Franks hearing was denied, so the idea of getting the case thrown out due to a falsely acquired warrant seems to be a fail.

I hope this 33 year old man keeps acting like a 10 year old that knows just enough to get one over on his parents, and that this trial is as entertaining as I imagine it could be.

Tbf, this time, the cyber police did kind of get him.


I have read some testimonials by cyber forensics and investigation experts whose job is literally to root out online pedo rings. And apparently there are usually two categories of guys like Josh: ones who are horrifyingly good at covering their tracks and those who are comically bad. And the latter are often given enough rope to hang themselves by the former in order to occupy the Feds. There's a huge support network complete with handbooks and shit but they lockdown things tight if they get suspicious.

Which explains how Josh knew how to install the Linux partition but was still stupid enough to use bittorrent.
