Psycho Patrol R - From the creator of Cruelty Squad, looks to be just as unhinged but with deeper gameplay

I didn’t know that CS was a game endorsed by Pyrocynical until I read this thread, and now I know why everyone (including Ville), hates the community around it. What a mess.
I bought into CS when it was still in early access and to be honest the perception of the game has changed a lot. When I first started it was just seen as a surreal shitpost with no real serious meaning and people understood this was likely the intent of the Dev. It wasn't until the game had already gotten popular and went through the youtube slop creators like Markiplier, Gmanlives, and Pyro, that the pretentious video essayists discovered CS and tried to spin it as an anarcho-commie-slowburn-ancap-genderfluid political thriller masterpiece despite most of them probably not have even played the game at that point. I totally can't blame the guy for hating his community if most of his hangers-on are retarded chin-stroking trannies who are gonna dissect his shitposts for actual serious meaning every time he puts something out.

I still love Cruelty Squad though, every now and then when I'm just idle at my PC and I have nothing to do I'll boot up CS and run a few random mission just for the hell of it. I'm looking forward to giving Psycho Patrol R a go soon. Sucks to hear it's a bit of a mess but I've enjoyed plenty of jank games.

Played PPR.
The biggest issue is that you are incredibly weak. Like you will be aimbotted a cross the map. The game expects you to know exactly how to beat an area but the psueds defending the game say you can just wait around until night and slowly sneak so it actually is a complex choice.
Hopefully the game is fixed.

I do think that the game for the most part is a "shitpost" but is pretty scathing against hyper-capitalist shit, it makes sense when you look at Ville's previous art and being socialist/communist in nature along with a big lean on accelerationism. Beyond that, the game is funny and trying to twist it into some kind of anti-fascist, pro-degeneracy message is retarded. People really saw the decaying shitworld of CruS and thought "yeah I want to be that."
Also with him hating his fans, looking back at his work he really seemed like some war obsessed zoomer with radical online opinions makes me think that he saw his fans were a worse version of himself or as some kind of mirror and it kind of mellowed him out, which results in him hating his retarded degenerate fans.

Where's the bar you need to go to for the SLS Panic quest? Can't find it anywhere.
Did you ever find it? If not then to get to the harbor you have to pass through the Bridge of the Sovereign. Shoot the two snipers on the top of the bridge and go along the side rail to skip the V-Stalkers

Yeah I'm a lot farther finished meeting with the Gaia CEO, need to find the terrorist.

I also found that Necropolis has a door to the harbour that is right next to the bar

Finished the main quest, spoilers for that potentially...
After finishing the main quest I've noticed that you unlock new classes that you can start the game with. CERH, Celestial Prisoner, and Cosplayer. Celestial Prisoner is interesting since all of your skills are 1 besides Lack and Luck, which are set to 99. Cosplayer is also interesting since it sets all of your stats, besides Bioenergy, to 99. Are there any other classes that are unlockable? I have no clue if all of them come from completing the main quest or side ones.

Edit:
Side Quest spoilers:
After doing another very quick playthrough, focusing more on side content, I've found out that some side quests do give new origins. Specifically the quest(s?) The Legend of the Golden Mushroom and/or Shroom Blues. One of them will give you the Mycoman Origin.

I thought Early Access games don't have an ending, or at least not all featured endings
I should've specified, the currently available main quest, SLS Panic. I'm assuming more large "main quests" are going to be added to the game based on the wording of the Early Access info.
I don't know if there's multiple endings for the quest and I doubt it considering that the only other achievement, Hostile takeover, is for finishing SLS Panic in a certain way.

my least fav thing about this game so far are how big and open some levels are with just huge empty sections (mostly noticeable in the harbor) and the overall price of leveling up the character, but that aside i definitely like it a bit more than cruelty squad and see promise in its increased openness and non-linearity. and of course the game's still early access so things will be filled out in the gaps.

This is especially noticeable when you're using a heavy mech with slower skating speeds, light mechs it's not as bad but you have to constantly be weary of something appearing around the corner since the game likes to randomly spawn enemies in certain areas. It's a lot more manageable when you get the advanced targeting computer since it will straight up target enemies through walls for you. Mech combat by far has to be one of my least favorite aspects of the game, along with map traversal if you're not launching yourself off of slopes.
the overall price of leveling up the character
It's like Dark Souls, each character Origin starts at a certain level, meaning at the beginning some are more expensive to level up than others. However, I personally don't have much of an issue with it since finding money is super easy, especially since killing named characters doesn't really have much of an impact on anything and every decent weapon can be found and not have to be bought from the store.

it took me a while to realise i can sell the expensive items with using them in the inventory, so you are right there.

Unless I'm retarded, PsychoPatrolR is made in 3.5.(~).
I can only guess why it's featured in Godot's news related to 4.4.1. The game compiles shaders/stutters during gameplay which is fucking embarrassing. I'd accept it but it's just really rough and weird. Far more unpolished and scope-crept than CruS.
what.webp
Go try Peripeteia. Hope that Beta Decay is good.
