Psycho Patrol R - From the creator of Cruelty Squad, looks to be just as unhinged but with deeper gameplay

It's exactly how the shitlibs in charge of Europe think. They see themselves as guardians against extremism while simultaneously engaging in shit that is completely indistinquishable from the likes of Putin, Xi or any other existing dictators.
"Scratch a conservative and you find someone who prefers the past over any future. Scratch a liberal and find a closet aristocrat."
Though still pretty sure I've heard Russian propaganda use the word Hitlerite while Euros still use Fascist as a war cry. Anyways you still use overwhelming fire power to kill people that are unlikely to deserve it while talking on how you help the world.

Also I hope this time there's a reason to go back to the hub area because previous game really underused that area.

This is exactly what I thought when talking to Lorenzo for the first time, being apart of the thoughtcrime division of the federal police talking about anti-fascism and being anti-hiterite, made me chuckle with how fucking retarded it is and is exactly what I expect from Ville.

the fella that really, really wanted to go to australia and though i would help ended up pulling a handgun out on me when i came back to HQ at night and boy howdy was that a surprise

i got banned from the discord by responding to someone who posted a picture of themselves in the off topic channel and saying "dude you should cover up the facial hair with makeup it would help you look like a woman" which just lets you know how toxic that community is if you can't even say things like that

having a community full of retarded trannies who don't understand the underlying message of the work but become obsessed with the purposefully ugly aesthetics is arguably a more impressive artistic accomplishment than the games itself, literally just brainwashing themselves to believe in an ideology presented by a game that presents it as a joke that you're stupid for believing in.
I think I got banned for saying nigger. Good game, horrible community.

Bought Cruelty Squad ages ago, gave it a try and got filtered in about 20 minutes by how finicky and idiosyncratic it was. Is it worth it to give it another try?

where is the surprise that a discord server is full of colossal fucking faggots? is that not a turds-in-the-toilet situation?

Yes, it's hard at first but some upgrades are OP. Fishing is a good way to rake in some dough. Each level gives different fish some with bigger payloads than others.

I can’t play the game due to the resolution and text scaling issues, but it looks awesome and I can’t wait to try it. Is the game really that much more obtuse than CS? Friends who have given it a whirl says it has a total lack of direction, which is my type of game.

Yeah, definitely. Personally I'm not sure how to feel about it yet. Psycho Patrol is more feature rich compared to CS, but at times it comes across as complexity for the sake of complexity. From the beginning you get hit in the face with all of those different systems, none of which get properly explained, essentially requiring you go full on trial and error if you want to understand anything

I suppose there will be a moment when it all clicks in place, but for now it just comes across as directionless sandbox, which tries to keep you hooked by being intentionally confusing and incomprehensible

I really- really enjoyed CS despite some of its' flaws. For this one? I like the genre, I like deus ex, open world rpgs, whatever, and I wanted to enjoy this game too, but the man is honestly just dogshit at game design. I'm just not buying it anymore that every bad decision is a deliberate artistic choice, it's just bullshit.

I'm 100% convinced at this point that Cruelty Squad was just a stroke of luck where the stars randomly all aligned for something cool and it's not the case of the dev having midas' touch. Hating your own playerbase doesn't help either, but it's a tale old as time when it comes to indie devs.

well with cruelty squad he went against a whole bunch of shooter conventions that probably didn't need to be there, so going against the grain wasn't really any more difficult. but the issue with a game that's a police procedural rpg is that you need to have some framework for players to understand if you want them to engage with the rpg mechanics. and the game really goes out of its way to punish you for expecting there to be a framework, so after a couple hours you just completely lose interest in engaging with the game anymore because all of your attempts to learn the systems don't really give you any meaningful feedback

that's what i said and i refunded it after like three hours, the game's technical issues are about on par with it's mechanical issues.

I didn’t know that CS was a game endorsed by Pyrocynical until I read this thread, and now I know why everyone (including Ville), hates the community around it. What a mess.

I don’t really know much about Ville, but he seems like an “artist” first and a game developer… something. I think CS was also a case of being released at the right time. I recall being very disappointed in gaming around the end of 2020 with the release of CP2077, and here’s this seemingly “low effort” game that had a ton more heart and soul put into it which was genuinely more interesting, intriguing… and just more fun, IMO.

I was hoping PPR would be a weird mashup of Brigador and Cruelty Squad.

I feel like a lot of the obtuse mechanics are simply due to UI issues. The fact quest progression depends heavily on shit like the messenger app and the database, that is accessed through the 'pause' menu, is a layer of obfuscation that is unneeded. It'd be better if it was done through a PDA that you carry or something. Maybe also add some sort of map that shows where people are when you highlight them in a database. Maybe have a computer in HQ you can look up (almost) anyone in the world based on a name search.

you can look up anyone you've met and track them in the world in the pause menu , although they only show up if they're in the same map as you. i actually quite like the pda/messenger element of the game and think it's well realized, if a bit lacking in filler, but what isn't is how it influences how you interact with the game world. there's a lot of interesting game design here but it's not good game design
