Anyone who has enough influence to cause various sites to carry water/cover for/erase shit for should be fair game (unless they're an actual lolcow)

Too many discussions get silenced/squashed in the normal places by the normal people, and being able to discuss them freely is a requirement of a free society, imo.

Try discussion any of the AI people on HN without getting shitdown hard, for example.

A board like this sounds like a good idea, but considering that most of these are political figures of some kind, there should be extra moderation and stricter rules, cause otherwise this would just become a clone of A&N.

I agree. I would support this but if Null feels like it would be too much work then I will understand.

Would that head anti-cheat guy from Riot Games, Phillip Koskinas, the one who dresses like a homosexual romance pirate, be thread worthy?

He also makes music complete with a YT channel & seems to showcase many other things in his life, very publicly.

Sounds like A-Log central. Give 'em their little hurtbox.

These definitions feel similiar to existing tag "CareerCow" and I agree it makes sense.
Doesn't have to be CareerCow though

As much as it amuses me to see the Trump thread appear right between the threads for Yourmoviesucks and Onlyusemeblade, I think it's a good idea to seperate internet famous from IRL famous simply because I am bad at keeping up with IRL famous people shenanigans and I would like to change that. Unless I'm already aware of the person, it can be tough to distinguish if a lolcow is a public figure when cruising the thread titles in a board.

Call them VEPs (Very Exceptional People). They're different from traditional lolcows in that they're notable for things other that being weird people on the internet.

Will Stancel is a Lolcow. His political career is laughable and he's only noted for bothering ICE (part of his lolcow antics) and being the target of mockery from the left and the right.

Elon Musk is a Very Exceptional Person because he's a trillionaire CEO who also happens to be a spergy ketamine guzzling autist. He's notable for things other than crashing out on twitter. Such as buying twitter.

EDIT: I agree that the board should be more strictly moderated, given that VEPs have real lawyers and more resources to throw at attacking the site.

The distinction between widely known people and actual lolcows is probably good. It does leave you/jannies with the editorial decision of where threads should be. An unfortunate side effect with this cast of characters might be US Political General types creeping back into the fun boards and sperging the place up.

Gonna be real king, you might just have to chad mode and test this in production.

Part of what makes a lolcow a lolcow, is that they can be milked for laughs. Even though we disavow trolling, it's still part of the definition that they can be trolled.

These famous people may give many lolz, but you can't really milk them, so I guess it's accurate to separate them.

I don't think "public interest" is a good name for a category, as it would tend to indicate that there isn't a public interest in regular lolcows.

As an autistic man if you ask me if I want change then Ill say no, but if you just impose this on me I guess Ill accept it.

celebrity gossip general forum. Also consider a separate girl’s celebrity gossip forum?
