There's a certain big entertainment family that I was thinking of making a thread for, and such a subforum would be the perfect place for it. Plus, before I was a cow watcher-gossiper, I was a celebrity watcher-gossiper, and unfortunately for me, just about every celebrity gossip site is fun by fags and hags who attach hyper-pozzed and hyper-arbitrary rules about how you're allowed to speak about these uneducated court jesters that live like kings and queens. So a more carved-out spot here for that would be nice. Would also be a good place to put the Grimes thread.

Good for new traffic I guess. It's a pretty big shift away from the site's roots, but honestly I'm fine with it. I don't even really care about lolcows, I mostly just stick around for the oldschool forum vibe. You just have to accept that doing this pushes the site closer to being a generic celebrity gossip and bitching board. The people pointing out the inevitable infighting are right aswell.

I do like CrunkLord420's shortlist. Having a dedicated board for all the Palantir/techbro autists where they can be datamined and cataloged the exact same way they do to the rest of us is pretty funny. It'd bring in a lot of traffic while keeping the target on the freaks who are actually ruining the internet.

I think it's a good idea, but I also think it can be a double edged sword.
Lately I've felt the farms move in a direction that can affect more real-world culture and politics, I think this is a good thing, personally.
However I am also sensitive to the fact that if the wrong person of power discovers that they have a thread they could make things even more difficult for you (I know, hard to imagine things being much worse).

But you've always maintained a pretty good job of keeping people on the straight and narrow and not allowing this place to be a springboard for political action (though it would be nice if we lived in a world where it could be), so I think it'll probably be fine.

I do wonder if at a certain point such a space would be possible, something with a similar mindset to the KF but without the baggage of being an internet drama forum.

Let's vote in the ooperator for president. That's how all these somalis and muslims and other niggers made my government shitty, political incest. We can do the same but use it to make the country better.

@CrunkLord420 believes a board specifically for "not really an internet retard" high-profile individuals may benefit the site.
I agree but there needs to be stronger moderation for such threads for 3 reasons:
1) Bias and disingenuous posting. No one thinks that fighting an average lolcow will save the world but there are plenty of people who think that spewing propaganda to harm their political enemies online will somehow save the world. Without greater and more intelligent moderation, those threads will just devolve into propaganda factories akin to the politics board of 4chan.

2) Lawsuits. No one thinks that attacking some random lolcow will improve the world therefore there's a natural tendency of people to avoid libelous posting. Also, the average lolcow is a mentally ill fool who doesn't have a leg to stand on in court. These 2 factors go out the window when you're dealing with important public figures. You really don't want to make people like Musk and Trump into courtroom opponents since they're not like Mr. Greer or Stalker Ess Tomlinson.

3) You'll end up getting leakers and personal opponents of popular figures on your site who will use the site as a shield. This will ensure lawsuits and other problems. The last thing you want is for some Chinese rocket company - or Dr. Evil himself - to be paying people to mess with Elon Musk due to business competition. If you still were to make such a board, it would be imperative that you give the public figures the ability to make accounts that have special privileges to address things said against them without being banned from their own threads due to biased moderators.

You don't want your site to become a disposable tool used by bad actors for their own personal grievances against public figures.

I'm concerned that bringing all those threads to the front of the site could bring too many bad actors and additional unwanted attention to the site. I think a new tag would be fine enough. IMG_7516.png

Would this be an on-topic or thunderdome board? I don't think I'd want it as an on-topic board because it seems like an invitation to put political seething on the same level as "real" lolcow threads, i.e the DJT thread is basically just a retirement home for boomerlibs to seethe in and they regularly fail to treat it like anything but a chat thread.

That being said it would be nice to have a place for figures in that middle ground. I would especially be interested in a Larry Ellison thread because the guy is insane and ran one of the most silently evil software companies to ever exist.

My only worry would be that higher-profile people have more powerful jews gaurding their interests.

I suggest the Hillary Clinton thread if we're doing this
A little off-topic I guess but Hillary Clinton isn't "funny" in the same sense that a lolcow is. She's just interesting because of all of her scandals and influence. Really, a lot of modern lolcows aren't funny, just interesting in some fashion. Though with the Clintons I doubt you could make an interesting thread that doesn't just read like a Wikipedia article. I have my reservations about the DJT thread but Trump is at least eccentric which helps writing a good thread.

Also it seems like most people are in favor of this board, and I'm feeling inspired (and have suddenly come across a large amount of free time) so I've started penning a Larry Ellison thread. @CrunkLord420 if you're interested and want to suggest things I should discuss in it, send me a PM.

would this complaint be valid for any other topic
Would the board inherit its rules & guidelines more from the Lolcow boards or the Thunderdome boards? Essentially will the board allow retards infighting & sperging in threads or will it be for objective factual documentation & discussion on Public Interest Lolcows like most of the other Lolcow threads are supposed to be?

I'd say make it into a containment board for the pre-existing active threads of non-internet figures, create some tighter rules, maybe create a dozen new threads for high-profile people deserving of one, then just stop at that.

Off-topic stuff is fine as ultimately the board is centered around the core of lolcows and lolcow communities, diluting that core with ostensibly non-internet celebrity and political figures will cause a further devolution in the site's culture and character. I wouldn't want it to become green reddit where they say the n-slur sometimes (which it's already become in many parts of the forum)

The edge cases in this get a bit fuzzy. Sure, I’d keep Hasan Piker in the normal lolcow board, but where would you put the Young Turks thread? It’s nominally centered around people like Cenk Uyghur and Ana Kasparian—who are somewhere between high profile and internet famous—but their thread also covers the literally-whos associated with their network and crazies like Kyle Kulinski. But even if we put that aside, I’m not sure why Azealia Banks would be in this new board but Cenk Uyghur wouldn’t, based on first principles.
It sounds like in this case "high profile" means "household name in every country".

I'm in favor of a new sub-board as long as it is structured so the celebrity threads are informative. I think each celebrity likely needs their own dedicated discussion thread that the main thread links to with the main thread acting like a celebrity specific version of the community happenings thread.

I'm indifferent but leaning towards agree. They definitely should be considered lolcows since people aren't milking them for content, but it also sounds a bit pointless to have a section strictly dedicated to non-lolcows on a site dedicated to tracking the shenanigans of lolcows.

That being said, curious on what the thought of restricting CH2 posts about these people are. I feel like the site kind of loses focus when politics or celebrity gossip ends up being published to the entire site's alert system. I'm guilty of this too, but have been actively avoiding publishing high profile celebrity or political events to the thread in recent months.
