After that recent trailer, I went from cautiously optimistic to potentially getting this game day one. Looking forward to seeing what other pokemon get new forms/evolutions (can't wait to see Hisuian Arcanine, Asian lion-dogs are a personal favorite creature design).

On that note, there are some theories that the starters' final evolutions might get Hisuian forms. Would be neat if true, a Hisuian Typhlosion/Samurott could be cool.

On the subject of starters, for those planning on getting the game, have you already decided what starter you;re going to pick?

This is the problem though, other than Unova what other region would make a good legends? I guess you could do Kalos for Xygarde but if they aren't willing to get into the nitty gritty of the Kalos war it can be a bit limiting potential wise.

A Legends Kyurem set in ancient Unova could be neat, as others have suggested earlier in the thread that could be a good opportunity to finally show the Reshiram/Zekrom merged dragon that has only been hinted at so far.

Legends Necrozma could be a blend of Legends Arceus gameplay and Wind Waker, sailing between the different islands of Alola. It could even feature the first time people encountered the Ultra Beasts.

Heck, they could go all out and have a game set in prehistoric times with caveman trainers and un-fossilized versions of the fossil pokemon, even throw in some brand new ones based on obscure/not-yet-used-for-pokemon-designs prehistoric species.

Kanto and Johto are literally right next to each other geographically. A Legends game about their history would be epic. Would tell the story behind the Burned Tower, if the regions were originally named differently (for example, Hokkaido used to be called Ezo). If the Pokemon were any varied from climate and environmental factors, and if ancestors of common characters we know lived at that time.

Like the Okido/Oak family.
Hoenn, yo. The Regis I doubt could carry a Legends game (still include them, though), but the Titans would be neat.
Don't forget:

Kalos: what exactly happened during the great war?

All of these would be great ideas for further Legends games.

Cyndaquil. Love me a good Cyndaquil. Or I might just randomly choose.

My only problem with this idea is that given how much stronger Fused Kyurem is compared to its base parts, I can only imagine how strong the original dragon would be. There'd be no way it could be usable, or we'd have another Mega Rayquaza on our hands.

But if they did do this, I really hope they make a cool dragon. All the fan art I've seen of the original dragon looks like a chimera of Zekrom and Reshiram. But that's ridiculous, right? Maybe if they fused back together, they'd look like that, but the original dragon should look like, well, a completely seamless dragon. My main question is what would its type be? All three remains of it are different types, and dragons. I guess it could just become pure dragon.

Heck, they could go all out and have a game set in prehistoric times with caveman trainers and un-fossilized versions of the fossil pokemon, even throw in some brand new ones based on obscure/not-yet-used-for-pokemon-designs prehistoric species.

Honestly all I want from an ancient history Pokemon game is for Game Freak to turn the rating up to at least T, and do something like Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, where Pokemon were shown to be actual tools of war, with weapons and armor. I guess maybe that'd be X/Y, but there's no way Game Freak or Nintendo would take a risk like that, given the end of the game would have to be AZ killing everything.

All of these would be great ideas for further Legends games.
And on that note, while I know this game is focused on Arceus, it's Sinnoh. So I hope there's some room for Regigigas and all of the other Regis, possibly even more.

And you could get into those dragon people introduced in ORAS. A lot to sink your teeth in to.

A legends Galar could also be interesting - imagine walking around a european countryside with kaiju randomly popping up in the middle of it.

Definitely Cyndaquil.
My first ever video game was Pokemon Crystal, and he was my first starter. I haven't really used him since HGSS were released, but Typhlosion has always had a special place in my heart.

I’ve been considering doing a community watch thread on these clowns since there are some pretty mentally unwell people in the monster taming fanbase but the community isn’t big enough to warrant one
We have a general Pokeclones thread, maybe dump the cringe there?
Better archived, as we all know most of complainers have their own Fuckinguglymon project chugging elsewhere.

I’m also going for Cyndaquil. Easily one of my favorite starters, and aside from one Gen, I’ve always gone with the Fire Starter.

Choosing Cyndaquil because Typhlosion is awesome, and it's about damn time it got the recognition it deserves.

Also, how could you turn down something this fucking cute?

I prefer Cyndaquil, and partly not for the usual reasons.

Speed and Special Attack. Not because it's the poor man's Charizard; questionable choice for competitive, but because with the right build, you can outrun nearly everything while hitting just hard enough.

I like to pair it with my Honchkrow. I honestly fell in love with the bird years ago. Like, you can almost never go wrong with that boss.

I was watching someone go over what was shown from the Presents and the one thing that bothered me about that video was them saying that they thought Stanler's design was hideous.

I understand that people have their likes and dislikes with pokemon designs, but seriously?

This is hideous?

When we currently have greatest contender for most unappealing design right here (according to the people I've seen talk about it)?

Bruxish is the most hideous design? It's just a fish with lips, which is weird, sure, but not the weirdest thing. I wouldn't say Stantler is hideous either, but it is a little odd...Like, is that a beak, or a nose? It makes its head look like a squid.

Y'know what? I got nothing better to do, lemme look through every generation of Pokemon and find the weirdest (to me) among each.

Gen 1: Lickitung

108.png

I get it's based on an Akaname, which is a gross yokai that licks bathroom floors clean... but it's gross. Also, what even is it supposed to be? It doesn't look like a woman like Jynx, and it doesn't really look like an animal, what's with the tail? The symbols? It's just altogether unsettling.

Gen 2: Snubbul

209.png

I was tempted to put Togetic, but this is about hideous designs, not stupid ones. I mean, Togetic is like... an egg bird? It's kind of weird. Anyway, Snubbul. Gen 2 doesn't have the worst designs, but this is a vaguely humanoid dog in a dress. Why? Are they supposed to look like middle-aged soccer moms with bulldogs?

Gen 3: Cradily

346.png

Swalot and Gulpin are close seconds, with their blobfish-like appearances, or whatever they're supposed to be, but... penis plant. Does this thing even look like a plant to you? Or a rock type?

Gen 4: Probopass

476.png

I know, I know, you probably thought it was gonna be Lickilicky, and while it is one of the many bizarre evolutions in Gen 4, it doesn't beat out bush friend here. Seriously, what's going on here? It kind of looks like it's growing two extra heads where its "arms" are, and also that its... mustache? Is its bushy pubes.

Gen 5: A lot of them

Alright, while Gen 5 is one of my favorites, I can't deny that a lot of these Pokemon just look stupid.
Gothita

It's a Pokemon based on a gothic lolita. Why? Unova is supposed to be based on New York City, why the hell are these creepy fanservice things running around those dark alleys?

Alomomola

594.png

Oh hi there Luvdisc's evolution, except it's not, for some reason. It's literally just Luvdisc, but more fish-shaped, again.

Beheeyem

606.png

I know it's a UFO, and a creepy man in a trenchcoat, but he just comes across as a sentient bop-it, or some other children's toy. Also Pokemon with clothes never stop being weird. See: Gothita, Snubbul.

Mandibuzz

630.png

Why does this bird have eyeliner, and why is it making bedroom eyes at me? Also does it have a skirt? The previous form has an eggshell diaper, so maybe. Also the one in the eggshell diaper, literally named a baby, also has eyeliner.

Gen 6: Aromatisse

683.png

Honestly none of Gen 6's designs are really hideous to me, except maybe Aromatisse and Spritzee. Gourgeist is pretty bad too though. It looks like it has a plague doctor mask, but like Beheeyem, when Game Freak intentionally designs a Pokemon around a creepy concept, they just make it look cuddly and cute instead. I know it's more than just that, but still. Also again with the eyeliner! This one's about beauty products, so it's more excused, but it's still creepy as hell, just not in the way it was probably intended.

Gen 7: Incineroar

727.png

Yes, Incineroar. Not Bruxish, or Drampa. Not the charging brick, the sexy salamander, or the stuffed bear. Not the sexy plant (making bedroom eyes with eyeliner again), or the fucking sandcastle. Not the anchor, or any of the Tapus, or Ultra Beasts. The pro wrestler cat. Just once I wanted my Fire starter to not turn into someone on furaffinity. Infernape gets a pass for being Wukong, but ever since Typhlosion, every Fire starter has been a dude, like a man, or a woman. The one time I choose the Fire starter, because I think maybe, just maybe, it'll be a really cool big cat, like a panther or something, it turns into Tony the Tiger's evil brother.

Gen 8: Hmm...

Like Gen 5, there are a lot of designs that to me just look awful. Yes, including the intentionally mismatched ones like the fossils. From the penguin, just a regular penguin, with an ice cube on its head, to the disgusting evolutions like Obstagoon and Mr. Rime, to the starter I really dislike, Intelleon, I think I just don't like Gen 8. Even the legendary pair look exactly the same, the only cool one is Eternatus. And side note I'm leaving out Gigantamax, Megas, and alternate formes because the official Pokedex doesn't show them.

So yeah, I think Stantler and Bruxish are fine. There are way more grotesque-looking Pokemon than those two.

I don't personally think Bruxish is that bad looking (in fact there isn't a single pokemon that I dislike design-wise). I was just going off of a recent example that I heard of.

Also, Vulby is wearing a skull as a diaper. While Mandabuzz has a bone skirt.

Ugly pokemon you say?
1630007197753.png

This one always sticks out to me. Not because its the ugliest or worst pokemon but because everything else in that generation is pretty solid.

...no love of Oshawott?
I can understand the apprehension towards Oshawott, but just wait until Oshawott evolves.
I'm not a fan of Samurott. It just looks so disjointed from Oshawott and Dewott that I just can't. I really like dewott but had it been more of an in between it probably wouldn't be that bad for me.
