(fags at bulbapedia claim Ampharos is meant to be a sheared sheep but I don't see it at all, looks more like a nondescript fantasy creature plus the Dragon type mega evo is because it always had the word for dragon in its Japanese name)
I thought Ampharos’s mega form was based on the Kirin, a horse-like Asian mythological creature which they conflated with real giraffes, which I guess is close to a sheep if you squint? Makes a tiny bit more sense than randomly tacking on dragon type for no reason. It does look a bit like a giraffe I guess, it’s yellow with a long neck.

Some of Game Freak’s design choices really baffles me for that matter, we have so many ape/monkey Pokémon, so many miscellaneous waifu plants, and they haven’t yet used ‘obvious’ creatures like dolphins.

I swear ‘island of giant Pokemon’ was an episode in the anime at some point.

Mega Ampha is a dragon cuz it's Japanese name is Denryu with the ryu meaning dragon. Why the woolless sheep was named elec dragon is beyond me tho

They had an episode in the Indigo League where Team Rocket’s and Ash & Co’s Pokémon got lost, and all of the Pokémon native to the island were gigantic. Turns out, in the end, the giant Pokémon were all robots which were part of a tourist attraction.

That's how it was in Sun/Moon until Pokemon Bank update.
One of my online friends mentioned that the non-Galar Dex Pokemon aren't even programed into the game. I can hope that a patch would fix this, but this seems stupid given that we've had generation-to-generation transfers since Gen 4.

There wasn't room for them on the Sun/Moon cart, National Dex was a DLC they hid behind a Pokemon Bank update.

They've been using the same models since X/Y, even Go uses them. I'm assuming Let's Go started updating the 3D models for the Switch, and I'm guessing that's the hold up with Sword and Shield, they don't want to delay the game a year for models the game doesn't use.

Copying this from the E3 thread, apologies for the attachments being broken:

Also, pretty bad showing for Nintendo I think. Their best games were Pokemon and a port of the Witcher III. AC could be good, but its nine months off.
The sad part (or hilarious, depending on your point of view) is that Game Freak immediately destroyed any and all hype for Sword and Shield with the Treehouse thing, by announcing that you can't transfer Pokémon from older games using Home if they're not on the Galar Dex. Seriously, the entire Pokémon fandom is pissed at Game Freak, on Twitter, on Reddit, on 4chan, 2ch/5ch, and even fucking Facebook.
Even Joe Merrick, the owner of Serebii, is against this (Archive):
It's a dumpster fire.
