It's both a gatcha game and it has a subscription

It's on Switch/Switch 2 and comes out on phone in June

You don't need to interact with the Gatcha thankfully since they let you transfer your Pokemon from home into the game
So you have to subscribe to use, subscribe to home, have your older games and there is STILL a gacha INCLUDED?

Pokemon fans are truly a subhuman race who should be drained of their money and life force, holy fucking shit.

Some of them are actually new and pretty good.

Hyperbeam as an example looks sick

My mobile game from 2015 has better effects, the pokemon animation still looks shit and WE ACTUALLY HAVE CHINESE MOBILE GAMES WITH BETTER ANIMATION ON MOBILE for YEARS already.

Come on lads, we know this asset flip game shit for years already

Lmao these dumb fuckers didn't think to remove Entertainment from Hawlucha when they gave its Mega No Guard. So it can now turn a OHKO move into a never missing menace in doubles

Another fun example of Hawlucha fucking shit up

Unless they IMMEDIATELY patch this out, get used to seeing this team on EVERY double-battle from now on.

Mega Hawlucha just opened pandora's box and created the scariest META to date, including anything in Ubers

So here's a question.

I know a lot of people claim watching other people play pokemon is fucking boring, so how would you make it NOT boring? Would having commentary work, or styling the video in a "meme"-ish way (going so far as to make it a shitpost style)?
I don't know if you would like it, but I did a livestream of Pokémon Showdown before. I could post a link to it if you'd like. It's funny how some people don't know how to battle an unaware Clefable, sometimes they start raising their own stats effectively, just letting you set up with no consequences. I think I also might have my sister stream Pokémon Clover at some point, which might be interesting.

I actually managed to find Pokémon card packs from the current set in a regular-ass Walmart for the first time since November 2024. And at basically their old price, no less!
This is the first time I've seen packs from any Pokémon set in a Walmart since I think March 2025. And those were going for somewhere around $9 a pack.

I wonder if it's just a fluke, if I only saw these because I showed up right before the store closed when stuff was being restocked, or if this is actually a sign that the supply issues are finally getting better.

Perfect order is a pretty dud set for scalpers, collectors and players so its sitting on shelves, next set will be similar but Greninja is at least a much more popular pokemon/chase.
Its most expensive card is Meowth EX because eits actually a playable card so true autistics want one or 2 of the rares for play. besides that Zygard isnt exactly popular and Mega Zygard is ugly as shit so that kills hype for the biggest chase.
It be a comparably cheap set to masterset though.

I really like the Clefable though so grabbed a few packs every time I see it at my local kmart so far.

The current release of Pokemon Champions feels like a forced beta test for before they switch to mobile versions. In the trailer they showed Tera vs. Megas and there's absolutely none of that. Alongside that some mons shown in the trailer aren't even in this release like Dodonzo. The tutorial also left a massively awful taste in my mouth considering this was supposed to be like the Stadium/Battle Revolution games in a way, and then the very first thing I see is Body Slam's animation where it's literally just the model being shifted up and down, not even a real attack/hurt animation. How the fuck are they supposed to make this entertaining for spectators when probably the most important part for watchers is so scuffed?
This shit feels like false advertising. I like the idea of Pokemon fights, it's like poker meets chess but you get to basically choose your own style with your own critters, but the execution always manages to be dogshit in official formats.
Lmao these dumb fuckers didn't think to remove Entertainment from Hawlucha when they gave its Mega No Guard. So it can now turn a OHKO move into a never missing menace in doubles
Shit like this is what they should be letting more Mega Pokemon do considering stuff like Mega Salamence, Mega Gengar and Meta Metagross exist at all, but instead we get Megas who just share abilities with their base forms with nothing interesting to bring to the table. This strat is honestly fair since most of the time in Doubles you're just nuking your opponent anyway.
If anything Entrainment passing No Guard to enemy Pokemon is the better option so long as Ability Shield isn't in. But this also just makes me pissed at it all because Mega Hawlucha should have gotten an ability that lets it use Flying Press better. The exclusive move they probably put budget for its animation isn't gonna be seeing any use over something like High Jump Kick.

Sorry lads, thread tourist and fucking casual here, so forgive me if this has already been discussed to death.

I never played Pokémon FireRed or LeafGreen, but back in the day, how was this recieved?

LeafGreeniggers getting absolutely fucking mogged, left, right and centre. Seriously, if I was playing LeafGreen, I'd be fucking fuming.

There is no fucking universe in which Slowpoke is an appropriate replacement for Psyduck. Starmie instead of Cloyster? Fucking Marill instead of Wooper?

In what world are Golduck and Cloyster better than Slowbro and Starmie?

Arbok < Sandslash
Arcanine < Ninetales
Vileplume > Victreebel
Golduck < Slowbro
Cloyster < Starmie
Scyther > Pinsir
Electabuzz = Magmar

Quagsire = Azumarill
Murkrow < Misdreavus
Skarmory > Mantine
Delibird < Sneasel
Qwilfish = Octillery

Both are fine overall, but LeafGreen edges out FireRed.

It's kind of hard to compare them, because rows 2, 3, and 6 don't line up neatly between the two games.

Sandshrew & Sandslash > Ekans & Arbok
Growlithe & Arcanine
= Vulpix & Ninetales (both good)
Oddish, Gloom, Vileplume, & Bellossom = Bellsprout, Weepinbell, & Victreebell (both kinda lame)
Shellder & Cloyster = Staryu & Starmie (both cool)
Scyther & Scizor > Pinsir
Elekid & Electabuzz = Magby & Magmar (both great)
Wooper & Quagsire > Marill & Azumarill (but it's close, and I'd say it's even in later generations once the Marill line gets Fairy)
Psyduck & Golduck = Remoraid & Octillery (both lame)
Skarmory > Mantine

So, yeah, I'd give FireRed the edge in the head-to-head equivalents, with 3 lines to 1 for LeafGreen, but a lot of them are even to me.

But then you've got the random smattering of Qwilfish, Murkrow, & Delibird for FireRed up against Misdreavus, Sneasel, and a whole line of Slowpoke, Slowbro, & Slowking for LeafGreen. How do you weigh that? And when you do, do you factor in the extra evolutions that Gloom & Scyther got?

I think the better way to pick between versions is to see if some of the Pokémon who you think of as "my guys" are among the version exclusives, and then go with whichever one has your bros (or whichever has more of them).
That being said, looking at it now, I still can't pick.
I was given FireRed by a friend when I was younger, so my choice was made for me.

Psyduck/Golduck's counterpart is Slowpoke/Slowbro. They're both found in the same locations between versions. That image is just sorted out in a retarded way. Slowking and Bellossom could effectively be looked out as counterparts since they're both Gen 2 alt evos, but there's no point in directly comparing them.
Murkrow and Misdreavus are counterparts. They're both found in Lost Cave, and later gens treat them like Dust Stone evo counterparts. Delibird and Sneasel would be counterparts since they're both single-stage Ice-types found in Icefall Cave. That leaves Qwilfish and Remoraid/Octillery as technically counterparts since they're both Water-types that can be fished up in the same Sevii Island locations, though it's kind of awkward with Remoraid having an evolution while Qwilfish doesn't, but it causes the overall exclusive numbers to even out because of Scizor for FireRed while Pinsir doesn't evolve.
Or at least, it would even out if it wasn't for Azurill, not pictured in that chart, which causes LeafGreen to technically have one more exclusive than FireRed.

You're looking at it through a weirdly modern lens.

Marill was gen 2's mascot. Pikablu was revealed early and people were excited for him. He doesn't fall off until after gen 3. So he's popular.

Starmie was popular cause Misty had one. No one liked Cloyster.

Slowpoke was popular cause of the anime at the time.

Ninetales was way more popular than Arcanine. Vulpix was one of the early mascotmons. It appears in a lot of places and Brock got one in the anime for a while.

Scyther and Electabuzz are the only real contenders on that comparison. Scyther was cool and edgy. Magmar looks retarded. Skarmory is another single evo people liked. Pinsir is neutral. So you end up with all the popular stuff in Green.

I think people should keep in mind smaller aspects of each version exclusive pokemon like level up and tm learnsets, gym leader and elite four match ups, as well as any potential replacements for said mon. With that in mind, here's my ranking:

Ekans (FR) line is worse than Sandshrew line (LG)
Poison type in a game filled with better poison types (especially since poison is only good against grass in gens 1-5, and it's grass types) sandshrew isn't amazing either, but if you give it dig tm it can solo Lt.serge.

Growlith line (FR) is just as good vulpix line (LG)
Since the growlith line gets intimidate but vulpix line gets flamethrower MUCH sooner, and also gets interesting status moves like will-o-wisp and confuse ray.

oddish line (FR) is slightly worse than bellsprout line (LG)
vine whip on bellsprout is a stronger move than absorb on oddish, both overwise do the same things

psyduck line (FR) is a lot worse than slowpoke (LG)
golduck is a average water type while Slowbro is stronger and more bulky while also getting the same moves + STAB psychic

shellder line (FR) is a lot worse than staryu line (LG)
Cloyseter straight up loses against fire types due to slow special defence and duel ice typing, while starmie is a fast special attacker with a much wider movepool (cloyster is actually one of my favourite kanto mons so this hurts)

Scyther (FR) is better than Pinsir (LG)
even without access to scizor, it is a fast swords dance user that can deal strong damage even without any good STAB in this game, while pinsir is just ok

Electabuzz (FR) is slightly better than Magmar (LG)
electic types are more useful than fire types in Kanto, and they have many of the same diverse move options anyways

Post game:

wooper line (FR) is better than maril line (LG)
Water ground is an amazing type, especially due to the lack of good grass type moves in gen 3, while azumarill is just ok.

Murkrow (FR) is worse than Misdreavus (LG)
I mean misdreavus isn't great, but it's another ghost type with levitate and slightly stronger attack than gengar as well, murkrow is a ok mixed attacker but doesn't have great moves

Skarmory (FR) is better than Mantine (LG)
Steel flying is a great defensive typing, while mantine isn't bad but gets outclassed a certain other water flying pokemon

Delibird (FR) is a lot worse than Sneasel (LG)
Sneasel isn't great, but delibird is...well delibird

Qwilfish (FR) is sllightly worse than Remoraid line (LG)
Both aren't amazing but Octillery has a very wide movepool and is a strong mixed attacker

cross gen evos (not a amazing comparison since theres only 3, 2 in FR and 1 in LG):

Scizor is worse than slowking due to having a worse movepool than the king

while bellossom is worse than slowking for having a even worse movepool.

final score:
FR: 5
LG: 8 (10 if you include the cross gen evo comparisons)

Realistically however, just play the game that has your favourites, even if they're the "worse" exclusively.

The thing that's helping Perfect Order stay in stock is that it's a small set (it only has 88 "regular" cards, 18 Ultra Rares, 11 Illustration Rares, 6 Secret Illustration Rares, and 1 Mega Hyper Rare) and that trend seems to be continuing with Chaos Rising only having 86 regular cards in the set. In addition to the above big box stores like Target and Walmart (the former more so) have been really good at keeping limits even if some are a bit extreme, 2 per SKU is okay for larger items like boxes and ETBs but it's insane for single packs.

Your post is very interesting but I'm going to say it doesn't impact which game people buy. There will be like 3 pokemon per generation someone really wants to use and they will buy the version with them in. Or the opposite version of what their friend is buying.

though it's kind of awkward with Remoraid having an evolution while Qwilfish doesn't
Qwilfish by itself is still cooler.

I'm not super connected to the TCG world. I just buy packs sometimes, go, "ooh, pretty pictures," and put them right into my binders. So maybe you guys would know better.
With stuff like
18 Ultra Rares, 11 Illustration Rares, 6 Secret Illustration Rares, and 1 Mega Hyper Rare
is there a way to find out (or at least estimate) what the odds are for getting these different kinds of cards per pack? Because with
11 Illustration Rares
I got two of them out of just the three packs that I bought. Is that normal? That feels high to me.
But maybe most of the new special cards just aren't as rare as a holographic was back when I was in elementary school, and it's time for zoomer unc to adjust his expectations.
