It be absolutly insane not to announce Gen10 on the 30th anniversary but besides that I do wonder what else. They are almost certainly teasing the awful Gen 10 Pikachu remodel. (Alongside gen 10 in general, of course.)

The paper-thin bolt tail always felt to me like an imperfect yet necessary compromise in translating Pikachu from 2d to 3d, but the new model's thick tail feels like a step in the wrong direction. I think it'd work if the extra thickness was made of fur like the Detective Pikachu movie, but it being smooth and rounded looks too much like a clay model.the awful Gen 10 Pikachu remodel.
Kind of just a general problem with 3D Pokemon in mainline games, with it affecting some games more than others. They're rarely given any sort of textures that would convey what they are - y'know like furry, scaley, skin, feathers, rock, metal - so unless the game has a really strong cel shaded type of lighting, everything kind of just looks like it's made of play-doh.The paper-thin bolt tail always felt to me like an imperfect yet necessary compromise in translating Pikachu from 2d to 3d, but the new model's thick tail feels like a step in the wrong direction. My theory: they are afraid of people cloning and glitching the livig fucking shit out of the games for some reason. We managed to clone shit in the 3DS versions no problem and they don’t want people to do that shit again.Like I cannot wrap my head around why they have not made all the classics up until the DS available on the switch VC especially now th switch 2 has GBA games on it.
Weirdly enough, the only 3D pokemon games with 3D models that I can see aging well is scarlet and violet of all games...and they reversed back to swsh style models the game right after anyways.Kind of just a general problem with 3D Pokemon in mainline games, with it affecting some games more than others. I don't like the texture work on Scarlet and Violet's models, GF (or Creatures) just slapped realistic textures on cartoon animals and left it at that. If they had done something like Pokken or SSBB and adjusted the Pokemon's proportions to suit the more realistic textures, that'd look better, but we all know that's too much to ask.Weirdly enough, the only 3D pokemon games with 3D models that I can see aging well is scarlet and violet of all games...and they reversed back to swsh style models the game right after anyways.
Is it meant to be somewhere in between classic and modern? Hopefully it animates better than it looks. Gen 10 reveal next month on Pokemon Day perhaps? They are almost certainly teasing the awful Gen 10 Pikachu remodel. (Alongside gen 10 in general, of course.)

I learned the other day that Japanese players are absolutely loathing the romhacking sense and dismissing their efforts as if they are nothing. You know what we were missing?
Another emerald vanilla plus QoL hack
The fact is that romhacking scene is very fractured between languages, the scenes in Japan, China, Latin America and the english sphere are totally different. Japanese hacks tend to be really fucking hidden and the very few ones we got were translated by fans (Altair/Sirius/Vega/Procyon) and that is just a minors part but overall they are absolutely hidden unlike other countries.I learned the other day that Japanese players are absolutely loathing the romhacking sense and dismissing their efforts as if they are nothing.
One argument is most devs are lazy and super comfortable just making gen 1 and 2 games time and time again with barely any progression… maybe that’s unfair generalization but look at this! Millions of Crystal romhacks, another millions for Red romhacks and an additional motherfucking million Emerald for good measure. Just scanning the names is not enough, you have to read the description and maybe watch some soytubers to see if this specific project is just a mere enhancement or a massive rework.
Also they’re bringing up shit like “you’re not Gamefreak, stop acting like you know what you’re doing”. Sorry but I am afraid I do, the fact we can’t buy berries in bulk- despite doing so no problem before- and the aiming doesn’t work half the time in the mega dimensions for some reason is very telling.
I think there i some Values Dissonance involved. The fact is that romhacking scene is very fractured between languages, the scenes in Japan, China, Latin America and the english sphere are totally different. I care not about Gamefreak supposed sanctity, but there are things that I dislike in romhacks like the free rare candies and modifying EVs and so on, giving 100% capture chance to all balls, auto healing every time.
I dont think this is the case. Fans always had the imagination to alter their stuff as they please and so on. They always did it. In Pokemon case the problem is that a long running series is that you went for so long that your ideas of "core ideas and mechanics" are different. There is pokemon games before and after abilities, there is pokemon games before and after physical/special split, there is pokemon games before and after Exp share mechanics. The idea of what a pokemon game should be and played like depends of what you perceive it in the first place.I think there i some Values Dissonance involved.
Nippon pushes conformance to and participation of the collective while submitting to authority. There is also how the Pokémon company is outright based i Nippon, which would probably be a form of cultural respect. My guess is that ROM hacking would be considered a show of ungrateful arrogance that assumes that you know better than a super-large company with lots of profit; to them, you can only make that much money legally if you did things excellently
The United States, in contrast, was outright founded i not following the norm. Even its government has its rulers only running on organised popular discretion. This, plus the capitalistic system that still somewhat survives today, incentivises private invention.
Latin America is not only overall poorer (to the poin that Western Europe is fa richer in comparison) but also has a more casual culture. This normalises piracy, which would accelerate romhacking.
Regarding Zhongwa... there, copyright is just a suggestion. If anything, a lot of Zhongwa's economy is based off ripping off and even modifying someon else' stuff.
For clutch? Dragon + Steel while keeping levitate.Which typing would you give him? Grass sounds nice, named Soygon (not saigon)
Even though Sableye is a bad mon battle-wise (love it's wonky design though), playing old school Sapphire with a Sableye rocking Foresight + Brick Break and Shadow Ball you can absolutely solo Hoenn E4 Pheobe's team.View attachment 8371695
Replaying the games using "bad" pokemon is pretty fun (shout out to parasect for carrying against the early game rock types and misty)
Where'd you learn that from? I could see some Japanese shitposters acting that way, but I don't think it's that common of a sentiment.I learned the other day that Japanese players are absolutely loathing the romhacking sense and dismissing their efforts as if they are nothing.
Maybe that is a country-local thing. I am familiar with Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, but not Brazil.Latin America (I am from here, so I have know this) is more closer to China and Japan in culture this aspect than the US. We modify foreign stuff and even accept it as it is without any resistance. It is paradoxal that we can ve quite rigorous to our institutions and at the same time fan be flexible to other stuff like culture.
One of the best examples in recent memory is to compare the implementation and usage of seatbelts in cars between USA and Brazil and the masks between Covid, Brazil had a rapid adoption of its uses without much fight against it to the point where you would seem as the weird one if you enter a car without puting it on straight away. Now americans had to have legally all cars to have it but not use it. Here if a cop sees you without the seatbelt during the drive, you will get a fine. Culturally Latin America tends to quickly adopts stuff that they enjoy it. Americans tend to need modifications for them to enjoy in cultural aspects.
So going back to the cultural aspects, here in Latin America, we tend to bend stuff to our liking, like remixing music, remixing food (using different ingredients, see the difference between Brazilian Pizza and american ones (we even eat it with forks and knives and don't use hands, the same way goes with fried chicken too)
I also like Chubbachu, shame the last time we see one is with that horrific fucking mechanic Dynamax (technicaly Gigantamax).Hot take: the only good Pikachu was Chubby Pikachu from Gen 1.

Ever since they slimmed him down, i stopped caring about him.
And now they want to slim him down EVEN MORE? For fucks sake, give this poor creature some food.
Are you playing the original or the improved versions?Been playing Snakewood
