especially considering how much you have to go through to even get there. Everyone just wanted rematches against updated, maybe competative built, versions of the teams they used in the old games.

But no. You only get half of that for reasons.

And then the lack of full teams did not stop in following Gens. Suddenly everyone just has 5 max. While you have 6. Is bizare.
Most Pokemon fans are boomers now anyway so I don't see why we're doing the hand holding thing anymore.

Don't forget the PWT where you face half a team. I get it, it's neat but I always hated how difficult it seems to be for them to just give us battles with 6v6 Pokemon...
If you're fine with triples then you can do full 6v6 battles in the PWT under that format at least, shame that's not a thing anywhere else.
I think ever since X&Y I've been wishing for 6v6 singles in the battle spot but that has yet to happen. 3v3s are just way too short and unforgiving to bad RNGs or bad lead matchups. They don't even have to cut them, just add 6v6 as an alternative on top of them.
Showdown is an option but I don't always want to abide to the tiering system when I just want to play with my favorites on console.

It was over for Victini once GF "improved" its cry

The Pecharunt event dropped yesterday as advertised, the Mythical Pecha Berry item via Mystery Gift’s “Receive via Internet” option and it doesn’t require an update. One thing that I noticed is that the giveaway has no end date meaning that you should be able to get it until The Big N decided to shutter the Switch’s servers in about 10 years or so or Pokémon announces an end date (whichever happens first).

On the TCG side we’re getting a new set in March called Temporal Forces, more Ancient and Future Pokémon are in it and said set also features the return of ACE SPEC cards. We also have a new Standard rotation to prep up for come March 5th when all E Block cards (which rotates out the second-third of the SWSH-era) will be rotated out. The TCG’s Expanded format remains unaffected since there haven’t been any Expanded-format tournaments since early 2020.

Jesus christ, the gen 5 callbacks are getting so blatant at this point that I'm almost suspicious. I can't tell if this is a massive red herring or a legitimate attempt at foreshadowing (just done with a sledgehammer to the face instead of a whisper in the ear).

I personally wouldn't use the TCG as hints towards any sort of Gen 5 remakes since it tends to bring back mechanics every now and then. For example, our current chase cards are Pokémon ex and they function in a roughly the same manner as RSE-era's Pokémon ex did. ACE SPECs are in the same ballpark, the only difference is that we now have one confirmed ACE SPEC that isn't an Item card (it's listed as Neo Upper Energy in the article) and that ACE SPECs are also effected by the Item/Tool split that occurred last year.

I'm aware and agree- I'm only considering it because it's in junction with the truly insane amount of Unova pandering in Indigo Disk (and arguably Galar if you want to count dex selection). Going so far as to revive Gen 5-specific gimmicks alongside copy-pasting gen 5 areas and music into the new DLC is not only laughably lazy but also such blatant signaling that I'm genuinely starting to think it's some sort of bait and switch.

Pokémon cloning is back on the menu in SV thanks to the poor coding of the DLC,
Unfortunately the robustness of the legitimacy checks now prevent these cloned Pokémon from being used in online or transfered to home, it still allows for item cloning to be effective.

I imagine the Pokémon company will rush out a fix for this one thing having still not fixed any lag issues in the game at all. Priorities.

"Hey Gamefreak, how did Kieran revive the trio in the first DLC? Did it have something to do with the peach or what?" GF: "Lol fuck you, chicken dance"

Shigeru Ohmori should be shot on sight for his crimes.

i also love how his schizo meltdown is caused by the fact that the player has literally 0 option to prevent it. that's what i love in my interactive video games, i want them to be completely unchangeable and linear like all other forms of media

Kieran did nothing wrong and I'm tired of pretending he did. Carmine, Drayton and Ohmori all get the rope, and Kieran gets the Ogerpon.

Also, what'd they do with Arven? Did they manage to ruin the one good character SV had? Great.

I wouldn't say "ruined", but he retains that "I'M the player character's BEST buddy" attitude he had at the start of the Area Zero scenario. It's
quickly resolved after he meets Kieran but tbh it was kinda jarring.

Speaking of Kieran I can't stress enough how the option to return him to his former look was needed.
