- Why is Carmine such a fucking cunt? Is it just supposed to be cute and funny? She's clearly happy to lie to Kieran about Ogerpon with any reasons given being an afterthought. Why the fuck are we supposed to side with her? Why is she not responsible for pulling this shit but Kieran is responsible for reacting badly to it?
You really have to understand that many, hell most, people don't really think about things like this. If a character is "cool and badass" enough (usually on the protagonist's side) fans will justify or ignore anything. I have seen comment sections on stories where the protagonist or protagonist ally being a rapist was A-OK.

Remember when you had Mew, and he HAD no lore until that movie everyone saw? Even then, the lore was "it came from South America and gave(literally?) birth to Mewtwo. The two fight in the movie". The interesting stories were about HOW you obtained, all the ridiculous methods like finding it under the truck and many other schoolyard rumors. In-game, it's actually easiest to encounter it while using a glitch, which also lets you encounter an even more interesting Pokemon: Missingno and 'M. I remember reading fun fan fiction about those back in the day on TRs Rockin'(RIP), all that sounded way more interesting than this cringefest, and Mew is still a better mythical/legendary(as are most of them)

To me, it sounds like somebody at GF wants to be a writer, but they were cursed working on Pokemon until the end of their career. This is the best they can come up with, and most they can do with the setting. Even Gen 8, where the story was literally unfinished or cut out and makes no god damn sense, was better than this shit because at least then you still have the "pokemon journey" of traveling around the region. Gen 9 doesn't have a story, it became a generic open world soulless slop with objective markers and pointless side quests that make up the "story".

What a cursed franchise, depending on how you view it, the franchise's writing either peaked with Gen 2's simple story that focused heavily on it's setting and the previous title's baddies, Gen 5 for trying to actually have characters and a serious plot, or Gen 7 because it actually HAD characters that mattered thru out it's entirety. None of those are actually good, just passable(especially compared to this)

Edit: For reference, this guy covered every story from gen 1-7 back to back. Give it a go if you have a few hours spare:
...now compare it to his take on gen 8
...and 9
The bar was never high to begin with, but the fact that it got low enough for people to notice is quite something. Note that we're ignoring the actual quality of these games, which is a whole another topic all together

If anything that's all the more reason for Pokemon specifically to make sure she's called out on it. Pokemon is a franchise for kids and it should be teaching them good lessons about how to be a decent person, not that the world is divided into people who get to be assholes and people who deserve to be shat on for all eternity.

then they do another reveal that Carmine is the real villain of the story for bullying Kieran (not that you can "reveal" something that's that blatantly obvious).
Carmine is concerned about her brother because she knows he is a massive bitch and will react badly to the truth about the ogre. And guess what, she was right. Kieran didn't know the truth about the ogre and still identified with it. I repeat, Kieran identified with a murderous, monster pokemon. It was just a coincidence that the ogre turned out to not be evil, but that doesn't change the fact that Kieran is a fucking murderer-worshipping dweeb.

The problem is, we don't really get much of a feel that Kieran's obsessed about Ogerpon to the point that she and their gramps needed to hide the info from him. I'd understand if for example we get to see his room in-game and it's plastered with ogre paraphernalia or some shit, but just by in-game information alone, the other characters' insistence on keeping him in the dark is just illogical.

An exceptional question:

How ould you redo the story of the whole game, whether that be the main game, the Teal Mask, the Indigo Disk, and th epilogue?
I would cancel the games entirely and start from scratch. The only thing of note this game has is the paradox pokemon and area zero, everything else gets thrown in the trash and we start over.
And really, the paradox pokemon/area zero is just a rehash of ultra beasts/ultra wormholes anyways, so it's not really that much of a praise

Retard, did you just mash through the dialogue? The entire point was Kieran was right to suspect the ogre wasn't just some murderer. The grandpa says as much, that Kieran had probably subconsciously picked up on the truth. Which isn't even a high bar, the townspeople already had to be completely retarded to believe the wrong story so easily. And Kieran didn't react badly to the truth, he reacted badly to being lied to and excluded. You can't say someone will walk somewhere bad so we need to break their legs, then point to them getting mad about their legs being broken and go "see I told you!!"

An exceptional response: I've already drafted a rewrite of TM. I've been working on a Pokemon-like game engine and remaking XY with it, TM can just be inserted as the postgame since I found the Essentia story boring. Paldea should be near Kalos, consider it a bit of cultural exchange.

I can't write to save my life, so I'll just say if they wanted to focus on Kieran so much he absolutely should've been portrayed in a more creepy manner than just your average little brother.

Forgive my spergout here, but I'm not surprised that what you completely said is beyond retarded, and that's saying a lot. Kieran and especially his grandpa understood that the ogres aren't actual murderers, and the townsfolk never believed them until it was too late. But then again, you've skipped over the cutscenes and just assumed that Kieran "worships murderers" or some other stupid bullshit you want to believe

honestly arven's story was surprisingly good but he's also the only character with depth. nemona's autistic and penny is a bitch who had no redemption arc and still no redeeming qualities. i wish she would've gotten beat down more to help convey that getting boolied is not an excuse to be a twat.
i find it amazing how the epilogue somehow made the sword and shield postgame's cringe pale in comparison. at least there's actual material to rework and not just deviantart hypno fetish

Does Deoxys remind you guys of an autistic child, too?

Kieran didn't understand shit. He believed ogres are the good guys, but that belief was based on nothing. He's a typical Joker-worshipping incel, but in the Pokemon world. Again, it was just a coincidence that the ogre turned out to be a good guy. Kieran worshipped that monster when he had no reason to believe it wasn't a murderer. He got lucky.

In FireRed / LeafGreen in the Sevi islands you save a little girl who was kidnapped by a Hypno. The girl goes so far as to cry and call the Hypno scary so it's not even a "oh I was hypnotized, where am I?" sort of thing. The girl was terrified.

It's not post game though, you can initiate the event after Blaine. Saw it during my FireRed Nuzlocke recently and my thoughts were "what the fuck" at the time.

Fucking nigger retard, he says why he doesn't believe the story in-game. At the third signpost when it talks about the ogre stealing souls or whatever, he says there's no stories about that actually happening, so he thinks it sounds made up. He doubts the ogre-murderer story because it's flimsy as fuck, which frankly makes him the one-IQ king in the zero-IQ village.

Absolutely fucking based. It's amazing also the double standard with her and Kieran. She gets bullied offscreen so she earns the right to be an asshole to everyone for all eternity; he gets bullied, it's ignored and Carmine jumps down his throat for so much as (rightly) calling her a jerk, you do bad enough to him that he finally snaps and suddenly HE's the bully for snapping at one kid and maybe calling Drayton ex-champion offscreen, which earns him the right to be dumped by everyone on for all eternity. What the fuck.

Also can I just say I fucking hate the whole "uwu Kieran learned it's ok to lose!!" bullshit. Because that's not what he learned, what he learned was that it's not okay for him to win, only other people can. He was perfectly okay with losing up until the player was railroaded into breaking him and giving him that complex in the first place. Then he became obsessed with winning because he'd learned that losing means you lose things important to you. That lesson was never undone, all he was forced to learn over that was that he should just give up on expecting anything out of life, and to accept being shat on by Drayton et all for all eternity for the crime of stepping beyond his station. If they wanted him to learn it's okay to lose it would've been much better for him to see someone else accepting a loss, like Nemona, but no he just needs to be dunked on forever and always so she has to beat him.
It's about the same thing with the poison trio. Apparently they should have just accepted being dumb, weak and ugly because that's how they were born. Never have ambitions, never go beyond your designated station, stay in your caste. I don't even know how someone with that mindset ended up working for Pokemon of all fucking things. Should I not use nature mints and IV caps? Should I not be raising my Pokemon beyond the level they were caught at, evolving them, teaching them better moves, bringing out their potential? What a crock of shit.
