The lack of characters designed by Ken Sugimori this time around is really weird. The characters not looking like Pokemon characters really takes some getting used to. Little things bug me, like changing how names are (selectively) displayed. Fuckhead the Janny, for instance. But, Pokemon Trainer and Hitchhiker still come before the name. The school setting is just diet Persona, right down to classes and tests. I can get why JRPGs that don't sell gangbusters took a page out of that formula, but Pokemon really didn't have to. Stakes feel pretty low overall here too. The villain teams just kinda get lamer and lamer and stop being real threats after Team Flare for some reason. Badges beimng required to make all Pokemon obey and not just traded ones is kinda lame. Makes me feel kinda pressed to get the Gyms out of the way so I can level up without worry.

While watching some livestreams of S/V, I did notice that there seems to be a lack of trainer classes in this game. Are Youngsters, Lasses, and Swimmers even still a thing in the game?

Youngers and Lasses kinda got rolled into Students. And there are less classes, but ones like Student have a pretty wide variety of models. And ones like Backpacker have different hair colors all the time in this one.

After the Finn-style sandwich-eating became widely spread, many people wished that Pokémon go back to sprites.
I concluded that would require a full-on demake.

Apparently, I was no the only one. Redbregade05 is making one:

I then thought about doing demakes of the other 3D games, but some already had the same idea.
Someone already converted th entire Sword & Shield games, including DLC places, to a playable 2D ROM: https://whackahack.com/juegos/pokemon-espada-y-escudo-gba/
Someon else is converting X and Y: https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonROMhacks/comments/ynxqq5/pokémon_xy_gba_demake_new_screenshots_06th/
This is really cool. I'll play that ROM when it's ready.

Has anyone else noticed the trannies?

This shit NPC dialogue is why I stopped played SwSh. The localization team needs a good smacking because they're not funny in the slightest. Translate properly or GTFO.

I just want Team Rocket to come back with some zany world domination plot that requires the scenery to be chewed. And fewer (useless) Pokemon. And more fluid UI design. And a bunch of post-game content.

PREPARE FOR TROUBLE.

you actually read the dialogue? lol fuck that shit, i know the dialogue has been bad in a lot of the more recent games, so i just kinda skim over it to make sure nothing important is being said, although usually anything important is highlighted because this is a game for children.

Speak for yourself. I love every single one of them. Granted all of the future ones being robots is a tired concept.
The primal pokemon designs are cool and a nice novel concept. The future ones however are fucking boring and lazy. Also, the naming scheme is the single fucking worst thing they could have gone with. "Iron treads" MOTHERFUCKING WHO? THE FUCK IS AN IRON TREADS

Barring some framerate issues (which aren't bad for me while docked) I can't understand all the bitching the game is receiving. I think it's a ton of fun and kind of cements the idea that Arcaeus was nothing more than a beta for their open world concept. The ability to have a very diverse team right out the gate was very nice.

Biggest issues for my specific autism:

I want the X/Y trading system back, every system since has been a disappointment. I don't want to have to talk to people IRL or online to be able to make a non wonder/surprise trade. How am I supposed to get all the vivillions?

And I want a fucking skirt.
I've seen like a hundred articles about how the character customization let's "all" genders wear all the clothes but there are only four outfits and they all have mandatory pants or ugly mailman shorts. I get that it's a uniform but at least let us get a cuter pair of shorts or a skort for the girls. I don't care if they let dudes wear it too I just hope (hopelessly) that they will add something cuter.

Gameplay has been fine, the open world looks pretty good and auto battle is neat. The new pokemon are ugly except the green kitten who I am not letting evolve lol so he is worthless. The robot dragon motorcycle is def someone's fetish but I try to block that out because it is a mildly useful transportation device.

They also fucked up shinies but that will hopefully get patched.

finding gen 4 and 5 peak is boomer tier? I'll take it. Just wanna grill and play good pokemans
I don't care about which gens you think are peak (ONLY gen 5 was peak. Gen 4 was too rough to be considered peak imo). There's still fun to be had with modern Pokemon. It's just held back Game freak's apparent lack of technical prowess.

I don't understand how people can be so forgiving of how ass these games run on the Switch. Like you're fucking brainwashed.
If the games were actual indie titles it'll get meme'd and shat on forever but since this is a billion dollar franchise™ people will eat shit and thank the corpo for it.
From watching some streams on this game the graphics look mediocre and bugged, the pokemons are meh tier and the character designs go between "ESG score" inspired to actually decent. GF is so lucky to have such loyal consoomers and nintendo.

As long as the gameplay is fun, some people are willing to look past the horrible performance issues.
I get that, but for me the issues lie more what kind of precedent this sets for Game Freak in the coming years. Why is it okay for Pokemon to release yearly, unpolished games akin to FIFA titles? If this were any other Nintendo franchise like Mario then I'm pretty damn sure a whole lot more people would be willing to blast games of the quality that S/V are.
