So after Sobble ended up becoming a tranny monstrosity, I'm nervous about my starter pick.
Without too much detail, does Sprigaytito become an abomination?
Let me put it to you this way- how do you feel about Incineroar? If you like Incineroar, you'll most likely like Sprig's evo.

And hey, you could always evolve Sprigatito once and give it an eviolite.

Trick that let's you leap over various spots/cliffs/etc.:

I was originally planning on getting Violet, but the more I see of the past Paradox Pokemon, I think I'll go with Scarlet instead. Slither Wing in particular has become a personal favorite design wise.

Also Hydreigon is exclusive to Scarlet, and it's one of my favorite Pokemon.

I only played up until the first gym and while there’s quite a bit of dialogue in the beginning like any modern Pokémon game, that mostly ends once the actual game starts (e.g. once you leave the school). There’s also an option to skip cutscenes that’s available right from the start, though I haven’t tried it so I couldn’t say how it works.
Skip cutscene button is the same as it’s been since LGPE, it only skips actual pre-rendered cutscenes.
I'm aware that the recent games are exceptionally hand-holdy, especially in SwSh where you can't take three steps without being escorted somewhere or told to do something to advance the plot. How does SV compare?

I hope they fixed pop-in issues that used to plague the overworld. I know that in some places in SwSh, only about 4 NPCs were shown at a time in the cities. It may be optimization issues, but when you compare it with other contemporary open world Switch games that don't have as much of a dramatic pop-in issue, the excuse falls flat, especially when patches can be applied via updates.
SV apparently has that same issue SwSh had combined with more dialogue than Sun and Moon. Pop-in and the “reduce the framerate of the model” thing from Arceus have not been fixed.

Someone should trick Game Freak by saying 'I want to make a pokemon game for mobile devices' and then just make it for Steam Deck. I know it's not the switch's entire fault for these games running like shit but I would love to see a game with the same graphical love of Colliseum in my lifetime.

What's wrong with Pokemon Snap 2?

So, it's a better Steel-type Payday? Sick.

TPCi released the beta for their new Pokémon TCG Live app to the wider community a couple of days ago.
It’s a bit of a mixed bag, it has both pros and cons when compared to the TCGO. For me, the biggest issues are the lack of a landscape mode for tablets (and larger phones), the inability to turn off win/loss animations for avatars, packs only giving you 5 cards (I’ve heard mixed responses on this one, some people say that the 5-card thing only affects free packs while others say that packs obtained from code cards also have their card counts dropped) as opposed to 10 cards, and the app looking grainy on tablets due to it being designed for phones. I’ve also heard other people complain about the avatars in general and the game’s UI too.

But outside of that I don’t have any major issues with it, the crafting/dusting system is a MAJOR step up from the crappy trading system that allowed trading “companies“ to flourish on the TCGO’s official forums and a majority of meta/Tier 1 cards can easily be obtained. The way a match flows takes some getting used but its not too bad. You can transfer your stuff from the TCGO (I haven’t yet, I’m still trying to complete a playset of non-playable URs from a certain set in order to maximize my credit payout when I open packs from said set) and get ”premium” currency if you have any leftover unopened packswhen you do. You also get “budget” versions of some decent competitive decks as a “starting” gift with one of those decks being REALLY popular in the current Standard format.
Oh, and one more thing…
See you guys at 9 PM PST or earlier, especially if your local non-corporate vidya shops are selling the Scarlet/Violet early.
