The only reason why I hold Dexit against them is because they kept lying about it until the last possible second, and then they lied some more. If they were upfront about it and explained themselves better, it probably wouldn't have been such a big deal (though some people were always going to be mad about it). Like you said, with so many designs at some point you have to face reality.
Oh for sure, Gamefreak was talking out their ass until the second it actually happened, I won’t deny that. People were gonna be pissed either way, this fanbase is that autistic, but how they handled it was like dumping gas on the problem.

At this point though, I’m more amused by everyone thinking GF would keep those unused models stored in every game forever, not realizing that “Fuck Off Money” doesn’t get around the fact they have a limit on how much they can actually store in any given game…

I'm interested in Digimon Survive but I hope it's better than Cyber Sleuth, which was just decent based on what I played.

Cyber sleuth was decent until you realise most of the game has like three level designs and even less level layouts. The internet is a series of the same fuckin’ tubes over and over again.

Also the outdoors areas were as quiet as a morgue, and most of the dungeon themes sucked. Music in general was mostly weak.

I played cyber sleuth to completion, which is more than I can say of even some Pokémon games, but I could not bring myself to play hackers memory.

I'm more mad about the lies than the lack of all the Pokémon. I'm mad that they lied about quality animations and polishing the games when the only new assets are new Pokémon and characters. Hell, even if they had to lie, all they needed to do was make SwSh worth the money but it's not. It's bland, boring and broken.

Plus, being made to use other Pokémon than the same old team is a good way of broadening your horizons and see what others have to offer.

Ironically Digimon in general is the only monster taming game series that gets any regular discussion but that’s due to the popularity of Cyber Sleuth and the fandom obnoxiously shoving the game in everyone’s faces to play instead of Pokemon. They also get super insufferable with their worship of their current director of the games.
I played Cyber Sleuth and the game before it but it was boring as hell. The futuristic internet landscape doesn't click with me as I'm not a sci-fi fan and the characters look boring af. At least have visually appealing characters to make up for it.
One thing I give Pokémon slack for is always having kid protagonists with no option for an adult or at least be able to make them look more mature but Digimon doesn't deliver on that for me. Or maybe I'm no longer a fan of silent avatar protagonists with a cardboard personality.

Replaying Gen 6 over the weekend made me realize just how much wasted potential Gen 6 had. Probably my favourite regions aesthetic wise. I also liked how you could have a job. I wish the mainline games would further expand on the role-playing elements. I mean, its fine being a standard trainer and all, but it would nice to be so much more.
Gen 6 is a blessing to play after Gen 8.
I replayed X a few months ago and it was great how many additional content the game had to offer I didn't even knew about from my last Playthrough in 2015. They didn't had to add that but did it anyways. Kalos is a decent region that offers a great variety of encounters to play it again and again with several different parties.
They just lack a third version like platinum to really shine, with extra postgame content, maybe cameo of 1 or 2 characters for bossfights, beefed up enemy teams and the battle frontier.

The trend of rushing and cutting corners was not as bad as it is today, even tho this trend of modern Pokemon was already clearly visible.
Heck, even Gen 7 felt like a wholesome game after Gen. 8, because of the bossfights, the sidequests and the amount of input that went into the regions flair.

In my opinion, the dexit is one of Gen 8s smallest flaws.

That's how I feel right now about the 3DS games after playing Sword. When I replay Y, I like to stroll around the region, taking in the sights and music, that region got done dirty by being the first 3DS game, it could have been so much more.

I'm actually replaying Ultra Sun right now and I'm addicted to playing the Ultra Wormhole minigame to see if I can catch all the buffed shiny chance Pokemon. I've got three so far and when I'm not doing that, I'm just simply walking around the region, enjoying the scenery, grinding and completing the Pokédex.
You can also get legendary Pokemon and Ultra Beasts in the wormholes but I'm saving them for later. I caught Dialga because I love Dialga. A part of me wants an Ultra-Space focused game because there's so much possibility with that universe and do something completely different.
Even though Sun and Moon came out in 2017, it makes me feel nostalgic for some reason.

I've been playing in a few Pokemon TCG prereleases lately (for Astral Radiance, a set that'll be out on the 27th) and they honestly make me wish we'd go back to Play! Pokemon's original tournament structure. I miss the days of doing Battle Roads blitzes, kicking ass in the intermediate championship levels (City, Regional, and State), and seeing the best in the country duke it out in National Championships.

But now? We have League Challenges that have replaced Battle Roads, only one of the three intermediate championships is still being run (Regionals), and both State and National Championships have been retired for International Championships.

And while the World Championships are still there they've lost the spark that used to make them a thing of beauty (an extremely 🧩 beauty that knows no borders, but a thing of beauty nonetheless.) thanks to International Championships stripping away the country restrictions that Nationals had and TPCi shooing away a lot of the Japanese "vendors" you'd see at Worlds just so that they could jam in a poorly-run "Pokemon Center" they manage.

*sigh*

Considering how much of a breath of fresh air PLA was I partially blame SWSH's lackluster feeling on Game Freak not having much experience with the Switch, it's part of the reason why I have some hope for Scarlet/Violet despite knowing in the back of my head that going the pessimist’s route is the way to go.

Speaking of USUM I really need to fire up my 3DS again and mass-import some Ultra Moon-based Ultra Beasts to my HOME account, they tend to do well as far as trade bait goes due to vanilla SM and SWSH having a cap on ‘em.

If I end up getting a copy of Ultra Sun then I’d really be in business.

I'd stopped playing TCG around the time Unified Minds forced a lot of my favorite cards out of Standard (I also just kinda hated how centralizing the TT-GX mechanic was). Did they really drop City and State Championships? That's a goddamn shame!

Thankfully it's gotten somewhat better in recent times, we now have a tournament-viable non-Rule Box Pokemon (EXs, GXs, and the new Vs are considered Rule Box Pokemon) deck in the form of Rapid Strike Malamar but V-centric decks still rule the roost.

Yeah, City Championships were replaced with League Cups in the 2016-2017 season and State Championships were folded into Regionals around the same time.

I've got some "sad" news for Pokemon fans, it appears that Pokken Tournament DX will no longer be a part of TPCi's Play! Pokemon program after the 2022 tournament season ends.

I can't really say that I'm surprised by this, the game is just under 5 years old and it hasn't been updated since 2018. With GO becoming a new section of competitive play (YECCH!) for organized play as of this tournament season I guess TPCi wants to retire this outdated "third pillar" that's somewhat niche and replace it with a new one that almost anyone can get into.

How well received with the game, given that it didn't seem to make a huge mark, compared to other fighting games in general.

And I've been watching the VGC tournament streams, since they have moved back to playing live events in-person now, and something feels very weird about everyone being masked up, and there was also camera shots of a Pikachu plush and a Substitute doll wearing masks, for reasons that I'd rather not think about. That reminded me about how Riot Games was going to implement a mask requirement for players playing on-stage during MSI, but ended up dropped that requirement.

The casters aren't wearing masks though, for some reason, although the casting booth is separate from the booths where the players that are on-stream play their matches. It did remind me of how during DOTA 2's The International 10 last year, the casters had to wear masks while casting the games, because one of the casters got infected with COVID, and had to sit out for the rest of the tournament.

I’ll bet no matter which new monster designs are shown, people will suggest “Neopets” or “Digimon”

Except I have yet to see any Official Pokemon that lacks the Ken Sugimori Style.

As long as they fit the style, there’re going to look like Pokemon.

Yeah, it's inaccurate to say they look like either Neopets or Digimon. They look like Yokai Watch and Monster Rancher too.
