Still sounds good though.

I guess the way they did it in X&Y is still OK, although Pikachu may sound out-of-place with the anime voice.

(What if they made all the 'mons have anime voices starting in X&Y instead of enhancing the 8-bit noises?)

Seeing as Eevee and Gigantamax Meowth use their Japanese anime voices on the Switch titles even thought they are dubbed in the anime(the latter was mostly due the team rocket Meowth outright talking), it would most likely just be their Japanese voices rather than the dub, since making new cries for every language would be a massive pain, especially since there are many cases in every dub language where the cries are inconsistent over the 25 year run of the anime, especially from Pokemon that never belonged to a main or even reoccurring character but have appeared more than once.

I was thinking that may have been the case re: all the languages/regional releases.
But now I low-key want them to use guzzlord's anime cry in the games.

Do Sword and Shield and later games still use the same noises for Gen 1 & 2 mons as X & Y?

Outside of Eevee starting with Let's Go, the cries are the same as X and Y. In Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, there is an item called DS sounds. It not only reverts the music to the original Gen IV versions of the songs, it also reverts all of the cries to what they sounded like in Gen I-V

Do you know where I can find the DS sounds item? I haven’t been able to find it since.

Man, I hate Eevee's voice clips because it says "Eibuei" instead off "Eevee". It comes across as lazy and cheap. They can't be bothered to hire a voice actor to say Eevee a few times?
I'm willing to bet that the French and German versions don't have localised voices either.

Eevee's Japanese name is "Eievui". So really, that's just the Japanese VA saying what they know.

Fun fact: Eevee's seiyuu is Mika Kanai, who also does Satoko Hojo from Higurashi.

And Ikue Ohtani (Pikachu) is Sachiko from Corpse Party.

Can't deny these two ladies' talents.

Was he ever a big pokemon guy? I mean besides the very obvious. He always seemed like a bigger Sega fan; Goddess Bluestreak and all that and not Avata-Arceus or whatever autistic veneration it could be.

Yes, very much so. Still got the most recent games, had many Pokemon he kept transferring up he's had since Ruby, made tons of homemade Pokemon cards, many of which had fakemons that were far more imaginative than Sonichu(For example, Booloon, a Ghost-type balloon, made many years before Game Freak made Drifloon/Drifblim). Also he really hated Harry Potter solely because he felt is was drawing attention away from Pokemon when the books first got popular.

That's a really good name and idea for a Pokemon tbh.
Wouldn't surprise me one bit if he ever trained up a Drifloon or Drifblim at one point and called it exactly that, and I guess it wouldn't exactly be misappropriation since he drew up that concept before a Pokemon company artist did, as far as we know.

Unironically an original idea by Chris, along with handful of others (Out of uhh, a truck load of unoriginal and blatantly traced and/or ripped off designs from other franchises)

Yes, very much so.
There's also the pocketmons websites he made all the way back in 1999.

Chris would also dress up as Ash Ketchum and go to TCG tournaments at a bookstore when he was in high school.
