The Pokémon franchise is full of insane fantards that freak the fuck out if they catch a whiff of you saying something reasonable like, "I grew out of it." "I prefer Digimon over Pokémon" or "I hate Serena's anime portrayal"

It's like you cannot outgrow it and must suck Gamefreak's cock eternally and like it, wart and all with their mobile gacha games.
I honestly dropped Pokemon entirely around X and Y, now the DS games were of varying quality and I did like Platinum and Soul Silver. But I decided to challenge myself and bring every pokemon (and I mean every pokemon at the time) from the GBA games to the DS games to the 3ds. I marathoned installments and used the awful capped safari zone transfer and online features for trading until I had every monster from each generation. Some I had to wait to get in future games due to them not appearing in earlier titles. I used the dream world frequently and even got a Kangaskahn from the pokewalker thing. I even did the gamestop special events to fill in my ranks.

But after then transporting everything to Y it became abundantly clear that they were phoning shit in. There's so many better RPGs out there than Pokemon and they were just coasting on the popularity and not making any major quality of life changes.

I have not gotten a Pokemon game since then. If Nintendo can put out Xenoblade and yet somehow Pokemon is the bigger franchise but vastly inferior when it comes to game mechanics it shows that they're not even trying. It's like World of Warcraft, it's sheer momentum and arbitary things like Nostalgia that keeps it going, they're not trying to improve the series or make it better.

Hell, YouTubers were roasting the shit out of the initial low frame rate, copy-pasted trees and glitches and it was meant for the public.

I haven't played any of the games since the early 2000's (Pokémon Colosseum), and I gave up wanting to play. I will occasionally see PokeTubers and gameplays

Not only are your pokemon as likely to get it as digging up a gold coin in your backyard but, since the games give you little to no information on what it does, most players are left confused as to why their entire team now has it and are suddenly cured of it with seemingly no changes.
Ehhh, no, it's a .6% chance to get it during any battle. As long as you're autistic enough to play for long enough to roll a few shinies, you'll get it once. All it does is double EV growth; and the Power items still give +5 points per battle making them significantly better. It's a cool boost though.
This started the shiny debate, my story is that I once found a shiny Graveler in Diamond. I don't think over ever caught a shiny again. If you know me, you know I am an autist who only catches psudeos and decent BST mons for the sole purpose of destroying anything that moves. I forget to bring quick balls.
My guess are again, hardcore fans and Serena-wafuists/defenders that think any negative opinion on her makes you a toxic POS.
Why not just say "Beach Cynthia is Ass" or just spout VGC bullshit logic they tell others? They get pissed.

People hate anime profile pics, but you seem like a decent one, @Cheerlead-in-Chief.

who the fuck was still watching the anime in the X/Y arc, that's what I want to know
X/Y was more of a zoomer thing, which is why the fanbase became insufferable around that time (particularly in the shipping community, ugh) even though the reactions to the Kalos League was bloody hilarious. I did try to check out the Sun and Moon anime because I figured "I'll watch it subbed", but I only saw the first two episodes and the new art-style just weirded me out.

I'm trying to watch D/P now that I have the DVDs, but something about it doesn't sit right with me despite folks saying it's a good series, and I can't be arsed to watch episodes. It's not the dub, even though it's a rough dub, so it might be the pacing. Much like with Johto, it takes Ash like 17 fucking episodes to get to the first gym, but the difference is there's no snappy 4KIDS script to distract me from the pacing. Also this animation, like lol, why is everyone so fucking short in this series? I legit thought Viz fucked with the ratio on the DVDs, but nah, they actually look like this.

The 2000s were an awkward time for anime to transition to digital, I swear.

Although I still play pokemon and pay attention to it, I don't play nearly as much as I used to as a kid. It was partly becoming an adult and also the fanbase that kind of turned me off from it, specifically the Smogonites and competitive people sucking the fun out of it for me and stopped me from being as engaged.

You are right though, the Pokemon fanbase is like a spectrum of autism, you have the competitive players, the furries, the shippers, the lore spergs, the waifufags etc. the list goes on there is different types of autism in different areas of the franchise.

Oh man! I haven't watched the anime since the Orange Islands episodes. The anime just felt half-assed compared to the games. As the player I could possibly become a Pokemon Master and capture all the Pokemon in the game.

I myself stopped playing Pokemon after Black and White. Not because I thought it was bad. In fact it's probably one of my favorite gens. By the time X and Y came out though, I sort of moved on from the series.

For me, Pokemon I would imagine is like the Harry Potter of video games. A good gateway series to introduce kids to the medium. Even then, it's good on its own merits and it's nice to revisit it every now and again to relive childhood memories or simply as something to mix things up. But eventually, you'll want to move on to something a bit more challenging and complex.

The fanatics are shit, but I’d argue the ones who are determined to hate everything about Pokémon past the first couple Gens are just as shit.

I mean, sometimes I wonder with all the people who call themselves Pokemon fans on Pokemon boards who do nothing but complain about Pokemon, sometimes I wonder if they are even that much of fans to begin with anymore.

Technically, it's more along the lines of "mandatory retcon issued after we finish each region." Although, I won't be surprised if the writers have gotten lazy, at this point.
Given that the currently running anime is a hard reset on all of the prior ones, there's no telling rather they'll start retconning shit or include a new episode or special for every new thing pokemon has.

True but to be fair the other side of the coin where you have people who screech about how much they hate the series and spend all their time foaming at the mouth at every piece of news that comes out is just as bad if not worse. Or the ones who make entire accounts devoting all their time screenshotting rabid Pokemon fans and getting mad at random internet people. Some will talk about how horrible the series is while retweeting and posting porn of it,

This is especially bad when it comes from fans of other monster taming games. I’ve extensively documented the monster tamer community’s behavior in a few of my posts in this thread and in the Pokemon clone thread but the tldr version is that they’ll do shit like flip out on Pokemon fans calling a game something innocent like “Pokemoneqsue game.” and accuse them of causing other games in the genre to fail in the west.

The worst part is that all of these people are just as plentiful as hardcore Pokemon fans and just as amusing to watch. Both sides need to touch grass but that will never happen.

Remember how Temtems was half-finished and people were up in arms for it trying to break Game Freak's perceived monopoly on the genre?

Ah, Temtems, the “I can’t believe it’s not butter” of the mon genre.

It's very contradictory on its resets, then, 'cause when Mewtwo recently showed up in Journeys, it was explicitly mentioned that's the same Mewtwo from the first movie, and that Ash still remembered him from Mt. Quena in Johto, therefore proving Mewtwo Strikes Back and Mewtwo Returns to be anime canon.

Journeys from what I can tell is the most fanservicey season to date, but it still apparently can't commit to anything.
