My first shiny was a Tentacool in Sapphire. Thought it was a glitch or something, but all my important Pokemon were on Emerald so I figure it'd be fun to see what a glitched Pokemon does to your game. Go to catch it, realize I had no Pokeballs.

First and only non-event shiny was in Crystal, found a blue Psyduck south of the national park, which I accidentally killed. Somehow, when I reset it only took a few minutes to respawn, which lead me as a kid to believe shinys were fixed spawns for like 10 years

I've actually heard of this type of story before, with someone saying they could reliably spawn a shiny Sentret on the first Johto route. I'm guessing that the Crystal RNG isn't too complex.

Despite them making it more complex over the years, autists have still decoded it to the point that you can do RNG abuse in any Pokemon game.

My shiny stories: First shiny I ever got was a Tyrogue that hatched from the egg the guy at the daycare gives you in Pokemon Crystal. I ended up evolving it into a Hitmontop.

Years later, during my playthrough of SoulSilver, I encountered a shiny Ekans. Caught him it and named him Nag, after the male cobra from Rikki-Tikki-Tavi (I later caught a normal female Ekans and named her Nagaina, and then later a Zangoose I named RikkiTikki).

I can't remember what it was specifically, but I recall at one point during SoulSIlver returning to one of the early game routes and encountering a shiny, but all my Pokemon on hand were vastly over-leveled, so there was no way I would have been able to catch it.

On the 3DS Virtual Console version of Crystal I found two shinies within 5 minutes of each other once. Unfortunately it was very early in the game so it was just a Sandslash and a Rattata, nothing special. But to this day I still wonder if that was bugged or if I just experienced godlike luck.

There have been cases of that. Two to three at best. That said, luck really is a huge factor.

The two Shiny memories that I had was finding a Shiny Druddigon in Y, which I caught, and a Shiny Mareep in a Horde Encounter in Y, which I also caught. I was nervous as hell during the Mareep encounter, as you have to KO the other four in the Horde before you can catch the one left.

My first non-red Gyarados shiny was a random Ducklett in White.
Managed to somehow find a shiny Sentret in the Safari Zone in SS too. She broke out of the first ball but didn't run away, so my anxious ass got so stupidly nervous that I threw another ball and immediately looked away from the screen. Looked back about a minute later to be greeted to the "give a nickname?" screen.
Pretty sure they're both currently sitting in a box in Black 2.

I was ten-ish years old and walking through the Rusturf tunnel when I came across a pink and green Whismur. I caught it, somewhat surprised and confused, and walked back to the Verdanturf Pokemon center, which I THINK I previously skipped.

There, I was informed that my pokemon had some kind of disease, and I didn't really understand what they were discussing - only that I most of my pokemon had been hit with some status effect called PKRS. I considered these two pieces of information, and did the only logical thing:

Reset my game and start again.

Years later, I have another fun story.

In SwSh, I resolved to earn a shiny the hard way. Specifically, I wanted to get a shiny silver Corviknight.

I also wanted to complete my dex, so in lieu of getting my shiny corviknight, I joined some server to do all the trade-based dex entires. While I was doing that, I naturally traded a Gurdurr I'd caught to evolve it into a conkeldurr.
When I got it back, though, I realised something was... off. It had red parts where it normally had purple. It was... a shiny conkeldurr.
thank god the other guy was decent enough to let me keep it. I traded it off for a French ditto named Metatron and soon got my intended shiny.

That reminds me of my Pokerus story!

When I was informed my Pokemon had Pokerus as a kid I literally cried because I thought my Pokemon would die. I was so glad that they were okay. Usually when you hear of viruses, you think it is a bad thing.

Speaking of Pokerus, that has to be one of the most obscure pokemon features to have ever been implemented.

Not only are your pokemon as likely to get it as digging up a gold coin in your backyard but, since the games give you little to no information on what it does, most players are left confused as to why their entire team now has it and are suddenly cured of it with seemingly no changes.

Is Pokerus even a thing in the recent titles?

Lol, dude, don't worry. It's so pants on head obscure to any players that you literally have to look it up online or ask someone older. Never got Pokerus save for my Black 2 game, but that's only recently. Legit, though? I wouldn't have reset my game. I'd just ignore it and keep playing.

Still, back then, I had no idea what any of the EV and IV mumbo jumbo was until I looked it up and studied all I could. I used to breed and EV train like crazy for my emerald play.

That was until I discovered Pokegen. Time consuming breeding and training is a thing of the past when you can literally hack the game and give your team perfect everything.

Speaking of which. I recently built a team composed of manga Red's team for the Diamond Battle Tower. From the Adventures manga, specifically. To anyone here who's at least tried it, they're... actually really well rounded when you know what you're doing. Granted, rather than use the exact same moves they use in canon, I used their Smogon tiers for Gen IV to at least give them competitive advantage.

The Pokémon franchise is full of insane fantards that freak the fuck out if they catch a whiff of you saying something reasonable like, "I grew out of it." "I prefer Digimon over Pokémon" or "I hate Serena's anime portrayal"

It's like you cannot outgrow it and must suck Gamefreak's cock eternally and like it, wart and all with their mobile gacha games.

who the fuck was still watching the anime in the X/Y arc, that's what I want to know

Ash became even stupider and childish when SM rolled around, and if anyone can even believe it, got slightly more toddler brained in Journeys.

He was arguably more mature in XY.

This kid, for nearly 25 years, ladies and gentlemen. Then again, many of their staple franchises never age, like Doraemon, Sazae-san, and Crayon Shin-chan. Just like in the west when you take into account other kids shows like Arthur, Madeline.

The only exception would be shows like Hey Arnold!, where the characters do gradually age and change.

Rugrats literally went for more than 10 seasons before cancelation, and the babies barely aged during that run.

Ironically, initially the creators were gonna show Ash as an old man looking fondly at his Adventures in the early Pokémon movies. But of course, too drastic.
