Hot Take: Graphics peaked at PS3 and have been an arguably diminishing return ever since
I don’t see this as a hot take. AAA Companies have painted themselves in a corner chasing after high fidelity graphics and big budgets.

Now the chickens are coming home to roost and we are on the verge of a major collapse. And if it happens, I say good riddance.

Regions too, do we really need another Hoenn/Alola too much water region?
The way the head dips makes this meme so much funnier than it has any right to be.

EDIT: More stuff has been datamined regarding the Switch releases
Oh great, so much like every re-release port of an ISO, everything will have shuffled logic. Well at least speed runners will have fun.

i don't really get the hatred towards palworld,
I don't hate it. I view it the same way I view Digimon. Except where Digimon has its own legacy, Palworld kinda has that BOTW slop in it I talked about earlier though. It has its place and carved out its own niche. I just don't think it's very good, but it also hasn't had the 10+ years Pokemon had. It'll get better and get its own identity as long the franchise grows. There were other Pokemon Clones. They all failed. It's a tough competition. After all, does anyone remember Monster Rancher?

Imagine flushing 20$ for a game you could have emulated and you aren't even allowed to give your rival a funny name.
Pro tip: Nintendo figured out NillKiggers a long time ago. They didn't figure out everything else. Use your imagination.

I like the bird :)
I too liked the bird but it's also a bird. It'll depend on what they evolve into honestly.

I have a friend who's really worried about the fire starter turning into furry-bait, but i think it's pretty obvious this time it's going to be the water one, we're having a water-type Salazzle for better or worse.
They can always pull a fast one. I'm rooting for slightly angrier Pomerian every time. It doesn't get bigger. It just gets angrier.

I could see myself growing to like the new starters, they're so ugly and derpy I feel bad for them.
I honestly think that's what they were going for.

DQB2 was easily one of the best games I've ever played, so I'll likely pick up Pokopia.
Honestly, Pokopia looked pretty solid. GF is missing out on gold if you can't walk around with Rotom-Stereo.

but let's just see if this posts successfully first.
This is the most autistic post in this thread but you are correct.

Alright I'm all caught up with thread. No more brick wall posts.

I shall save my opinions on the Pokémon direct unti later. I wan to ge these out of the way, first.

S/V somehow getting more of a pass with the fanbase, compared to how the DW fanbase absolutely trashed 9 for how many things it messed up (at least in the Western community, I don't know how the Japanese felt about the game) also shows how Pokémon's fanbase is also a travesty. And that giving mediocre games a pass deal will make GF just do even more of the bare minimum in future games.
…pass? Essentially all I see is bashing and fixes!

bruh, read the description

All game screens are not real. * Product details and specifications are based on the video game ©Octopath Traveler, Octopath Traveler 2, LIVE A LIVE & Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake.
Whoops. Sorry.
I still actually wan this concep to be a real game, if only because I wan to see the results of that experiment.

Have you completed the game? Past the Red fight and bonus fights?
...not yet. Currently, I would rather go through Aesthetic Red firs, then Polished Crystal, then Emerald Seaglass.
Besides, the milestones of the new big versions give m excitement.

I hope the extra dev time means they're actually doing something
God, I wish I was that naive...

They blow most of their money on shit that no one buys, plushies, and LAWYERS. The time is just on fixing the more glaring bugs with more spaghetti-coding and even worse bugs.
If Gamefreak were actually dedicated to making a good game, we wouldn't have this thread.

Given that you still haven’t been able to find them, I wonder if it’s something intentionally obscure like it’s not a sprite, but instead a command to draw lines directly with specific colors? I wouldn’t put it past a tranny dev to do that if he’s that paranoid about people modding out the flag.
I sleep on this new gen. Currently beating my second run of Fate/EXTRA, now with Archer

Any news in the dewoking the tranny game?
The sprite data is at D73A64, anchored to E38348.
queerflagsbandw.png
Unfortunately, I still do not have the palette data. I could either try to sequentially brute-force search the palette data or try to modify the actual hex code directly. After all, the two substitute flags will already use the same colou references from the queer and transgender flags, bu there i still the LZSS compression.

Seriously I cannot stress enough how utterly pathetic this 30th anniversary was. 30 fucking years of Pokemon and all they had to show for it were new mobile games or updates to mobile games, games that'll probably be played once or twice then forgotten, a tournament,* the equivalent of Pokemon Showdown but official and all they needed to do was strip down everything but the combat of an official Pokemon game so it's lazy anyway,** a single port of a GameCube game***, and the actual mainline game that people would be most interested in isn't even releasing on the anniversary.****
So overall you got a big 'ol shrug from the Pokemon Company on their 30th anniversary because they know they can coast on the Pokemon name for decades, if not a century with minimal effort. This is hilarious and a sad dagger to my heart as a former Pokemon fan.

*Which is...I mean, neat but I'm personally not interested in it because they're all the same at this point.
**Again, neat for those into competitive play but the most competitive interesting I have with Pokemon is difficulty romhacks or modes in romhacks and fangames, Elite Redux for example, so I'm again not interested and neither are a lot of people I'd imagine.
***Which is easily the best game announced so far and it's a fucking two decades old and can be easily played on a free emulator, but normies and children will be niggercattle
****The game should have been developed well before the anniversary and released on the anniversary but that implies they actually give a fuck about Pokemon, game would've been shit anyway given their track record,

I just wrote up another long post analyzing WiWa's art style and it disappeared when I tried to post it. Might shoot myself and/or Null.
First time? Yeah, it makes me want to jump off a bridge sometimes. Always write your shit on a notepad before longposting.
Played Heart and Soul recently. I had fun.

Ah, I see you chose the best Johto starter. Been meaning to try that romhack, how is it so far? Besides fun.
She's only LEVEL SEVENTEEN you sick fuck!
God I need an edit of this image of with your quote and Stabler in Red or Ash's outfit:

I’m pretty lukewarm on the announcement, but I am enjoying what the internet is coming up with because of it.

Judging by the "sexy" eyes, this little Sobble wannabe is going to end up pure coomer fuel. Water Salazzle all the way. We can hope for the best. But I no longer have much of that kind of hope on hand.

The birb might become something cool. Floof dog will probably disappoint. I really want a quadruped cat final since both cat starters ended up furbait. But I will settle for a quadruped dog final. It's gonna be furbait isn't it? *sigh*

A bit of an update:
The correct palette is #3, bu that does not colour everything in the tileset correctly.
I then used this guide: https://forums.serenesforest.net/topic/29625-how-to-find-most-palettes-in-the-rom/
I ended up with a palette at D26BC4 (nearby the tileset), anchored at E37DA4, bu the colours look even less right... until I actually pressed the 'Next' button a the bottom of the app.

I tried modifying the tiles in th editor, bu that just forced a relocation of the tiles, even when the new tiles had less colours. The same thing happened if I exported the tileset, manually edited the sprite, and imported the modified tileset.
I ended up saving a ROM of each technique and tested them.

...NEITHER WORKED. THE FLAGS TAYED THE SAME.

I find my avatar source an appropriate depiction of my feelings here:

My guess is the tileset being copied to multiple places, bu that is the only place where that specific tileset is located.

The fact that there's apparently Telemetry data reporting in the Switch versions of FireRed and LeafGreen made me think for a second. If GaneFreak/TPC are actually paying attention to the data, would they be using it to see if Post-Game content is worth it? It's primarily used for Game Progression and Team Composition apparently in FRLG. I feel like FRLG don't have much to offer in terms of post-game (literally just Islands 4-7 and the Trainer Tower). But, whenever they decide to re-release Emerald and they implement telemetry data tracking like in FRLG there might be more to consider with that sort of data because of the Battle Frontier.

Not going to lie the dog starter is kind of cute. Granted it’s extremely basic and bland but it’s cute in an inoffensive way compared to the other two. That said, while I really despise acting like a genwunner with starter designs and playing the “new thing bad” card or accusing any art of being AI generated these starters seriously look AI generated. While the dog starter is cute looking closer at it I see elements from so many other Pokemon, the most offensive being Fennekin like ears. And the other two look like mish mashes of previous ones too. I know the leak mentioned something about the Spore creature creator and now I question if they have software like that making monster designs now.

I managed to score two of the Sam's Club-exclusive Prismatic Evolutions Surprise Box+Booster Bundle sets during today's online drop. It's no Ascended Heroes but I need to kill my beliefs in decent TCG pulls once and for all.

I also picked up LeafGreen off of the eShop, turns out I had 20 bucks on my account thanks to a gift card I got over the holidays. The game looks crunchy on my TV and the Start and Select buttons are mapped to the usual X/Y buttons alongside the + and - buttons.

I just realized that it's been ten generations and we've still never had a platypus-based water starter.
You can have your second lizard in three generations, but still no platypus.
What the fuck is going on over at Game Freak.

The last Pokémon game I actually played was Moon on 3DS. Have not touched the switch games. The only one I know of that has positive reception is that ninja looking one.

Did they patch any of the games to make them...actually playable?
Here’s a general breakdown:
  • USUM (assuming you played base Moon): This is the superior version of Gen VII games, the upgrades are well worth it and the “negative” mark they have is that they redeemed Lusamine in the games’ story.
  • LGPE is an easy skip, even Shiny hunting has no incentive in it due to the way encounters work. The story is basically a retread of Yellow’s.
  • SWSH is playable but you need to buy the DLC in order to make the game not feel half-baked. The game’s story is probably the worst I’ve seen in a Pokémon game.
  • PLA is a nice change of pace from past games with its survival and crafting aspects. It was playable out of the box and the free updates are a nice cherry on top. The story is better than SWSH’s but it’s still mid-tier. You can get Shaymin and Darkrai without attending an even but you’ll need save files from SWSH and BDSP respectively to get ‘em.
  • BDSP is completely skippable, only play it if you want a free Mew (you’ll need an LGPE save file on your Switch) and Jirachi (Like Mew you’ll need a save file from another game, only swap LGPE for SWSH) without transferring from the 3DS games and, if you have a completed PLA save and enough time to soft-reset it for it, a chance at catching a Shiny Arceus.
  • SV was a mix between being decent and borderline unplayable on release with it edging towards the former as more updates came out with the most recent update making it enjoyable to some extent. Like SWSH you’ll need to get the DLC in order for it to not feel half-baked. SV’s story is somewhere between PLA’s and SWSH’s with it leaning more towards the latter.
  • PLZA follows PLA’s example but it removes the crafting aspects (survival shit is still in the game) for the usual “buy-shit-from-a-shop” stuff that other games are known for and swaps the series’ long-standing turn-based battles for real-time battles. The vanilla game is fine but it gets boring quickly, the DLC addresses this (and brings back crafting in the form of donut-making) but it also gets boring. Like SV the story is somewhere between SWSH’s and PLA’s but I’d put closer to PLA’s

I only want the meowth and just a playset of them.
The Meowth is just another Fez where every deck will run one.
Besides that Mega Sarmie and the Pysic energy seem to be the only okish cards and maybe Skarmory if Metal gets better.

…pass? Essentially all I see is bashing and fixes!
Given SV's success, I think us complainers are a vocal minority.

I just realized that it's been ten generations and we've still never had a platypus-based water starter.
You can have your second lizard in three generations, but still no platypus.
What the fuck is going on over at Game Freak.
I doubt GF would do a water platypus, it'd be too similar to that fakemon-turned-Temtem. A flying-type eeveelution was scrapped because it was too close to a fanmade design, so they'll probably want to steer clear of other monster catchers' designs.
These designs are wasted on Temtem tbh. They're pretty solid.
