Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Wow another year another waste of fucking time. You know people keep lumping Nintendo and the Pokemon Company/Game Freak as being the same thing but at least Nintendo realizes when they have nothing to show they don’t waste our time. The Xenoblade overview trailer the other day was about as long as anything actually worthwhile in this whole thing. Also another year without them caring to just re-releasing the older Pokemon games on the NSO or as purchasable products in the eshop…. But hey least we have a new season of a Netflix show no one gives a fuck about lol.

But moving on to my thoughts on the only parts that matter. Champions isn’t a known quantity yet so I’ll hold my whole opinions because if it’s a real full stadium/battle revolution style game that’s cool but if it’s just a battle sim and that’s all I’m less interested. Z-A looks interesting but I need more gameplay and to see the actual point and structure of the gameplay itself. By this point with Legends Arceus we had a basic idea of what our goals would be in the game, completing the Pokédex and solving the overall mystery of why we are here in the past. All I see from Z-A is we’re just some teens from out of town visiting a future city and Zygardes there I guess. I do like that we have control over more of the battle, that’s actually really cool even though it’s just going to be removed in the next mainline game anyway. But I really liked Arceus and they are taking their time with it so I’m hopeful.

Overall this was a waste of fucking time that could’ve just been a 5 minute overview trailer.

See, it’s contrivances like this; where they had the initial idea of setting the game in one city without thinking ahead how to organically implement the core game setting of wandering into different locales to find Pokémon, that tells me this game isn’t going to be good.

If they wanted to do this they needed to set it in the past, where all the zones can be sprawling and connected or so far into the future that new habbits have been created.

It feels like they had the idea and then realised Zones would be way easier to implement

Shot of the new character designs I've been bitching about. They look like worse New Snap designs. Which is impressive given that New Snap included Discount Shauna and protagonists so bland that they almost rival SV's.

Also, upon further reflection, that A-Z has a cane. He is definitely not younger. And that guy has a Buneary on his head, not a small child with pom-poms... are they going to pull another Saguaro and make him all soft and cuddly on the inside? Boring

Staying at a hotel called "Hotel Z" that "tackles incidents throughout the city." Screenshots of the game look a little better than SV, but holy shit the bar is so low that basically means nothing.
These are also incredibly blurry, but given that the map wasn't any better I'm willing to chalk that up to the website for once.

Agreed I was kinda hoping they would’ve been more creative with the wild areas. Like if it’s set in the future just have future technology create literal wild areas. Kinda lame that it just seems to be an abandoned street or alley way for Pokemon lol.

Edit: Would’ve been a awesome idea to set it in a post apocalyptic Kalos where you literally have to repair the city, zone by zone and that’s why a lot of the Pokemon are just hanging out in the streets. I mean X/Y had the whole super weapon and war storyline and they’ve already set the precedent for different timelines and universes. So it could’ve been the universe where Lysandre succeeded and fired the weapon off and wasn’t stopped.

God I hate the new art direction. I don't know what to call it, but it's certainly worse than what we've had in the Sugimori era.
Also, why does A-Z look like a faggot now? I prefer the hobo look. Frankly, I just don't think Kalos has enough lore or nostalgia going for it to justify making this game, Isekai Diamond/Pearl with brand new Pokemon on the other hand was an awesome idea, especially with all the mythos of the region. Seems really forced, just dropping a next gen XY remake style Z game would have been better.

Yeah, like, there’s ways they could have done the future plan that wasn’t so dull.

Heck, since you have teleports…each Zone could have been a teleport door to a futuristic habitat zone.

Arceus had a much better feeling and reasoning for Zones.

I disagree. Has plenty of Lore. But they then decide to set the game in the Present or Future instead of the past.

The entire game culminating with you trying to stop AZ from blowing up the world makes total sense, whilst giving a reason for Floette to ignore him for several thousand years, it partners with you.

There's enough people that look back on XY and think 'this could've been great with x or y' that I think GF can justify doing it to themselves, nevermind that none of this looks like anything most of those people have wanted for years. Most of those people are old amourshippers or just associate the 3DS era with being a better time anyways (not that that's a high bar), but given that Gamefreak hasn't even dangled Greninja in front of them I don't think any of them are going to be happy and this seems more like some pet project than an actual attempt to do Kalos right.

Wait, this game takes place in the future? Hard pass for me, the only reason to make it somewhat interesting is if took place in the medieval or renaissance France.
Looking at it more, this game looks more like Palworld than Pokemon. What a joke, no wonder they seethe-sued. The only remotely interesting part of the game now is seeing how well it handles real-time combat, maybe they're experimenting with dropping the traditional turn based entirely for Gen 10.

Maybe im more optimistic because I didn’t like X/Y and didn’t even think a Z version would’ve made anything better. Again this is why if they are going to take so long, either show a shit ton or don’t say anything. This game could be awesome but now all we’ve seen is at most the first five minutes of the game and with no idea what we’re even doing here besides sightseeing. This game should’ve had a whole 19 minutes to itself, showing off the story, the gameplay and all that shit. Also why the fuck are those the starters! Arceus had a nice range but two fucking Johto starters? Seriously? Also if those two get new megas and my boy Typhlosion gets nothing I’m going to mace a GameStop employee in the face!
