I've never got around to playing Conquest but I've heard good things about it, I even heard that Zekrom (my favorite) gets some time in the spotlight, so it's certainly on the to-play list.
Go play it! Go play it now now now! And yes, Zekrom gets some spotlight but mostly as a side thing, as one of Nobunaga's perfect links. It's generally overshadowed by both Nobunaga's Hydreigon and especially his shiny Rayquaza. At least you don't need a dead Wifi event to unlock it like Reshiram does, though...

Another gen 5 spinoff that wasn't just Unova mons was Rumble Blast, but it removed shinies and the Rumble series has always been a grindy mess. You can't upgrade your Pokemon's power or special traits, so if you want more powerful Pokemon you have to catch new ones, and that's a luck-based grindfest.
I actually played this one a lot on release and I have to say that it might be my favorite in the series. Low bar given the quality of the Rumble series, but I don't mind the lack of shinies in favor of what Blast brought to the table. I really enjoyed the multiplayer and the soundtrack is great. I still wouldn't really recommend it, mostly because I wouldn't recommend any Rumble game for the same reasons you gave, but you can do much, much worse if you're adamant about playing at least one.

Also go play Conquest. It's really fun and nobody ever talks about it.
Seconded. It's also weirdly one of the only Pokemon games to have an active modding scene. While there have been a few attempts at making maingame style romhacks (and some of them have some pretty decent sprite and pixel art) there are actually multiple fully-fledged reworks of Conquest that do things such as adding in all Pokemon up to Gen 9 (for those who actually care about Pokemon post-Gen 5) or heavily rebalancing Conquest to encourage more competitive (and QoL) gameplay. They've even found ways to add new maps to the game.

The biggest downside is that you may have to interact with discord and most of the people involved seem to be younger zoomers who take their cues from the Tumblr side of the old Conquest fandom.

For those looking into playing it, also check out the Gamefaqs. There were some wi-fi events that are obviously discontinued but can still be accessed through codes, which can also be used to unlock ingame Pokemon event spawns.

lol Go glitched and all of the legendary raid stuff for the Univa tickets is unlockedView attachment 7028122
lmao same
It did the same for that earlier thing where you had to pick Candela or Arlo. I hadn't bothered to finish it because I'd have to find Arlo to fight him and I didn't give enough of a fuck, but then it just came back with everything already completed... nice fucking game niantic

After doing some testing, I can confirm that despite what the resources say, Fire Red Remixed(FRR) romhack does NOT have Physical/Special split as advertised. From Counter/Mirror Coat and Reflect/Light Screen being effected by move type rather than individual moves to curiosities like Intimidate not lowering attack power of Bite, I had my doubts for a long time. I finally evolved my Magikarp and Gyarados confirmed my findings: Double Edge does way more damage than Waterfall, both physical moves, to a Fire type. This does throw a wrench in a few of my sets, for example I just now bred a Rhyhorn with Crunch, the move being absolutely useless now on something with so little SpAtk. The only positive here is that I have a whole bunch of eggs ready in the daycare to bring over to games which do have Physical/Special split.

Still, not really as big of a deal as I thought it would be. I am still planning to play a big QoL romhack with everything you would expect in FRLG, and this ain't it. The main attraction is catching all the exotic Pokemon in the world, and this is what I am treating this romhack as: One giant Safari Zone. Still, P/S split would have been nice. BTW I can also confirm that Legendary encounters work exactly as I thought they would: Static encounters are no longer there, but the Legendary Pokemon itself has a small chance of appearing in random encounters, infinitely. Take Seafoam Islands for example, Articuno is no longer present at the bottom of the cave like it would normally be, but I can encounter it on the first floor as a random encounter or anywhere else, leading the dungeon to be somewhat of an item scavenger hunt unless you want to find your way to the other side to travel to Cinnabar. I assume other dungeons will be like this as well.

Surfing really opens up the game, as many of the secret Legendary encounters from other games are hidden behind a body of water. Other than going Legendary Bird hunting I can now go Golem hunting as well. Biggest problem is money actually, I am buying well too many PokeBalls than the original game intended and that is also cutting into my healing item budget. The only bright side here is that now that I know how the battle mechanics work, I can min/max how much power each individual Pokemon is doing.
Presents in an hour
https://youtube.com/watch?v=1OzE8kFmhBIPrepare for boredom :semperfidelis:
Is there anything even to look forward to? I don't count ZA since I know they will fuck it up in typical Gamefreak fashion.

lol no
hence the "boredom" bit
I'm expecting Z-A starters and some really shitty gameplay, but we all know that's only gonna show up after 30+ minutes of shilling mobile slop
I really cannot get over how the logo looks like someone getting kicked in the crotch. I swear i'm not going crazy, it's like one of those 50s advertisement people. Hold on, i'm going to illustrate it

-mods merged my double-post, above was formerly separate. Anyways, a Presents play-by-play follows-

it begins (with mobileslop as always)
Concierge promo, then GO reminder, Masters reminder, Cafe announcement
Speed is so breakneck that they've gone through these four in about two minutes
(will continue editing as things are announced)
Darkrai and Cresselia in Sleep coming soon, how these guys weren't in there from launch is a miracle
Suicune reminder in Unite, Alolan Raichu (April) and Alcremie being added (can't remember if they were already?)
New battle type called First to 500? I think this was already announced
we're at the six minute mark btw they're going through these fast
every new announcement is being transitioned into with pokemon from various generations. Gen 5 before a TCG Pocket announcement...
...which is just announcing that Triumphant Light set that I think got posted about a day or two early?
releasing tomorrow
Kalos border before another new TCG announcement, except this one is for the actual TCG game. Return of megas as ex in 2025. Mega Lucario and Gardevoir announced.

-actual game news from here on out-
rotom phone case giveaway for SV, SB00KCASE for Scarlet and VB00KCASE for Violet
Starters in Mighty Tera Raids, pseudo raids planned for the future
covering the rest in spoilers
new competitive MOBILE APP (also available on Switch) with SwSh models, seems to be a Stadium successor. Purely competitive. Includes Megas, Tera. Called "Pokemon Champions". "Now in development", developed by The Pokemon Works (planned by GF). Compatibility with HOME planned, but there's a little blurb about not every HOME mon being available in the game. Lollll
-
Latin American Spanish available for Z-A and Champions at launch, and will be used in future expansions as well. Some blabbing about being able to reach more audiences than ever before for about 80% of this announcement, you can skip it after the first 20 seconds if you must watch it
-
Z-A news.
For Switch
Protagonists are completely different-looking to Serena and Calem, graphics are indeed SV style but dont look so shit.
Chikorita, Totodile, Tepig starters, yes really. Makes 0 sense and I'm very confused.
Some weird shit to do with teleportation? You get to climb on buildings and glide across them or something.
Game looks super fucking plastic. Like holy shit I can't get over this, it's like a slighly worse LGPE.
Lots and lots of megas returning.
Younger A-Z with Eternal Floette.
Zygarde 10% looking over the city, narration begins
Patrat confirmed lmaooo
High-tech redevelopment plan. Prism Tower is already there. Still seems to be set in the past?
Character designs are fucking ridiculous, one dude has an entire fucking child's head for a hairstyle.
Quasar Inc is who you're working for, I think? Bosses are unrecognizable. New people I think.
Lumiose has "wild zones", new habitats where Pokemon can thrive.
UI looks vaguely similar to Palworld but I might be drawing false correlations
BATTLES ARE COMPLETELY REAL-TIME. NO TURN-BASED.
0 mention of new mmegas. Only returning ones shown.
Megas have "C+" moves? no idea what that means
STILL NO DEFINITIVE RELEASE DATE HAHAHAHA
just "late 2025"
God bless
Penny phone ring at the end of Z-A announcement, with some weird thing about a "match announcement" or something?

I don't hate it, the g2 starters need more love. Especially chikorita.
I don't disagree, these three are notorious for being underloved... but why two Johto starters? Seriously, I get Chikorita but Totodile is relatively popular and it's really awkward to only replace the most popular member of the Johto trio.

Also, I really hate the new designs a lot. Like oh my god lol. I couldn't have dreamed up worse designs if I tried.

EDIT: leak from a minute before the Presents indicates this shit has been in dev since 2023. Lol lmao

Tepig, Tottodile and Chikorita.

I get that Kalos starters are bad, but none of these interest me either; Johto has the least interesting slate of starters for me of the original 5 gens and Tepig is a poor man's Infernape/Blaziken. Given they went with two Johto starters I wouldn't be surprised if they were originally going to go with all the Johto starters but cut Cyndaquill due to Typhlosion getting infamous due to the leaks.

Also I hate Rotom phones. I miss the day when there was still some separation between the Pokedex and mobile phones. They're annoying enough irl the last thing I want is one that can actively bother you on a whim.

Character designs are barely better than Galar/Paldea, still look ugly and bear little resemblance to the original Kalos designs. Gen 6 did a lot of things wrong but one of the few things it did get right was character design, sad to see them dump on that in pursuit of some mystery meat international standard.

>Popplio wasn't chosen for the Water starter
>Turtwig wasn't chosen for Grass starter
>Fennekin wasn't chosen for Fire starter

shit company, hope they go under

...mega potential? Like, maybe they were the ones with the best mega designs? No idea, but we better get megas from them.
Also it's back.

I'm going to be honest
I don't expect new megas
maybe one or two for Zygarde and Zeraora just due to the teraleak shit, but I think there's a damn good reason that all of the focus in every trailer surrounding megas involved showing off many (not even ALL) old megas
every chance that they're just saving it for later, but given that PLA only introduced 7 new regional variants... I highly doubt there are going to be even more megas and frankly i'm expecting less

Glad I focused on catching Articuno instead of watching this mess. I would infinitely prefer Eternal Floette be introduced in a mainline game than another PLA like slop. Don't expect extra points for bringing back Megas when we had them in Gen 7, as they were expected to be there.

lmfao, what the hell is going on with Gamefreak that everything is getting leaked? Is this brand new or was this part of the Teraleak?
