I haven't had the opportunity to try it, what does the battery saver mode do?

It just dims the lights and replaces the map with the Pokemon Go logo so you're not wasting as much as power. Also, sometimes the app craps out on you while it's in battery saver mode (it's not specifically because of the battery saver mode, it's just the regular glitches that plague the game) and doesn't record your footsteps/alert you to nearby Pokemon. So you should check on it periodically.

Ok so I downloaded pokemon go and it sucks. When does the fun start?

Honestly, I would just wait until the app is updated. The current version of Pokemon go is basically a beta; they're planning on adding lots of updates in the future to make it more enjoyable (trading, Pokemon beyond Kanto, fewer glitches/technical issues, etc). Tbh I'm not really enjoying the game anymore because 1.) I live in a suburban area and pickings are pretty sparse here and 2.) the app is so unstable that it quickly becomes more frustrating to play than fun.

I'm probably just going to wait until future updates to play it further. Still though, something that really bothers me is that we're going to have to shell out $35 for a clunky wristwatch in order to know if there are Pokestops and Pokemon around without the app open. You should be able to enable push notifications for that stuff, but instead you have to buy a wristwatch that literally costs as much as a full-fledged 3DS game from the main series.

I've played it here and there, it's kinda...Okayish? Not really that into tbh. The game freezes and pauses way too often to be fun.

I did manage to catch most pokes in my house, though, and the other day I caught a Vulpix after an interview, so it's not all that bad I guess.

It's still surreal though, passing by the kiosk doing chores I heard a man complaining about the pokemon "everybody's searching for pokemon these days" and then on the way back home spotted three bearded 20 something year olds running in search of a nearby pokemon. It's really surreal, wasn't expecting the Pokemon fever to hit in these places tbh.

So much this.
I keep trying to mess around with it when I'm in line at the store or something but it's about a 3 in 5 chance the damn thing even loads, 1 in 5 it loads before it's my turn at the cashier.

My bro has a rather new iPhone, his froze maybe about 5 times out of a crazy 30 we caught yesterday. I have a 3 year old Samsung Galaxy and it froze constantly to the point where the app actually locked up my whole phone. I saw the same Pokémon my bro did, only caught about 5. 3 of them froze while catching and the game was merciful enough to let me have them.
Sooo it could be your phone? I kind of need a new one so maybe the immense amount of freezing is because my phone can't handle it cause it's old.

Anyone else notice more diverse spawns lately? It used to be nothing but Ratacatapidgeyrows on my street but now I'm seeing Oddish, Drowzee, even a Growlithe every now and then.

I think they get slightly better as you level up. My first day out was nothing but pidgey-rattata-weedle and now it's a bit better.

Caught a Staryu today when visiting a cathedral.

in b4 pokemon zionist propaganda.

The higher your level, the more variety and strong wild Pokemon. Same thing with better items too

Yeah mine's whatever pile of cheap they had for a hundred bucks at the store so that might be part of it.

I've seen a lot of people playing it now that it's been released here. Mostly 20-somethings, but also a lot of kids. One of the candy stores is apparently a pokestop, so due to the influx of visitors they started selling caramel apple pokeballs and themed candies.

Also, one of the churches has been listed as an occult location. :story:

-- Edit --
And I just caught an eevee. :heart-full:

It turns out there's a spawn point around where I work, and I can catch some common crap from my desk. Now that I'm leaving it open all the time I notice that my character wanders around back and forth a lot even though I'm stationary. Is that my sped phone's bad GPS or is that normal?

Oh, good. I was wondering because the avvie ran across the street before and mulled about.

Kind of miffed that a horsea appeared in my backyard for a few seconds before vanishing. There was absolutely no time to get in range. :\

I had the same thing happen with a Kabuto. Plus with how overloaded the servers are, the footprint tracker always stays at 3 even when I'm right on top of it, so finding them is a bit harder.
