It looks to be a variation of the Soviet GP-7 possibly a Ukranian or East German version they were only made between 88 an 92 so that filter is very very expired and they are not designed to be reused or opened and resealed so that thing's got a lot of nasty stuff going into his lungs, also before anyone ask's that tube coming off it is for the canteen that was supplied with the mask originally in NBC situations you still need water but you can't take your mask off to drink.

Gaskmasks like that are stupidly common on the second hand market, during the cold war what the Soviets didn't give away to the 3rd world they put into storage and then sold it off at the end of the cold war in bulk, it's why you still find ton's of cheap unissued kit from WW2era and later production on ebay and in army surplus shops.

Well for one Asbestos, but there is a lot of other stuff that makes up the composition of those filters that varys on when and where they where made and the intended use etc, for example, some of them have silica in them that when bonded to other chemicals stays put but as it deteriorates with age turns into nasty airborne particulates.

Yep they are, Asbestos is still heavily used around the world and the disclaimer like on a lot of things is "Not intended for actual use", Put it this way Around Christmas I installed a new cooker in my warehouse and to comply with H&S regulations I installed a fire blanket box and extinguisher (an also because I'm not a dick) when I unboxed it the materials data sheet had a small warning in it "Contains asbestos, Single use only".

I disagree. They even have the same symbols at the top. The nose grill only looks different because of the shit quality of Phils photo and the angle hes holding the mask.
