Now we just need YouCaring and GoFundMe to follow, and the salt storm would sterilize every field on Earth.

It’s like these people have never been in a store that has a $5/10/15 minimum for credit card purchases.

Woah there, sunshine. People lose their jobs/income every day. Yknow what they do? They go and find a new source of income.

I get that this is a worry for a lot of people and I sympathize with that but the sense of entitlement (similar to the one displayed during the adpocalypse on youtube) is quite something. They managed to get free money for doing their hobby, or reeeing on twitter all day long or yelling their mundane opinions into their iphone on youtube for months or even years and they're sooo amazed that this wasn't going to last forever?

The posts and that are getting quite grating now. Thing is, this is certainly affecting me a little as someone who does Patreon on both sides (not as much as some it seems), and I've had my shit to say in public (mainly 'cause the e-mail they sent was the most ridiculous fake garbage - I think the reaction would be a lot less if they'd just be honest instead of saying "We're doing this for you guys!!!")...they've not done a bad job of explaining the reasoning behind it since then and it's probably not going away so, y'know...just got to make do and put more shifts in on the service. But then some do like to complain until the end of time instead of working it out.

I'd bet a lot of these multiple donating people are the circle jerk cucks who previously didn't pay fees when using their Patreon balance to do this semi-fraudulent donation inflation shit. Those will just stop doing it. I think we're going to learn how much our lolcows are actually earning soon.
Not nearly as much by proportion. Millions of people participate on Patreon.

Overall, people are going to have to prioritize their donations, and people with budgets and cares are going to decide who they actually want to support. Longterm, some gibsmedats and creators are going to see a boon as donations get concentrated, while people like say, Spoony, are going to vanish in a poof of fucks to give.

It's never surprising when SJWs reveal themselves to be materialistic, penny-pinching niggards.

Throwing around communist invective is harmless fun and all, but when you get between an SJW and his ability to budget in Pokemon Ultra Fire Sun Ruby Turbo Edition, shit gets real.
I just want to take the time to applaud your use of the word "niggards" it isn't used nearly enough in regular conversation.

As long as this doesn't make Life of Boris ragequit, I'm good. As for Bob, what's the Patreon equivalent of "jerbs?" "Puhdrun?"

Your usually fine-tuned salt radar is off on this one. This has to do with 1-2 weeks-old drama, apparently Jordan's political opponents were calling attention to his Patreon and what he's doing with it as a negative thing. So he made a Twitter poll on whether he should let his Patreon total (Over $20,000 the last time I saw it) be public or not.

If you watch the video, you'll see that he doesn't mention the new donation charges. And he probably would not be affected with it, given that he is a tenured professor.

Expecting some kind of capitulation from Patreon soon. You can’t tap the whiniest segment of the population then ignore them.

I guess it kinda sucks that patrons have to pay more, but content creators are taking more money home at the end of the day. So even if they lose a bunch of piddly $1 donations, they're still making more money.

Between this, Zelda's new DLC coming out, and the announcement of Bayo 3, I'm getting the feeling Christmas came early.

All of us are blessed.

It is not surprising that they are changing how small donations are processed. Many small businesses have signs that say no credit card purchases under X$ because the cost to process the transaction is greater then the margins of the goods sold.

I am still surprised that Stripe (company that processes online credit card transaction) has not come down harder on Patreon for funding porn and no value added schemes. But in the end this all comes down to the fact that if you are dumb enough to put all you eggs in one basket then dont be surprised when you trip and end up hungry.

Wait, isn't this a regular thing? When I go to a family run store im expected to pay a transaction charge, because said independent owner doesn't have the margin to pay for everyone's transaction.

But ive come up with a solution. The kinda solution that gets you a ten dollar minimum donation even with charges.

Get a list of who you donate to. Using quality, quantity, determination and willingness to improve, list them from most to least deserving.

Pick 2 from the top and keep donating. For every 2 you pick, remove one from the bottom and stop donating. Rinse and repeat until you've finished.

What does that mean? It means the hard working patreons get more of what their work is worth, and the people who don't pull their weight get less.

"But what if I only have one donation Mr kettle?". Well if you're not in a position to pay an extra 40 cents to show the patreon their works worth, you shouldn't be donating at all. It's clear you don't have the kind of money to throw about.

"But what about the people I feel bad for that won't get my money anymore?". Tell them to use a fucking charity site if you want to treat them like charity. Patreon is not a charity website despite what the low effort troons make you think.

This gives creators more of a drive to create quality content, not the type of shovelware shite you see on steam constantly.

And if all that sounds familiar, that's because that's how the fucking world works.

It depends on the composition of the patrons for each of them. Some patreons are almost relying on that tier. Others are less so because their patrons are more concentrated in the higher tier.

Of all the shrieking voices, I'd say that Moviebob was probably in that 1st category, considering how he regularly & shamelessly shrugs off a lot of his embarrassing problems, like when people point out that he's living in his family's basement for example.

I can't believe patreon is LITERALLY KILLING ratkings guys absolutely horrific that they would do such a thing. How dare they add 0.30 cents when people donate a dollar. I weep for all the millions of content creators will literally starve in america these next weeks thanks to this catastrophic choice made by the evil patreon corporation.

No, but seriously, it's funny seeing the true colors of people with this change. And all this over some pocket change. I think what some people here have said is true, that some of these people don't look at it as a way to live but more like a point of pride, similar to how people don't like losing subscribers on YouTube these people don't like losing patrons. Also interesting to see that people both to the left and the right of politics are upset over this. If there is one thing that gets people to unite, it's money.

Merry Christmas indeed.

The timing of this could NOT have been better.
