:) Either way, it sounds like you might be a bad fit for this game, or you need to learn how to regulate your emotions.

I'm kinda finding my footing with this game because I'm going in blind. It's much different than Diablo 2 in how it handles mechanics and skills, so I'm just trying to finagle around and find something that sticks. It's gotten better now that I've nailed down my build (Marauder Two Hander) and now that I'm nailing down the dodge roll mechanic, but I just wasn't digging that capstone fight in Act 1.

Going melee is tough in poe2. You will always struggle more with melee builds, especially early on. If there is one thing I really want them to balance, it's melee.

Anyways glad you are finding your groove.

You came from diablo, have you ever played poe/poe2 before? If not, find a league starter guide man, trust me it's easier to learn and progress that way.
Acts are pretty easy if you know your stuffs, and can be done with subpar builds.
But if make mistakes here and there, it all adds up in endgame (maps), and it can be very expensive to course correct. Learn from those who came before and wrote the guides, ask a lot of questions.

yea but you have no idea from where, its not unavoidable, but its really just fucking luck.
No. You talk out of your ass again.
Once he finishes his poetry he aims for your location at that time.
This is why rolling away after he's finished is what people will always tell you.

But I agree with @An Ordinary Ordinator, the Count Gooner fight is gay. It's frustrating and stupidly one-shotty when you are weak on early playthroughs, and irritating with so many pauses and wait periods when you are twinked.
Hard fucking disagree.
Geonor fight is arguably the best in the entire game.
The music, the poetry, the harsh but fair mechanics, everything is chef's kiss.
Also, I've played every league since 0.1 and I never died to Geonor, even when I didn't understand his mechanics.
He doesn't one shot you, unless you're some mental retard that sits and facetanks his long ass sword moves. And I can only assume those one-shot, because I never actually got hit by one.

I didn't get filtered, I killed him still and I'm currently playing Act 2.

Anyways, I'm slogging through Act 2 and did they hire a tranny to voice this character? He or she sounds exactly like Sena Breyer from Dawntrail.

I hate you pink join dates so much, it's unreal.
This is why you suck and got felted by the first act boss, because instead of focusing on the game, you're too busy divining if some mid boss is voiced by a tranny or not.
FUCKING NIGGER!

Patch notes are out. Hitler (energy shield) gutted with Ghost Dance since now, there's almost no shield recharge mods left on the tree. They gave Rolling Slam a 20% damage nerf and prevented Shield Wall from shotgunning to deal with the meta menace that is Warrior. It might be 1000 years of Ghazzy supremacy.

How much better is the campaign these days vs 0.1? I gave up right before finishing act 1 in 0.1 and haven't played since, but this league (mostly the core game patch tbh) looks pretty cool

It really feels like GGG wants everyone to play Zookeeper this league.

I don't care how good they are, I'm not playing minions.

so after everything has been revealed now, what are your guys' league starters/league plans. This unique mace caught my eyes, looks like molten strike from poe1, so I'm thinking of starting crossbows merc (still haven't decided on the ascendancy) and then rerolling into str stacking with this mace.

edit: I just noticed that Molten Shower has a cooldown, so maybe I have to rethink things *sigh*

My go to (until Shadow trapper or Templar is out) is a Witch(Lich) with a focus on summons, curses and some plant skills. It might sound silly, but with slow potency investment, you can make even bosses move at a crawl. It's not the best at clearing, but it offers survability and it's cheap to gear.
Besides this, I might also try the new Huntress ascendancy, with a focus on pokemons.

I usually get a better understanding of what I want after I see the skill tree, the new gems and the unique wiki is up-to-date.

Probably Thunderstorm Blood Mage (maybe Stormweaver). None of it got nerfed and it's pretty easy to get rolling. Can do mid-Tier maps with virtually no gear, so good for farming currency and waiting to see what looks either the most fun or get enough to roll another pure physical/crit Whirling Assault Titan.

To Anyone who's running the new 0.5 League on the 29th, what class are you planning on starting with? I kinda like the new witch skills but I'm undecided.

It's the best it's ever been, even tho it probably could use a couple more leagues worth of QoL, signpost cues, and slight balance pass/area size reduction to really be on point.
I highly recommend you give it try, only consider it a challenge to be enjoyed rather than a formality like it is for experienced players in PoE 1. The first clear of PoE's 2 campaign is very cool as long as you're not in a 'let's rush to map' mindset. Lots of eye candy and things to discover left and right. Bosses can be a hurdle but it's all the more satisfying when you finally get them.
Note: the final Act of the campaign will only be added in the 1.0 release in maybe 6 months from now, and you want to be closer to level 30 before grabbing your ascendancy, the mechanic for it is garbage Sanctum. Hardest bosses of each act incentivize prioritizing these elemental resistances: A1 cold, A2 lightning, A3 chaos.

Probably start huntress, because it has an OP opener, and do pokimon until I farm enough to make a monk and gemling.

Monk might be faster once it gets going though...I want to try and stay on the front of the market.

For the upcoming PoE2 league what chat channel are you going to hang out in? I usually do whatever global I get assigned, but if there's a named one I'm interested.

I want to level with Arc because chain lightning is always my favorite arpg caster archetype. How good is it in poe2 for leveling? It doesn't have to be meta, but I also don't want to waste my time trying to use a skill that ends up being insanely slow or annoying to build for.

My first poe character was an arc totem templar (during Legion I think) and I have fond memories of it, though I have played very casually on and off since.
