Finally another dream team fan. I really like the promotional for that game. The only thing that maybe was annoying was the ultibed quest but that is a topic for another day. Anyway, this remake looks pretty good so far. I remember having a friend who had a copy of the gamecube original and I always wanted to play but we didn't have any gamecube controllers to play it.
 
TTYD was my childhood game, and it's finally time they release an actual Paper Mario game.

It might be an unpopular opinion, but Color Splash's gameplay should have adhered more to the playing card theme (similarly to Magic the Gathering, Pokemon TCG, etc.). Deck building being the analogue for badges, EXP giving you more HP or cards slots, cards that gives you partners, item cards, the list goes on.

While the change from "airhead" to "lunkhead" is quite odd, I consider it on par with airhead, and tbh, might even be more "harsh" than airhead.
Lunkhead makes it sound like you've got a fatass of a head while airhead just makes it sound like you're silly and incompetent (Which I know is the point in the original NA CG version, but lunkhead sounds more insulting is what I'm getting at).

I’m impressed, you made Color Splash sound like it wasn’t doomed from the start. If they had done that + a good story and original characters, it might have actually been a good game.

i was just about to replay the game on my steam deck but i think I'll wait and play it on switch after the reviews come out.

i quite liked the GC game but the updated visuals aren't my fav, the characters look more like mutiple 2d shapes then beings made of paper.
also the lighting just feels off, the old game felt like a worn childs colored fairytale book, not too bright but still quite colorful. this game however is so bright it puts King Neptune's bald spot to shame.

some of the less family friendly parts not doubt will be removed in non-japanese versions and some language will be changed but someone is gonna make a mod that reverts this.

however the vivan thing will be quite interesting since its quite possible that copeium consumption among the troons will be an all time high. (i will have microwave popcorn on hand for the inevitable shit throwing)

although i did find some interesting information while doing some basic fact checking, i haven't been able to desern what vivan is.
ive got some japanese players saying its japan's equivent of a crossdresser on one hand and troons saying shes got an axe wound in the other.
i would play the japanese version myself and see what it actually says but i dont fucking understand asian skyrim moon runes and i have the feeling google translate will follow the rainbow so to speak.

will probably still buy it though.

The Japanese text (and most localizations) have other characters calling him a guy, while he refers to himself as a girl, and he calls the group the "Shadow Sisters." Super Paper Mario uses the term "otokonoko." He's a trap, basically.

Then if it does well, then at least they'll be going back to the first two games, and not continue on the shitty path that Sticker Star laid out (at least I hope that's what's going to happen).

Depends how motivated and dedicated you are to learn a foreign language from complete scratch, and how good you are at memorizing scribbles, but better late than never as I would say personally. Since TTYD remake (aka Paper Mario RPG in Japan) is not coming out until like mid-2024, that should give you enough time to cover and master the basics at the very least, but reaching a proficiency level where you truly feel at ease will take much more time (about a couple of years). So do not try to rush things at the risk of being overwhelmed and burned out.

Feel free to look up the djtguide for learning resources in any case.

Slap me with a RLM meme because I'm gonna CONSOOM this remake. TTYD was my favorite game from my childhood, I played through it when it first came out in 2004 and then played through it again every other summer until I graduated high school. I still have the disk somewhere, it's been over a decade since I last opened the box but I bet that disk is scuffed to shit from how much I played that game.

That said, if Nintendo somehow shoehorns in the stupid card system from Sticker Star I'm gonna be Chernobyl meltdown levels of mad. Leave the turn-based combat alone Miyamoto, it's perfectly fine the way it is!
 
As someone that for years wanted to get the original TTYD for GameCube on eBay but the prices for this were expensive, this makes me laugh out loud while also leaving me scratching my head.

I no doubt know scalpers will be raising the price for the original GC game more than ever before, even while knowing that I can get the Dolphin Emulator and download the ROM for it.

Sorry. I didn't mean to ruin anybody's anticipation of the game or anything. For what it's worth, I really enjoyed the game and have high hopes for the remake. From what I've seen, it looks solid visually, and I think any gameplay changes will likely be minor and for the better.
