We Pay, No Gay, as the old saying goes.
I've been thinking about trying out runescape for years, and each time decided otherwise specifically because of all the faggotry I've been hearing about.
I took this as the occasion to actually install it and give it a try.
First thing you see when you leave the tutorial island: Gay nigger flag.

Is there a system through which to 'report' it for being obscene/appalling/disgusting?

The problem here is that you chose to play Runescape 3 rather than Old School Runescape
Runescape 3 was the fucking sacrificial lamb that OSRS players had to protect them from the vast majority of troonshit, like faggot rainbow wings, or the tranny blahaj, or any other number of utterly horrifying things.
Runescape 3 has a quest where a they/them helps you solve a murder mystery where you are provided everyone's pronouns so you don't misgender anyone.

Pcgamer has made another article relating to RuneScape Pride stuff. They make it sound like the community is against the CEO for shutting down the pride, but I honestly don't know how big that demographic is with RuneScape fanbase.
I'm going to guess the author went by Reddit metrics, even though social media engagement does not always produce hard numbers. So I'm going to look at one of the few hard numbers we do have for direct game engagement; the Steamdb numbers for player counts. I'll be using June 13th as my date of reference as it should be within the time frame the article was published, and so it should have manifested in player counts by now.

20252024202320222021
1,0711,0681,2971,4371,583

And then we have here the full chart. With what I saw from zooming around here and there popular and unpopular game updates had more to do with dips and spikes than anything culture war related. I didn't notice a sizeable difference around the pronouns released last year and I'm also not seeing any noticeable spikes for any year in June, which is chief virtue signaling month.

OSRS is a slow bleed but this looks more like a hemorrhage. I've never played this version so I know less about its updates, but it would seem June also has no real bearing on player counts.

My Conclusion:
The same as the CEO's. Development time would be better spent on new content and QoL than on pandering to the terminally online screeching on Reddit that they can't groom without their special rainbow boots.

I am fully aware of that, but I deliberately chose to go with Runescape 3 anyway. One reason is because I wanted to try out all the content, not just the og era content that I am not nostalgic for. The other reason I can't elaborate due to the site's rules against cow-tipping and calls to action.

OSRS has almost as much "new" content as RS3 does at this point, including a fuckoff massive huge continent that RS3 doesn't have at all.
It's evolved far from the snapshot of 2007scape it once was.
But you do you.

Jagex will never run a poll for pride shit because they know it's unpopular. Not only that, but the results would break the illusion the redditors have that pride shit in-game is actually totally popular guys.
Imo running a poll right now would be the perfect time for the CEO to justify his statements about scaling back pride that pissed off all the troons because when it fails he can say he's better in touch with the majority of the playerbase and the poll results confirmed it. The people who never liked this shit have always been the majority. The tide is only turning now because the overall political climate finally hit a critical mass of tranny fatigue and the formerly silent majority now feels comfortable enough to speak out without facing severe, disproportionate retribution.
I hope so. I might start playing again if he sticks to his guns, and especially if he gets rid of the body type A/B bullshit. So far that's been a red line for me just because it's so insane and malicious - haven't played a single game that has that in it.

I think the problem is you're playing in pride month so you saw that NPC. Burthorpe is the dumping ground for NPCs and set pieces related to a given holiday or event since it's the "new" lumbridge/tutorial area. That guy is there for the gay tales of pride task where you walk around and find readable notes about the various LGBTBBQ characters. Your reward is that gay nigger banner.

Edit: I just remembered since I did it to see how bad the writing was/if they threw you an XP lamp or something, it's mostly like diary entries. From memory there's one for two gay werewolves about a date they had, a lesbian couple I can't remember much about, Zanik talking about how she's bisexual. it's a long held belief that since she shows at least a liking to the player, she's hence bisexual. an asexual/aromantic dragonkin not understanding courtship, an admittedly kinda touching old letter from Armadyl's dead husband; I have to admit he's probably the "best" LGBT character because he's written like any "good" normie media gay character where it's just a thing about him, it's not shoved in your face.

And then we get to Anghof, the tranny elf. Instead of any retelling of his marriage or how he felt before and after turning into a woman with godly crystal magic, it's instead a list of names he was picking for himself. They couldn't be bothered to make an actual little 6 paragraph story from his PoV, it was just like 5 names.

Yeah no, that PC GAYMER is really fucking fake and gay, the amount of Reddit posts have died down massively, and actual members of the subreddit constantly retaliate against the tourists.
All "Integrity" changes must be destroyed and reverted.
Yes, that includes the black d'hide nerf.
Completely ignores the integrity change for BP, we need it to be BIS everywhere again!!

I don’t play very much any more but the (relative) lack of gay shit this year has been a breath of fresh air and very moralizing tbh. The whole point of OSRS was to preserve the game as it existed in a much simpler time. Let me cut my trees in peace, faggots!

It would seem the review bombing only started on the 10th, and I haven't been able to find a negative review from the last few days that doesn't mention the pride cutbacks so I think its safe to assume the recent negative ones are all in response to that.

June 10: 2 Negative Reviews
June 11: 15 Negative Reviews
June 12: 27 Negative Reviews
June 13: 25 Negative Reviews
June 14: 2 Negative reviews
Current total: 71

You see that big spike downward from the beginning of the year though? That's from when the story broke about Jagex's controversial survey questions. Here's the numbers for that entire month so we have an idea of what actual controversy would look like.

Jan 2025 Negative Review Count: 903
Its also worth mentioning that while Feb also got some bleed-over negative reviews they did shift more to actual gameplay gripes.

832 additional negative reviews would be required by the end of the month in order to come close to something that actually received mass community backlash.

Its also worth noting that many of the recent positive reviews directly mention pride as well.

Please write an (HIV) positive review for the game on steam.
I've done my part.
Seething trannies are so funny.
The best part is that somebody in the Jagex exec suite probably realized that they could probably start to market their game to children again if they actively started to remove child predator glorification from the game.
God knows little timmy doesn't need to be told that he's actually an "egg" by some balding hideous goblin creature when he just wants to kill cows in lumby.
