Jagex announced their new Runescape spin-off game, Dragonwilds.

I'd need to see more gameplay but the world doesn't look too bad. There's plenty of variety in the game's locations and the art direction is pretty close to what I'm used to in my time with Runescape 3.

It's hard to justify giving any more of my money to Fagex at this point in time though.

We've seen how Fagex has treated their other spin-off projects, so i'm not exactly optimistic about this one. They're gonna pour a ton of resources and manpower into it and then abandon it two weeks after release. This is my prediction.

Hate that shit "League of Legends but RTX is On" art style.

Yeah, I can see that happening. I doubt the game would even garner the same type of cult following that allowed Arcanists to persist after Funorb shut down.

Completed my Vennybow on the iron today, 539kc, got super spooned on the first 4 shards and just a little over rate for the 5th IMG_0271.png

Anyone want to complete the royal titans speed runner CA with me? Its only hard tier, my PB solo is 1:58 without anything try hard and the time to beat is 1:30 duo so it should be easy. And I have a fire giant task. I really don't want to try it with randoms. It's the last task I need to re-complete hard tier.

Completed the Tormented Demons at 1377kc

I’ve assumed that they’ll all have some use for Yama so I decided to finally finish these now that I figured the staff will have more use.

Funny thing about this trip I decided to bring all 3 swaps this time to keep meleeing as much as possible, got rewarded a burning claw about halfway through the trip and then later on my first one cycle kill (the demon didn’t get to swap styles at all) I got the last synapse I needed!

I've realised something: It's the multiple days of grinding XP in the late game for a single level that makes it almost impossible to enjoy the early game again, because by then you have experienced first hand that the conclusion of such gameplay with its logarithmic scaling and solo training meta is that it eventually becomes more akin to a job you perform in isolation as opposed to an MMORPG. You no longer look forward to the next type of fish, instead you prepare yourself for another 4 hour shift at Catherby. Runescape players will proudly talk about how they have optimised their playstyle to minimise interaction with the game so they can watch Netflix more easily.

You are no longer playing a game.

Possibly controversial opinion: They should have incentivised co-operation, "group skilling" and some form of prestige/reset system early, so that all your elite level 1000+ hour players aren't just afk drones polishing up those last few 99s as they catch up on Always Sunny or whatever.

… so are we ignoring the group skilling that already exists or what? Want to group mine? Zalcano. Fish? Tempo. Firemaking? Wintertodt. Thieving? Ardy knights/sqrrkin* (depending if it’s relevant). Woodcutting? Forestry.

All skills in the game have so many options for training but they all come with their trade offs, I’d rather AFK cut redwoods at a much lower xp/hr than have to actively play Forestry, I’d rather do ardy knights because the fail/dying rate is way low. I could do vyres
for a drop in xp but a possible pay out of 2x blood shards, but their fail rate is also really high and requires a lot of paying attention to keep shadow veil/dodgy necklaces upkeeped all the time.

Here’s a real hot take, but if you play purely to skill or not do every quest in the game or play some stupid pure account, you’re playing it wrong, you should do every quest and be doing PVM (and whatever minigame tickles your fancy) content until the day you finally get bored and quit for a few months till the itch comes back. Getting max cape isn’t that big of a need it’s just a big QOL of having all your 99 capes in 1 (realistically you just need a Con cape to have the POH tp)

If people want to prestige just make an iron at that point

At that point just bot the shit skills you don't want to deal with, most of the player base already does

PS Yama is fun and good content, no drops besides upgraded death charge so far
Yama unfortunately falls short of what I hoped for when they promised an "endgame duo boss", but it's still a good piece of content on its own merits. Been fun to pot with the boys but I really hope we get some real endgame content soon. Horn and surge pots have been fun to mess around with.

I do concur that he does seem a lot easier than some what I expected as well, i do expect it to be bot farmed easily, the mechanics aren’t that tough.

Also loot has been obtained on the (mobile) iron now IMG_0365.webp

Grinding out the graceful set is the most cancer thing I've ever done in a video game. Second is that lightning mini game in FFX but this was worse. It made me not want to play the game anymore. But now that I'm typing this kinda want to log in. Fuck.

From what little bossing I've done it was really fun
