Time to start mining spoilers for the week. But so help me, if this weeks Cliffhanger is Yamato mouthing to Kaido and making no progress, I’m gonna spam Oda’s personal FB with “STREUSEN IS PEROSPERO’S FATHER.”
 
Very interesting developments in the Spoilers regarding Who’s Who of the Flying 6.

Apparently, Who’s Who was the person that Shanks stole the Rubber Rubber fruit from.

And he was CP9 once.

Do we have a list or something of the animals she’s used it on? I am curious.
 
Even I couldn’t believe this reveal. 1015 Chapters later, are we learning about how Gomu Gomu was acquired.

I wonder if Cipher Pol’s desire to have it back then May have a connection to the frozen giant Straw Hat sculpture at Marie Jois

Damn, honestly completely forgot that Shanks' crew actually swiped the Gum-Gum Fruit from a ship--the Viz manga says enemy ship, though, so it was super-duper vague.

Fucking hell, no wonder Luffy's been on everyone's radar.

Well, His dad being dragon getting outed in the war of the best is a pretty good reason for it to.

His grandfather being Garp and managing to take out Crocodile while still a rookie helps too. Oh and very openly having a D initial.

Honestly, I hope the next chapter reveals the government wanted it for a silly reason. The last thing I want is for the Gum Gum Fruit to have any importance that actually matters.

I mean, Shanks and his crew stole it and held on to it for a reason. If the Gum-Gum Fruit wasn't important in any way, shape, or form, they wouldn't have freaked out when Luffy ate it.

It's a devil fruit. While where we are now the rarity of such things is much less at the start of the series it was rather different.

Because it’s a magical fruit that gives powers that probably fetches a pretty penny. Outside the Grand Line they are rare.

It permanantly altered Luffy’s body and made water basically a death sentance for him.

I’d be pretty worried about the child.

Someone eating millions would be terrible also.

But seriously, that's a pretty cool revelation there. Either Who's-Who had a huge misconception about who his "Sun God" was which got Jinbe flared up, or Jinbe indeed knows something and has to really protect his crew and captain at all costs.

Their fight was super cool, though. It's gonna look amazing animated.
 
I presume the Sun god who was freeing slaves was Fisher Tiger, he did have the giant sun crest on his chest after all.
