It ran into the exact same issues weekly that Dressrosa did for pretty much the exact same reasons. The immediate gratification readers need to, however, keep in mind that the series will exist in its finished state a hell of a lot longer than it does weekly.
this is why i like to let myself get behind on the anime. because if you watch like 4 or so episodes in a row it usually feels like you accomplished way more than watching as they come out. wano feels slow because there were multiple stories going on at the same time but looking it over its not nearly as slow as it felt originally watching or reading.

I'm unironically convinced that that's going to be how the Straw Hats fight Shanks.
I would love that, though I am still mostly convinced that the final "battle" is going to be a Free-for all between a Growing amount of Factions.

Strawhat Grand Fleet
Red Hair Fleet
World Government
Cross Guild
Black Beard Pirates.

Interesting, though I suspect the next major arc (presumably Elbaf) will reduce it to at most 4. Either because they're beaten or folded into the Straw Hats.
Either Shanks's or Blackbeard's crew would be my estimation.

I'm ok with it because the person playing Corby, and the show isn't pushing any trans ideology.

Never read the manga or watched the anime butvI really liked the live action.
I think, with spoilers for you since you've not seen the original stuff, that season 2 will have the real test for how much they want to go trans ideology stuff because of Bon Clay, a character who plays a role in a lot of some upcoming arcs and subsequent ones. While their identity was less relevant that them being an interesting character Net Piece might change that a lot.

Half related I was rereading some stuff and saw an image I wish I had forgotten (bottom left panel)

That's the most horrifying cucumber in existence.

I mean I agree Wano was not even 10% as good as the years long hype that was built up. But 100000% disagree and it’s a huge fucking “your opinion” that the story has declined. I’ve been enjoying the fuck out of most everything since Luffy beat Kaido. Genuinely love Egghead and all the stuff that’s been building up around it. Also I’d love to see your stats for declining sales especially recently, because if it’s not actual information that’s from a trustworthy source and it’s just another gay twitter post I don’t believe you.

Edit: Also it’s really not the big own you think it is using anyone whose worked on Dragonball as a weapon against Odas writing bud.
Timeskips tend to be the kiss of death for manga. And honestly, I've been down on One Piece since the timeskip except for a few moments (Vergo, some Doflamingo highlights). But since fucking Wano ended it's been a banger for a while now.
I agree Wano's pacing was absolutely odd, but that might've been due to the schedule and that the arc took years to come to its climax. It's possible that Oda may have rushed it, or that he was asked to add things that slowed it down, which would explain why the anime did what it does best.

I wasn't here for when Skypeia was in the works, I just know that it was a hated arc for a long time because of how slow and filler-ish it felt in real time. Wano was clearly not filler in nature (despite how much of a difference there is between Wano and Onigashima itself), however, I can't deny it felt slow at times. I think it'll flow a lot better on re-read, and that it doesn't take away from the rules of the world, some fans might've confirmed this.

In terms of ranking favorite arcs, I don't know if it'll personally be in my top five favs once all's said in done, but for sure it has one of my favorite One Piece moments. The wait was absolutely worth it.
I started reading the manga and got up to date with the train taking Robin while Sanji and Ussop infiltrated it and since then have been a weekly reader. The timeskip was really a step down and only recently has it been consistently hype.

God, peak OP comedy, this was hillarious.

Well my Initial guess was going to be 3 Groups

Lawful Evil - Imu and the World Government
Chaotic evil - Blackbeard and The Evil Pirates
and the Good people headed up by Luffy.

The Cross Guild and Buggy Splitting the "Evil" Pirates into "Blackbeard and whatever the Will of Xebec is" and "Generic Chaotic Evil Pirates" Makes sense to me.

Shanks is up in the air to me but I can see him being his own faction now that they have established that he has gathered his own set of "weaklings" as an army. I can see him going after Laugh Tale independently of Luffy, but not being an outright antagonist to Luffy.

Tbh I expect the Final Race for The One Piece to be a fucking Clusterfuck of Epic Proportions because you have a growing list of Powers that are emerging..all of which will end up heading for Loadstar Island like Dominos the moment that it leaks that SOMEONE has all Info from the 4 Red Poneglyphs and is heading for Loadstar.

For the Record I am mostly including the Revolutionaries with Luffy, if Dragon were going to be an evil force I would imagine we would know by this point in the series.

Oda straight up told us this through Dofflamingo and Law

It's been two years since the Paramount War!!! And who exactly has been moving events? You've done nothing more than maintain peace and tranquility. Whitebeard only left his mark on our times. Navy Headquarters has bolstered itself with new strength!!! None of the other big players have acted... as though they've only been preparing!! That war was nothing more than a prologue. Like you've always said, a new age is coming with unmatched power... An age of the daring and mighty!!! Well, now I've destroyed the gears!! And no one can turn back!!!
That was Law to Dofflamingo during Punk Hazard.

And when he was imprisoned Dofflamingo confirmed it.

"Who rules this stretch of Ocean? Is it One of the 4 Emperors of the Sea? Or perhaps it is The Seven Warlords, But then there are the Forces of Justice..the Navy reigns supreme, and the Revolutionaries The Will of the people is stocked with several strong fighters, and the people of the D who have smoldered beneath the currents of history..when will they show themselves and where?

Tell the Celestial Dragons in Marijoa that "you will be Dragged from your Lofty Perch" 25 Years ago Gol Roger became the first man to conquer the Grand Line, His Rival Whitebeard sat before the Throne but never upon it, the number of pirates have swelled but there is still only one SEAT sitting empty..do you see where I am going with this? This is going to kick off the greatest battle for power in the history of Piratekind"

The One who ends up in control of Laugh Tale will end up ruling the world. (Minus Luffy because he will be like "FUCK THAT SHIT VIVI YOU BE QUEEN OF THE WORLD! SABO MARRY THAT HOE YOU INCEL")

Edit: By the way I think this was all..losely Planned by Gol Roger, he went up on that Scaffold knowing what he would set off with his Final Words.

Just got to Episode 7.

What is this?! The Marines are not one dimensional stand ins for Fascism, the Patriarchy and Donald Trump? How did Netflix greenlight this?

It would be neat to see the Whitebeard Pirates return to help whatever group fights Blackbeard's pirates, and just straight up say "you faggots cheated against us, we'll cheat against you." 3v1, 4v1, fuck them all up.

Anyway, the anime got a new OP that I wonder will go beyond the end of Wano, maybe into a small filler arc, and they went back to adding an ED. Both are way better than the last OP (#24, "Paint"), which I thought was the weakest OP to date, even beyond the kpop We Are from Thriller Bark.

That has to be the softest song/OP since "HANDS UP", it's just so chill.

which I thought was the weakest OP to date, even beyond the kpop We Are from Thriller Bark.
I warmed up to the 10th anniversary "We Are", but maybe it's because the visuals helped.

They could have left off those till after tonight's episode, fucking spoiling Momo's grown up form.

I must be one of those rare fans who wasn’t so negative on the time skip. I’ve been reading the manga since about mid Davy Back/Start of Water Seven and the only arc from the time skip that made me feel negative was Fishman Island. Such a boring arc, made even worse in the anime. I loved Dressrosa and Whole Cake and Zou was fine enough.

Lol should I remind you about opening 3 Hikari e, which showed that Robin was joining the crew 14 episodes before she actually did. The Japanese dont care about spoilers in openings because they are all reading the manga anyway. Anime only is very much a thing losers in the west do lol.

So I watched the first episode with my dad today. As something to justify ranting to my family about a series I've been reading for two decades at this point, it worked pretty well. As something that I would sit down and watch for myself, I would definitely pass. I probably won't bother with season 2 if what's-her-face actually gets to play Kureha.
