No. Likely just the same thing that always happened. Completely tapped until he gets up 10 minutes later.

And, as we see with Wano, Luffy quite literally can’t die.

I think it's more like this: Luffy during Wano was running on near death experience adrenaline while fighting in Gear Fifth. Now that Wano is over, Luffy is just using Gear Fifth in fights without all that extra adrenaline. He likely isn't used to the awakening of his Devil Fruit and it's just eating at his stamina when he does use it. He'll likely improve and it'll take less out of him in time but for now, it seems like it's a power with a very costly upkeep.

Pretty anticlimactic if Bonney managed to one shot St. Jay Garcia Saturn

But it is looking as though the new DF power hierarchy is Awakened Mythical Zoan<Awakened Zoan<Awakened Paramecia<Logia
Which is pretty neat considering how op Logia’s felt for a while and how genuinely weak and insignificant paramecia felt besides a a few here and there.

100% I wouldn’t be shocked if Gear 5 becomes the standard form at some point. Like how Goku just goes straight to Blue Saiyan these days.

Oh sure. That’s what I was saying.

I brought up Wano because Luffy straight up got hit with a killing blow, died and then came back to life due to the Fruit. Luffy can no longer die.

While there are Paramaecia which presumably are exceptions to this (Hi BlackWhitebeard) I think the intent was that Logias came with the biggest initial power boost and were the most dangerous to less experienced combatants, mostly because of the intangibility against anything but their weaknesses. It let Oda introduce enemies who, while not as capable in out and out combat as others, by dint of their devil fruits letting them ignore anything that was not sea stone or their vulnerability could be ludicrously dangerous while still being possible to overcome by actually landing punches.

Then pretty much everyone had armament haki at which point they were as vulnerable as anyone else, debatably more so because they'd been relying on their fruits. Logias get the early part of their pirate journey on easy mode but when they cross the point where it's "everyone is haki fighting now" it's less fun. They're still powerful because of their assorted abilities but one that a lot of them likely relied on suddenly only works on the mooks.

I've wondered if awakened logia is what Imu is, where the human part of them largely disappears leaving something that's instead what they seem to be. However given our look at one of the 5 Elders it seems more likely to be something like that. Notably Blackbeard's fruit is a Logia which suggests they might be back in style soon.

His last name is Garcia. Not very Jewish
That's what (((they))) want you to believe. Names have a thematic importance in the series. Given there were plenty of families who dropped the "D" from their names and that Noland's family and descendants were so ashamed that they changed their names/tried to end the bloodline, who's not to say that to hide a particular ethnic group from further scrutiny, the surnames were all changed? You can change your name, but you can't change your (((destiny))).

Re: St. Jay Garcia Saturn,

Apparently, he is one of these things:

Ushi-oni have brutal, savage personalites. Their appearance varies, mainly based on geographical location. They usually have an ox's head with sharp upward-curving horns, wicked fangs and a slender tongue, They spit poison and enjoy killing and eating humans. Their body is most commonly depicted as spider-like with six legs and long singular claws at the end of each appendage.[2][3]

In other descriptions, they have the head of an ox and an oni's torso. Certain legends claim that they appear in front of temple gates in the mountains wearing human clothing, or flying with the wings of an insect. Other ushi-oni have a reverse appearance, with an oni's head and an ox's body.[1]

They are said to appears in beaches, in mountains, in forests, in rivers, in swamps, and in lakes. They often appear in stream pools, and in the Kinki region and Shikoku among other places, there are many places names such as "ushi-oni fuchi" (ushi-oni stream pool) or "ushi-oni taki" (ushi-oni waterfall).

In yōkai emaki of the Edo Period such as the Hyakkai Zukan, they are most often shown with the bovine head and a spider torso. In the Hyakki Yagyō Emaki, a similar picture goes under the title of Tsuchigumo.

Just caught episodes 3 and 4 of the netflix show, the syrup village/kuro pirates arc. Very strange that they omit jango, I'm entirely unclear on what kuro's plan was without him, or how he pulled off the morgan affair in the backstory. Turning the skinny and fat cat pirate brothers into a bluehair chick and a fat britoid chef also somewhat odd. Couldn't watch the scenes where luffy's eating poison without cracking up thinking of this image

Still not fond of the decision to move all this garp stuff up so early, why introduce going merry with this preemptive homage to thousand sunny when you haven't even bothered introducing jango or the usopp's pirates kids? just does not make sense.

I have a feeling if you went over the thing with a fine tooth comb most of the issues with the live action would be a Netflix choice.
Likely. Netflix does not have seasons of time to waste on setting things up, especially those that probably should have from a story and lore reasoning should have been setup way earlier.

Like Garp.

Which of course means some things are going to feel very odd if they end up cutting stuff like Jango and not really filling that gap.

Why was Garp needed earlier?

He wasn't say on either of his grandchildren all the time, which fits with the fact that a Marine of his rank likely can't just disappear at the drop of a hat. He has other jobs like, as we saw in source material and live action, taking down corrupt Marines. For him to break from that to go following an utterly unmentionable crew around rather than leaving Luffy be would just attract attention to him.

Even when Luffy started making news much like with Ace he stayed hands off. He only finally showed up when Luffy decided to go to Enies Lobby and really piss off the government which worked time-wise.

Why was Garp needed earlier?
Because his entire issue with his grandchildren is je tried to stop them but they did anyway. But he isn’t actually shown trying to stop them when they become pirates and start doing dangerous things. This culminates in him moaning at Ace that he tried to do everything but we don’t ever see him put in a token effort in the series. Then their is Koby who we never see grow. So seeing that is nice.

Story says literally otherwise. Because Garp does not care for the rules per se.

You are right. And that would have probably been a better thing to do actually. Show them taking down other pirates in the background with Garp knowing Luffy et al will end up at Arlong Park and have them cross paths their.

His trying to stop them was at best half hearted. In story it seemed he wanted to keep them mostly safe until they were old enough to make their own decisions in life. which ties in with your below mentioned point of Garp believing in a degree of personal freedom. Agreed on the Ace front though.
We did get to see Koby grow, hell even Helmeppo got development by being used as a hostage by his deadbeat dad when the guy made his escape. The live action gave us very little different and left more out than it added.

Story does not say literally otherwise. He dumped them on someone else to care for because he did not have the time to. Garp operating by his own rules is not the same as him deciding to just not do his job for a decade and a half. Add to that the fact that him doing that would result in attention being drawn to both of them both from his superiors and his enemies.
You are right. And that would have probably been a better thing to do actually. Show them taking down other pirates in the background with Garp knowing Luffy et al will end up at Arlong Park and have them cross paths their.
Pretty much. I could have coped with that being the tie in point rather than shoving them in on every occasion and making Garp into training wheels for the crew in case they ever got in too deep. Personally I'd have enjoyed them fitting in Morgan's breakout but I don't think timewise it was doable.

@Morethanabitfoolish

In fact, I know how they could have done the Garp thing. Have him pick up the phone and talk to Dragon. Then you get that this high level marine has some vested interest but you don’t know what and them when Enies Lobby happens ‘i heard your saw your dad’ has an ‘oh, that’s what that was’.

As for Ace I always assumed it was ‘well he’s with Whitebeard what could possibly go wrong?’ FUCK! HOW DID EVERYTHING GO WRONG?

per the latest chapter
Another wild card not being touched upon is that ancient mech that wrecked Marijoa 200 years ago that reactivated once Luffy started his fight with Kizaru
