Akainu did nothing wrong and the WG deserve everything that’s coming to them for not Akainuing hard enough.

Seriously all their problems are causd because they try to be diplomatic for the longest time and let obvious issues fester.
the marines are literally just the lap dogs of the global elite that have people killed on a whim and are ordered to stand down when they can save people nothing the world government does is done for good or justice just whatever makes the elite rulers happy

imagine if researching ww2 came with a death sentence instead of just jailtime in most of the world or your life ruined in america

I’m not disagreeing. My point is the WG are having issues because they are not killing peopke hard enough. For being horrible authorterians with nukes whose entire rule relies on people not knowing something they keep being very lenient where it really matters.

It doesn’t come with a death sentence in the OP World though. It came with jailtime until everyone had broken the law and been told to stop multiple times.
Heck, the Roger Pirates knew everything and were allowed to live. Roger only died because he willingly gave himself up.

As said, WG is being way too kind and that’s causing all the problems.

Reign of terrors don't work long term, Imu and the WG had a good thing going till Gol found Laugh Tale, I am presuming that the news of a "hidden" island pushed the Oharan's to dig even deeper than they had been, which lead to the buster call. Once you start nuking entire islands and mass murdering infants I don't think "not going hard enough" is the problem anymore. By that point shit is already starting to spiral out of control.

They were kind of fucked regardless of Ohara given that Roger had already took a giant shit on keeping people away from Laugh Tale 2 years prior, and by the time Roger became a problem he was already too strong to really stop.

I mean not going hard enough is absolutely the problem. As Saul and the books are alive and well. In short, one of their top guys, who later decided to join a pirate crew that wants to take over the world, deciding to spare people caused all of this.

And the Buster Call can’t have been very good. It couldn’t even destroy THE SACRED OHARAN TEXTS.

Naturally the WG it will turn out will have planned for and not be concerned about all of this but a part of me really wants them to fail because they were lazy and too diplomatic for their own good

Because justifiably angry Akainu is best Akainu.

I still don't think it is a "going hard" issue.

The World Government's primary concern seems to be keeping everything as under-wraps as possible, including that there is even something to keep under wraps. Buster Calling(And whatever the fuck Imu did to the Island Sabo is on) is probable to (and did) attract attention. I kind of presume that the SACRED TEXTs are made of some special paper that the WG couldn't have foreseen because quite frankly the fact that those books survived being dumped in the lake is silly, and in any other setting I would probably call bullshit.

but it's One Piece and we just met a guy who removed the top of his head and replaced it with an apple so "Books survive several days in a lake" isn't the most absurd thing in this chapter, much less the series.

If Oda doesn’t reveal that Clover et al somehow managed to make or shrink actual Ponyglyphs I will be a bit irked.

Though in fairness, the books are probably not going to around long. After all then Robin could read them and there would br no need for Laugh Tale.

The books seem like the Impetus to nuke Elbaf honestly. Which would absolutely check off the ‘the world at large needs to realise there is an issue with the WG’

I did find everyone being ‘why would they kill Clover?’ before admitting he was a criminal with a wrap sheet in the double digits very funny although why they didn’t just throw him away in jail forever I don’t know

Re: Why would they kill Clover, he only got a wrap sheet longer than Saint Floyd.

Do remember the timing of this. This shit is happening 2 years after Gol's death so the number of people with growing wrap sheets is probably pretty large.

Saul's alive, Vegapunk's got a weird head thing (a DF effect, maybe?), Dragon was a pacifist, and an Elbaf arc might actually be a thing now.
Looks like he scooped out his own brain and replaced it with an apple core-shaped antenna. Wouldn't be surprised if the giant egg on that island is just a container for his fat ass grey matter.

As for Saul, personally they were better off not revealing he was alive yet (just implied it) until Robin actually got to Elbaf and saw him there. Also why is Saul working with Elbaf giants? I thought he said he wasn't from Elbaf when Robin met him.

You'd think the renaged scholar that seems to be the leader of the smartest people would be the dude you want to jail just in case honestly. Terrible oversight. Imu should fire the Five Elders.I/ISPOILER]

I dislike Saul being alive. I honestly hate it. I think the only thing I might end up hating more is if DF turn out to be science and not magic.

I like the idea of it being a bit of both. The reveal that all the technology Vegapunk utilizes is just him rediscovering tech from the Void Century means that Baby 5's Devil Fruit makes so much more sense, while still suggesting DFs exist as a result of the Void Century.

I was not expecting Vegapunk's head to look like that lol

Two things:
1. The books surviving in the lake isn't new information. The Navy was confused by it all the way back in Chapter 398.
2. It's been a theory for a long time that Saul might not have actually been dead, the key part of it being the attack used to neutralize him: "Ice Time Capsule".

Theory with old Vegapunk's head is that he took out parts of his brain to make the other bodies we saw last chapter. And that the apple in place is a reference to Isaac Newton. It's probably a safe bet that the WG figured out how much he might actually know (or at least think he's too close to figuring it out) and that's why they dispatched CP0 to wipe him out.

Also Saul probably recruited Elbaf giants because not only can they fight back at any shit the WG tries to rain on them, they're not WG-aligned. And is speculated to be the "man with the burn scar" that Kid is searching for.

*hey you guys better stop looking into the past and questioning our power to make your life miserable on a whim or will kill ya for fun, just accept your life in only made to serve us goys

your argument only works if the world government is good and just at its core but its not its evil and only exists to serve the tiny minority in total control and the cost of everyone else they will literally enslave you at any point for any reason

your argument
Was they are far too linient on the important matters and that screws them up. Which it does. Which makes them really stupid. Which makes them terrible villains. Which is probably why Oda gave them nukes. Because otherwise they are barely s threat. They had to lock up Clover loads or times and then gave him to a chance to back out. If it cane with a death sentence or ruin, Clover and so many others would not have been given a billion chances. Clearly the death sentance or miserableness only comes after repeated disregard. And this makes Elders/Imu seem real lame.

Which it is. probably. Otherwise Dragon would want to get rid of it as well as it’s leaders. He specifically says does not want to get rid if the Goverment Structure as a whole. But again, that had no baring on my argument.

Calling it now, no parts of his brain are even in those other bodies and they're all just connected to it wirelessly. I'm more curious about whether or not these other Vegapunk bodies are just androids, clones or something else entirely.

Maybe the pages in the book were laminated?
