In fact:
- The pedo shit is the only time accurate because a lot of these boys were forced into these exploitation based relationships as early as TEN. Since they weren't men yet, they didn't have rights & some Roman families would exchange their son's autonomy for education, as they were often taught by their abusers.
yep, sodomy for control’s sake, no matter what age… totally not pedophilic homosexuality, nooo, not muh greeks not muh achilles…
i’m blanking on which book since i havent thought about it in five years, but one of the sections in plato’s republic features a couple of the philosophy bros extensively talking about the young boys they were teaching, with one guy *really* talking about how young they were. i’d google it to say which part of the republic it was, but i don’t know how to look that up without getting flagged lmao

Well the workaround there is to keep physical copies of classic literature in your house. My best guess (having skimmed my own copy) is Book V 474 d-e?
“I think you will have to remind me,” he said, [474d] “for I don't apprehend at all.” “That reply, Glaucon,” said I, “befits another rather than you. It does not become a lover to forget that all adolescents in some sort sting and stir the amorous lover of youth and appear to him deserving of his attention and desirable. Is not that your ‘reaction’ to the fair? One, because his nose is tip-tilted, you will praise as piquant, the beak of another you pronounce right-royal, the intermediate type you say strikes the harmonious mean, [474e] the swarthy are of manly aspect, the white are children of the gods divinely fair, and as for honey-hued, do you suppose the very word is anything but the euphemistic invention of some lover who can feel no distaste for sallowness when it accompanies the blooming time of youth? And, in short, there is no pretext [475a] you do not allege and there is nothing you shrink from saying to justify you in not rejecting any who are in the bloom of their prime.” “If it is your pleasure,” he said, “to take me as your example of this trait in lovers, I admit it for the sake of the argument.” “Again,” said I, “do you not observe the same thing in the lovers of wine? They welcome every wine on any pretext.”
I thought by "author" you meant the book author herself, so I got confused as to how it caused a meltdown over someone discovering that loyal bisexuals only exist in fiction when it involves a M/M pairing.
Should have said no and not gave a fuck what the fujos say. Why are these people so scared of pissing off a bunch of unstable teenage girls and young chronically online women?
Another post about yaoi South Park. Bylers are still mad at the Duff brothers for not making it canon and believe Matt and Trey should make Stan and Kyle canon while making fun of the Duff brothers for not making Byler canon.
I know some will say they're just joking but honestly seeing how insane Bylers are its hard to tell. Plus, I've seen some fans of South Park who want another gay couple in the show. (BGA and Mr. Slave dont count because they're "stereotypes") I doubt very much they'll make another gay ship canon because there's no reason to and Tweek and Craig was a rare moment.

That Bylers are still crashing out about a ship (that literally anyone with a functioning brain never thought would be canon) still not being canon needs to be studied. Honestly just get rid of all Bylers and humanity’s average IQ would increase by 10 points.

Good thing I archived this because when I came back to it a day later it was deleted.
"Wow, men are really proving the point by showing how they lack empathy"
"Bitch you said we didn't have rich inner lives"
Someone points out fujos are the losers of their own fantasies. From posts like these, I'm inclined to agree.
"Men don't even ask me if I'm okay in real life, but they'll write poetry and go to war in yaoi"
Low Iron Maiden is a fujo with Crohn's disease who needs money to survive adulthood. She's anti-fascist, yet focuses more on pale skinned men than any supremacist.

Some drama in the Heated Rivalry fandom: a popular fanfic is being accused of being created by AI. The call-out doc is 51 pages.

Kinda yaoi related but am I the only one thats kinda glad that more and more people are calling out gay shipping? I've never acted like straight people were "oppressed" but seeing how nasty and aggressive a lot of queer shippers are to people who ship straight characters while acting like "queer" ships are revolutionary is so "eye rolling".

I’ve felt this since the lord of the rings movies came out and everyone was writing frodo/sam and Legolas/gimli smut because they are incapable of comprehending friendship between two men.
These people are some of the most homophobic people you’ll ever meet because they are completely unable to imagine that two men can be friends with one another without wanting to fuck each other. A man has close male friends? Must be gay to these goon brained weirdos!
They sexualize anything they can because it's their fetish to do so. That's really just it. Which is why it's so off putting. Their ships aren't even an AU what if way some people do. They just project their fetish on to everything. I think a lot of people have a difficult time articulating that so they fall back on clumsy woke ideologue language because fandom is infested with it.
Sort of the same fun house mirror way fujos will talk about the "emotional complexity" of their fake gay porn. What's likely going on is just that they feel drawn to it, feel good engaging with it, and that they're just reporting their own impulses. Of course things you like will feel good and be more "interesting" than things you don't.
There's not really a dearth of media in Western canon depicting male friendship - in fact, I would say that proportionally, there are vastly more books, films and shows generally showing platonic male bonds moreso than there are showing romantic ones, at least when you go back far enough. It might feel as if everything's gay now, but it's just because we're bombarded with it with every new piece of IP that comes out getting descended upon by fujoshi like swarms of lusty little locusts.
To be honest, if people ship Frodo and Samwise, I really couldn't care less because it's not as if it's offensive to interpret an impassioned male friendship as more romantic nor does it do a disservice to the integrity of the story; instead, I think it's fucking hilarious that out of all the representations of these two, they only ever go for the Peter Jackson live action versions. Some other iconic interpretations of Samwise and Frodo come from their animated counterparts, so for those unfamiliar please prepare yourselves for the unbridled arousal you're about to feel.
Weird how everybody only just saw the erotic potential for them as soon as wide-eyed Elijah Wood and round-faced Sean Astin stepped into the roles, isn't it?
However, I do think it is overall a net good to criticize fandom and yaoi shipping as a fandom phenomenon for other reasons such as "producing the most obnoxious and obsessive people of all time," "being an actual, for-real gateway to pooning out" and "making real life actors and their families distressed with their parasocial antisocial behavior and inappropriate boundaries." I don't think they'd be more tolerable if they shipped exclusively lesbians or heterosexual pairings because at the core of it, it's their caustic and borderline frightening fixations that make fujoshi truly dreadful to be around - butt-babies, heat cycles and milk enemas are simply the slutty little cherry on top of a sinful, sinful sundae.
Fujoshi make for a unique brand of fandom crazy because they are the members of fandom most likely to take their toys out of the sandbox and start forcing them on other people. If they simply sat in their little corners playing with their dolls and were fine with putting their toys away when adult responsibilities called for them, I doubt there'd be much to write about aside from just how yucky their sexual inclinations can get. But nay, we must be subjected to their politicized pornographic predilections as they order showrunners and authors to bend the stories to their whims lest they suffer accusations of bigotry.
Also, I'm tired of everybody saying they gravitate towards male/male relationships because of their supposed depth. Half of you people are writing about grown men with sagging, hairy sacks who burp and scratch their armpits as delicate poets who sincerely take interest in reading about the fucking love language of flowers. You know damn well Ghost and Soap aren't going to be talking at length about their feelings. So why not extend this level of fantastical rewriting to female characters, since it's not as if you want to honor canon anyway? Such an absolute first world problem to complain about, but it tickles my 'tism every time I think about it.

Its the hypocrisy and hostility that gets me. If you like a same sex ship that's fine, but I've seen these people bash straight ships and call them hetslop and act like their homoslop of ships are good even when they give the characters 0 dynamics and the only personality is that they're gay. Nothing more to it, and accuse you of being a homophobe if you call their ship slop. Like yeah, I should totally praise your ship where the two characters never interacted with each other as a good ship all because its a same sex pair. Another thing that gets me is how its ok for a "queer" ship to be toxic but if a straight ship is then its like "They should totally be with someone else" (almost always with someone of the same sex)

LotR has been popular since the '60s. There was slash before the Jackson movies, just obviously nowhere near as much, and a lot more fade-to-black. I seen't it on Usenet, and can only assume there were fanzines circulating before that.
Sorting out the difference between Eternal September and the influx of fans from the 2001 movie is far, far beyond my scope.
It's a shame the data are so obscure; it'd be funny if it turned out that the Bakshi movies led to less Frodo/Sam slash by putting "canonical" images out there.
Imagine you're a nerdy little fandom girl in 1978 mimeographing the hell out of your writing circle's LotR fanzine full of noble sacrifice/fealty-pledging stories, and you see that face in a preview before Return from Witch Mountain.
There are a lot of weird nerd girls who like shipping the weird nerd characters and odd looking men but a lot of them seem to focus on the quirky chungusness of it all and are less rabid. Less likely to be into the nasty weird sex shit. But I think they're a dying breed. For them it seemed to be more about the actual narrative and inner world of these characters so if that was appealing to them then the looks didn't matter as much. "Any two males" locusts don't care about that shit so they always latch on to more or less good looking characters or failing that the ones with obvious archetypes they can put into particular dynamics they favor.
This probably applies to yuri (Can't find an active yuri thread) more than yaoi but I feel like it still applies. Am I the only one who notices whenever a character has an extremely poor relationship with one person of the opposite sex, fans start headcanoning the character as gay? Aside from her hat (which doesn't even look like the lesbian flag) I've seen people in the South Park fandom who insist that Heidi Turner is a lesbian because she had an extremely toxic relationship with Eric Cartman and that some how makes her a lesbian. Im pretty sure any girl who would have dated Cartman would have had the exact same results. Either way, this feels like another weird attempt to queer everything to where its pretty much "Character has one toxic relationship? Have the creators ever thought about making them gay?"

Unfortunately, yes. These people seem incapable of comprehending that just because character A has had bad experiences with the opposite sex, that doesn't equate to her being a lesbian. I've seen this with characters like Anya from Mouthwashing, the aforementione Heidi from South Park, oldschool characters like Buttercup from the PPG, and many more. Half the time, it's just to get them out of the way for the yaoislop. The other half is they just desperately want every female character to be some kind of gay/bi. It's often projection.
These chicks don't like men because they're either:
- gay
- have had horrible past experiences w/ them
- have fallen for the leftist-SJW scheme/staunch misandrists
- all of the above
It doesn't matter if the character canonically gets with a man, is still straight after their trauma, or has had bad experiences with women, too. They'll just call it comphet or say she's repressed or that she's actually bi. But GOD FORBID if you ever take a gay character (or one that is actually bi) & put them in a hetero ship! Prepare to be carpetbombed.
If it weren't for fujos sheer numbers & injection of themselves into typically male media, I'm certain the yurihoes would be called out on this more. Both sides must queer everything up, but at least the lesbos actually like women.

Yeah and the crazy part is that its not just Heidi who gets this argument. I've seen people also use the same argument for Wendy and Bebe. Sure, Trey is shit at writing Stan and Wendy's relationship and making it less toxic, but the solution shouldn't be "Wendy should be with a girl" Hell, I can't even think of any episode where Wendy was ever interested in girls. She always was seen dating other guys like Tolkien or Darwin in Post Covid when she's not with Stan. Bebe is another girl that has had toxic relationships with the boys. What these people refuse to get is that the characters are suppose to be 9 years old. Of course 9 year olds of the opposite sex dont get along. Really, Trey and Matt have never been subtle with any of their characters. If they truly wanted Heidi, or any of the girls to be a lesbian then he would have made it canon already.
