Maybe Im looking for a time that probably wasn't there but I'd like for there to be a day where 90% of people in fandoms actually matched most people's sexuality irl and actually ship straight ships (mostly) and no one would have this weird obsession with "queerness". Im not acting like straight people are persecuted or anything, or that gay shipping wont exist, but I feel like a lot of people force themselves to like same sex ships because they want to appear progressive. The argument I've herd is "Queer kids want to see themselves and fandom provides a safe space for them". Even if this was true, straight ships should still outnumber gay ships. It just doesn't make sense how we have fandoms where you can complain about straight shipping, call it "heteroslop", and can get thousands upon thousands of likes on it, but if you dare complain about a queer ship not making any sense and its clearly just popular because its a homosexual ship, you'll be accused of "erasing gay people" from media. As much as I'd like that, I'll have to disagree. Just look at fujo slop like Heated Rivalry and the inclusion of tropey m/m ships in mainstream media. I fear we've yet to reach peak yaoi. And imo we won't be able to get rid of that scourge unless shipping as a whole gets pushed back into a corner of online fandom. With how obsessed everyone seems these days with ~queerness~, sexuality and gooning I sadly don't see that happening anytime soon.
Craig on South Park is actually gay in canon. My argument was how fujos have this obsession with reminding people he is even when hes not doing anything homo on screen. Like when he was a bully and tied a kid up and a comment has to go "Hes so gay". Like do they think that if they dont remind people that everyone will forget?Fujos claim to hate gender roles because it reminds them of societal misogyny, yet will turn around and assume who is gay or not because of how they look.
