There's so much news about North Korea right now and what Un is doing, I got a suggestion for a NK megathread, so here it is. Post the world's greatest nation's antics here. I'm merging a few of the more recent threads to continue discussion.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in has pushed for a new plan for a rapid war with North Korea and an overhaul of the country's defense industry to overwhelm and crush the North's government, the South Korean newspaper The Chosun Ilbo reported Tuesday.

Moon took office in May promising to attempt to engage diplomatically with North Korea and seek peace, but in the months since, the North has provoked the international community with missile tests at a blistering pace.

For some time, South Korea has been training a "decapitation force," reportedly with the help of the US Navy's SEAL Team 6, but now an increasingly bold North Korea may demand quicker action.

South Korea's new plan identifies more than 1,000 targets for precision missile fires and sites for marines to drop in and quickly kill North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, the paper reported.

The plan represents a more independent version of South Korea's current plan, which relies on support from US aircraft carriers. As it stands, no major military commander recommends military action against North Korea, which has a staggering array of conventional — and potentially nuclear — weapons pointed at Seoul, where 26 million call home.

But South Korea's new plan to quickly and decisively dominate the North relies on reforming the defense-acquisition process and cutting out wasteful spending to wield the full might of its economic dominance against Pyongyang, according to the report. For that reason, don't expect the plan to take effect anytime soon.

South Korea's president has revealed the first pictures of puppies mothered by one of North Korea's "peace gift" dogs, Gomi.

The North's leader, Kim Jong-un, sent the two dogs to his counterpart Moon Jae-in in a bid to promote peace amid thawing ties on the Korean peninsula.

Gomi, a Pungsan hunting dog, gave birth to three female and three male puppies.

President Moon shared photos of the dogs on the official Blue House twitter feed on Sunday.

"As the pregnancy period of dogs is about two months, Gomi must have come to us pregnant," he reportedly tweeted when the pups were born. "I hope inter-Korean affairs will be like this."

Days after the puppies were born, South Korea flew military planes filled with tangerines to Pyongyang. The North had previously sent pine mushrooms over the border following a summit between the two leaders.

Gomi and the other dog, Songgang, came to the South with nearly seven pounds of food, and joined President Moon's other pets - including rescue dog, Tory.

Mr Moon has met Mr Kim three times this year and has acted as a mediator between him and US President Donald Trump.

In September, he became the first South Korean leader to give a speech to the North Korean public during a trip to Pyongyang. He spoke at the Arirang Games - a major propaganda event - and received a standing ovation from 150,000 people.

More recently, President Moon said he was confident the Korean War could soon be ended.

The conflict ended in 1953 with an armistice, but no peace treaty was ever signed.

SEOUL, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- A North Korean religious group has sent a rare Christmas greeting to South Korea in a video.

The North Korean Council of Religionists, an association of five religions, wished a Merry Christmas and peace and prosperity to South Koreans, in a short video.

The film starts with a series of pictures of Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and photos of North-South Korean summits this year. North Korea attended the Olympic Game, held in the South Korean city of Pyeongchang in February, an event that offered a diplomatic breakthrough to improve the inter-Korean relationship.

Then, a man named Kang Ji-young, head of the North Korean religious group appears and reads a Christmas message.

"I send congratulatory and peaceful greetings for Christmas to South Korean brothers and sisters," he said.

The video continues with scenes in which North Koreans attend services at Jangchung Cathedral and Bongsu Church, two of the state-operated churches in North Korea.

A message also read: "We hope North and South Korean religionists, who go hand in hand towards peace and unification, filled with blessings by Christ the Lord."

The video, which lasts one minute and 38 seconds, was aired at a Christmas concert last Friday at Seoul Anglican Cathedral, according to Kookmin Ilbo.

Approved by the South Korea Unification Ministry, the video was delivered to the South Korean Commission on Faith and Order of Korean Churches, according to Joongang Ilbo.

North Korea forbids any religious practices and considers religion a threat to the regime's existence but operates a state-authorized religious group and churches to promote it has religious freedom to the outside world.

According to a South Kora's unification ministry report on North Korea, North Korea's founding leader Kim Il Sung banned any religious services, calling religion "essentially superstitious."

Earlier this month, the United States State Department designated North Korea as one of the violators of religious freedom for 17 consecutive years.

N.Korea Sends Christmas Message to S.Korea
By Kim Myong-song

December 26, 2018 09:46

North Korea has sent a Christmas video message to South Korean churches, according to the Unification Ministry on Tuesday.

The North's Korean Council of Religionists sent the 98-second video to the Commission on Faith and Order of Korean Churches, a combined organization of Catholic and Protestant churches.

It was played at a Christmas concert in Seoul Anglican Cathedral last Friday.

It shows a mass at Changchung Cathedral and a worship at Bongsu Church in Pyongyang, as well as a Christmas tree. A subtitle says, "The implementation of joint North-South declarations is a common mission and responsibility of religionists in the North and the South."

Ryu Dong-ryeol of the Korea Institute of Liberal Democracy, said, "It's part of the North's propaganda activities to dilute its bad reputation as a country that persecutes religious beliefs and to coax South Korean churches into supporting the joint declaration" adopted at the inter-Korean summit in April.

We live in a timeline where a Republican POTUS is praising North Korea.
I hope this is just his attempt to throw a bone to the KCNA state propagandists to set up a smooth course for the forthcoming summit.

Since Trump is going to see Fatty, they keep replaying this bit of footage on news in Japan :

Think of him as the god emperor from 40K but instead of feeding him psychic energy they’re feeding him the starving citizens instead.

is marxist leninist trumpism real?
Obama and Trump both greenlighted US arms sales to Vietnam because Vietnamese hate Red Chinks due to the Mongol invasion, the Khmer Rouge, the 1979 war, and the South China Sea territorial disputes. They hate Red Chinks so much that US actually has higher approval rating than China over there. And they did manage the transition from socialist command economy to state-capitalism as well as the Red Chinese, so it's actually a good case study for Nork economists if they are given the go ahead for a reformist policy.

Only Nixon could go to China, as they say, and only Trump could get away with calling Kim a friend without being crucified by the baying MSM.

praising a communist nation
referring to kim jong un as his friend

is marxist leninist trumpism real?

Vietnam is nominally communist. They got rid of their shitty Marxist economy and adopted free market principles decades ago. Basically the communist party is still in charge, but they let private enterprise do its own shit.

The MSM was absolutely seething during the Singapore Summit, I can't imagine they'll be any happier this time.

I do like that every time he does these overseas summits, he drags all of the MSM's top news anchors and reporters and their staff halfway round the world for a week, and this time they have to slum it in a shitty third world, SEAsian shithole. If only John McCain was still around, Trump could brag that he spent a week in the Hanoi Hilton without starring in an anti-American propaganda broadcast.

As if McCain's death will stop?

After the trail joke he made towards Warren I put nothing past him.

The summit just went sideways: No deal, No end of summit joint briefer.

edit:
According to the post session Q&A with the President and Secretary of State, the Primary issue was that the DPRK was effectively asking for total sanctions removal for partial denuclearization, The US refused that offer, Both sides walked.

Status quo remains on missile testing.

USA not committing to 3rd Summit
