There's so much news about North Korea right now and what Un is doing, I got a suggestion for a NK megathread, so here it is. Post the world's greatest nation's antics here. I'm merging a few of the more recent threads to continue discussion.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in has pushed for a new plan for a rapid war with North Korea and an overhaul of the country's defense industry to overwhelm and crush the North's government, the South Korean newspaper The Chosun Ilbo reported Tuesday.

Moon took office in May promising to attempt to engage diplomatically with North Korea and seek peace, but in the months since, the North has provoked the international community with missile tests at a blistering pace.

For some time, South Korea has been training a "decapitation force," reportedly with the help of the US Navy's SEAL Team 6, but now an increasingly bold North Korea may demand quicker action.

South Korea's new plan identifies more than 1,000 targets for precision missile fires and sites for marines to drop in and quickly kill North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, the paper reported.

The plan represents a more independent version of South Korea's current plan, which relies on support from US aircraft carriers. As it stands, no major military commander recommends military action against North Korea, which has a staggering array of conventional — and potentially nuclear — weapons pointed at Seoul, where 26 million call home.

But South Korea's new plan to quickly and decisively dominate the North relies on reforming the defense-acquisition process and cutting out wasteful spending to wield the full might of its economic dominance against Pyongyang, according to the report. For that reason, don't expect the plan to take effect anytime soon.

Nah, he's definitely lost weight. The problem is that now he's getting the "Kim" family looks. As the fat goes away he looks more like his dad and granddad, and also looks older.

Honestly Un is far less entertaining than his dad or granddad. No kidnapping of movie directors to force they to make movies, no demanding the peasants grow corn that’s hilariously unsuitable for the climate.

If South Korea had moved their capital away from the DMZ right after the Korean War, probably nobody would really care about their crazy cult. Well, except for the counterfeiting, most countries get testy when another country’s main export is counterfeits of their currency.

Hey, look, textbook whataboutism.

I would say that China and Russia are currently more vilified in the western world than the Norks, but, yes, the Norks are more vilified than, say, Kazakhstan. But if the government of Kazakhstan were to decide some day that oppressing its own subjects are no longer enough and start threatening both neighbors and countries on other continents, combined with periodic test-firing of rockets near and over such countries, they might start to get some more attention as well.

North Korea is just Stalinism/Maoism allowed to run amok for 7 decades, there was not a whole lot of difference between the USSR under Stalin, Maoist China and North Korea, not to mention the various other "socialist republics" that spawned. Although I believe a very good argument can be made that communists are not in fact human, unfortunately it isn't really alien because biological examinations conclude that they are human beings and this sickness was very common throughout the world during the last century. China, while still retaining elements from Stalinism/Maoism, would be as oppressive and bizarre as the DPRK if they had doubled down on Mao's doctrines instead of embracing more economically liberal and internationalist ideas from people like Deng Xiaoping, who, while an evil piece of trash in his own right, was a fair bit less extreme than the puritanically totalitarian Mao and his sycophants, and was more of a Marxist-Leninist advocating for gradual implementation of communism through retarded "phases" of capitalist/socialist hybrids and then just socialism itself, being more in line with post-Stalin USSR leaders like Khrushchev.

It's not exactly "hatred," it's more along the lines of using it as an case study as to why planning an economy under the socialist/communist dictatorship model usually doesn't pan out very well.

Plus, it's kind of hard not to feel bad about their plebs.

They lack a certain-family-controlled central bank. They refuse to participate in playing the game everyone else is playing. Also, let's just say that their soil is quite rich.

North Korea is essentially a lolcow in National form. Look at ADF for your best comparison.

We don't hate the Norks, we just enjoy laughing at the antics of their government.
