The defenders and bots have discovered Memnon, I see. It seems too stupid to need pointing out that though there were Ethiopians in the Trojan War, the characters they have race-swapped were not among those Ethiopians. Wouldn't a woker thing be to make a movie focusing on the actual less well-known black characters in Greek mythology? That these directors have legitimate ways of including minorities in their movies that they just completely ignore shows me it's purely outrage marketing and spite and they don't care about the material at all.
LOL! Memnon would still be a White demigod leading a Black army to help his uncle Priam. His father was a Trojan royal.

If you want to make me believe a black woman is worthy of being called so beautiful a war is fought over her it better be something like this:

Much like antisemitism we cannot let an appreciation of actual Nubian Qweens filter down to the lumpenproletariat.

Nubia was also a relatively minor polity, and was only relevant for a few hundred years when they managed to conquer lower Egypt and establish a short lived pharaonic dynasty.

The claim that the Greeks cribbed from "African" culture also comes from the same idea these people have that because Carthage was in "Africa", Hannibal was either a full blown Bantu negro, or at a minimum a swarthy Arab looking guy. In actuality, he probably looked much like a modern day Israeli or Iranian. Relatively pale skin with black hair and brown eyes. North Africa, especially in the classical period had very little to do even with Africa south of the Sahara. Same deal with Cleopatra. Because Egypt is in "Africa" she was a Bantu kween. Even though she was very explicitly described as being a whitey, and was descended from one of Alexanders generals who "kept it in the family" precisely so they could preserve their Greek heritage.

The people shrieking all the time about "cultural appropriation" sure are pretty shameless about appropriating culture when it suits them. But at this point it is tiring to point out, so I just don't go to the movies or watch TV anymore.

It had more to do with preserving wealth with the addition of promoting cultural syncretism to better run their empires. The Ptolemies were big into fusing both Greek and Egyptian traditions to the point of having a literal fusion of Zeus and Osiris called Serapis. I'm sure the native Egyptians were pissed about this and the Seleucids mixing with the locals, giving in to Anatolian/Levantine cults and the cult of Mithras, making a hybrid culture of Greek and Semitic, which is actually really not that different from the BS you see with this movie.

The Wokyssey bullshit continues:

It turned out Greece gave Nolan over 6 million € for his tranny jogger abomination where no greek actors were cast.

The revelation about Nolan's "Odyssey" - It will receive 6.5 million euros in state subsidy - The Diavgeia document
Christopher Nolan will receive over 6,500,000 euros in state money for the film "Odyssey"

Director Christopher Nolan 's decision to cast actress Lupita Nyong'o as Helen of Troy has sparked backlash.

The Hollywood director decided to approach the greatest literary work, the Homeric epics, from a different perspective in the film "Odyssey", which was filmed in Messinia and premieres in July.

Nolan's film, which obeys Hollywood's demands and not the real testimonies about the Homeric Epics, was also financed by our state coffers, with over 6,000,000 euros.

According to the Star, Christopher Nolan will receive over 6,500,000 euros in government money.

The decision, as shown in the relevant document, is dated yesterday, and was published in Diavgeia.

Musk reacted strongly to the casting choices for the film, directing his fire at both Lupita Nyong'o and Elliot Page, using particularly offensive language on social media.

His reaction seems to be linked to information published by TIME magazine, according to which Lupita Nyong'o will take on a dual role in the film, playing both Helen of Troy and Clytemnestra, wife of Agamemnon.

At the same time, Musk also commented on the participation of Elliot Page, with whom Nolan had previously collaborated on the film "Inception".

"Christopher Nolan is desecrating Homer's tomb. Disgraceful. He is brutally insulting the Greeks. Shame on him," he said in a post on the X platform.

Meanwhile the "View" claims that Helen of Troy was subsaharan african:

Idk if this will have negative repercussions for Nolan but that would be good.

I want it to be such a catastrophic flop that studios will be hesitant to bankroll that overrated fuck Nolan in the future. At worst, it'll underperform. People will still go to see it because he's like so deep and really grasps the human condition maaaaaaaan, but I like to dream sometimes. Normies fawn all over him and it makes me sick.

Sad to think that forgettable Clash of the Titans remake was more faithful to Greek myth than Nolan. And it had a better cast: Liam Neeson, Luke Evans, Ralph Fiennes, Mads Mikkelsen, and a young Nicholas Hoult. None of them are Greek as far as I know, but at least they aren't troons and rappers, and can actually act.

Hell, the even more forgotten 'Immortals' film at least looked pretty, which this film won't since Nolan loves dreary grey too much. And it's own brown-casting is way easier on the eyes than Nolan's Athena and Helen:

Wow! Sounds like Universal is about to be sued like Netflix after 2pac's alpha widow's Cleopatra documentary.

That version was packed with African extras if you look more closely.

I really, really, really want to go back to the time when I thought Gordon Mitchell's "raised on steaks, bourbon, gunpowder and Lucky Strikes" Achilles was an odd casting choice.

But at least they weren't generally major characters. Athena was some blond musician

Not some mid-looking MCU actress with one facial expression.

And Princess Andromeda (who is comparable to Helen of Troy, given that Andromeda's great beauty is pretty crucial to the Greek myth), wasn't played by a black chick with a weird face people keep insisting is beautiful. I wouldn't call Alexa Davalos a 10, but she's hardly hard on the eyes.

At least. But they're still distracting like the obviously Italian German soldiers were in Ilsa: She-Wolf of the SS. They used to do this in the 2000s and 2010s before the wokery we're experiencing now took the wheel: putting a painfully out of place extra or two in the shot and linger on them. Remember this woman from Desolation of Smaug?

She's hot. What I find interesting is that a Latina, a swarthy Jewess or an Arab bint would've also been accurate casting as Andromeda was an Aethiopian princess and King Cepheus was originally from Egypt.
