I honestly don't think I've ever seen a cast this awful. Matt Damon is terrible as anyone but Matt Damon, and friggin' Zendaya again? Also Ellen Page sans boobies and cuteness. Just foul.

the only Odyssey adaptation we need is O Brother Where Art Thou
O Muse!
Sing in me, and through me tell the story
Of that man skilled in all the ways of contending,
A wanderer, harried for years on end...

Unironically one of my favorite movies, and it made me a huge Coen brothers fan.

Looks like complete fucking slop. The cast list is full of boring choices that is typical of Hollywood and Odysseus looks like your basic bitch swords and sandals character from the early 2000s rather than trying something new with an actual bronze age aesthetic. It's also completely stupid to not start with the Iliad, and the only reason they wouldn't is because they think it's unfilmable, but all the crazy stuff that happens on Odysseus' journey before arriving at Calypso's island is only 4 books and the rest is Telemachus figuring out about his father and especially a lot of Odysseus planning the murder of the suitors. I don't know why Hollywood execs are so attracted to the Iliad and Odyssey but not what makes those stories actually interesting.

Unfortunately, we do know the answer.

When the movie was announced little ago, a lot of people claimed they didn't know what the Odyssey was about. Not that they didn't read the book, they didn't know the story, despite its importance for our culture. So, the only way to attract people to watch movies like this, is by baiting them with action and FX. They won't sit down two or three hours watching Odysseus to use his wits, but rather kicking ass. I mean, I do want to watch that (it's very satisfactory when he kills the suitors), but what Odysseus is known for is for being a clever man.

What are you on about? The Ancient Greeks were White.
Not exactly, they were mediterranean. Olive-skinned. They lived on peninsulas and in coastal cities.
The bigger problem is that Tom Holland and Matt Damon don't look like ancient heroes, they look like pampered celebrities.

No, modern Mediterranean people are olive skinned, thanks to Turkish and North African Muslim invasions. Ancient Greeks were White.
It seems like the original greeks are a mixture of a lot of european features, is that what you mean when you say white?

You can be white and have a darker skin tone than, for example, the Scandinavians. Mediterranean people have a darker complexion compared to the rest of Euros because of geographical factors.

Each of these men is 100% Spanish. Yet, they all have dark hair, dark brows, dark beards, etc.
