Usually Switch updates change or add something, even if its just a list of patch note fixes, but this was just the old 'stability improvements' that the 3ds got whenever they tried to kill modding for a bit, and it was a major version increment, usually this sort of thing would be 16.1 instead.
That’s what I mean, even major versions are usually stability improvements with nothing else.

There's a reason for that for witch at least: very little art is reused. They will make a entire background for one scene and toss it. It's autistic how detailed it is. Hense the file size
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot of junk data that does inflate the size though. VNs have long been infamous for doing this, it just sorta stopped to be an apparent issue in the 2010's once more and more games went (far) above 10GB mundanely.

Nintendo released system firmware 17.0 yesterday with no changes at all other than 'stability',
It's often been updates of the word banlist across languages as of late. 14.0 was the last huge update which enabled software groups and better behavior of Bluetooth audio devices.

They changed the cover art for the Peach game to be more in line with movie Peach, lol

Not only does this look really bad for reasons other for reasons @Xerxes IX mentioned, but they didn't even bother trying editing the top or left side renders at all besides zooming them in, so you have a render mismatch due to the photoshop and thus a far uglier cover than if they didn't bother trying (they also didn't do this for Mario Wonder, if you were wondering).

Had to make her more girlboss in the karate outfit too lol. That movie was fine but its effect on the series longterm won't be good and I knew it. Still not that bad yet...
I don't think they'll advertise the game at all, at leas compared to how much they have been doing for Mario Wonder, probably because there's a chance the people behind it might know it's not going to sell well for the same reason the last time Nintendo gave Peach her own game, even if the switch was a lot more successful than the DS. plus I doubt there might be any momentum left for any sales from the movie left given that its been a few months and pretty forgotten given it being an Illumination movie.

Switch isn't a llt more successful than DS yet, is it? DS is barely below PS2 in hardware sales. Maybe Switch has stronger software sales? But yeah, it seems like they won't push the game too hard.

Yeah I wonder how well the Peach game will do. It seems be targeted for a very niche female audience of gamers. But, the switch does seem to give games that otherwise would've done poorly elsewhere decent sales, so who really knows.

According to VGCharts, the switch is currently 30 million away from the lifetime sales of the DS, give or take, but it's close enough to say that there likely won't be too much of a push since they have the two Mario RPG Remakes that brought more a lot more hype than the Peach game did on their first reveal that they can get more out of advertising by the time they get to releasing.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Witch of the Holy night is Nasus real first baby from high school and since hes a millionaire with top connections to japans creative scene, he can afford that and be forgiven.
And he worked on it a long time. Released in the 2000's then RERELEASED in the late 2010's with a English sub, voice acting, and everything upscaled to HD, it was nothing short of a pet project that ACTUALLY managed to get finished

Once you see it, you'll realize it's one step from being a full anime. It's that detailed. And that Hi Def. It's barely the typical VN PowerPoint format we're used to. It feels like watching a movie almost. I can fully believe it's 20 gigs.

Why ban reee though? That's just funny bantz.

I think the Peach box art could less be trying to make her girlboss but more like what they have been doing with Kirby for years.

Apparently, they think Kirby sells better in the west if he looks angry or tough on the box art.

You say that, but Kirby box-arts have remained unchanged internationally for 5+ years now...

I don't think it's a Kirby situation. Especially nowadays, when that "girly" stigma is so nonexistent that you'd probably get bashed for implying it in any context outside of fishing for pity points/explaining why your god-awful social justice project failed.
