which would mean I'd need to re-buy every game I've purchased and wouldn't that suck.
At that point just buy a modchip and pirate everything instead. If they are that retarded they don't deserve your money. They ban modded consoles that go online from anything on their servers, so even if you aren't pirating stuff and just using it for game mods or homebrew you get forced to pirate updates anyway, at that point screw them and just pirate everything.
To the 1 person who bothered to pay the $60 for the 1+2 Pikmin port, has anyone noticed the music sounds a bit off?
Take note of the Oboe instrument playing at 3:10 here

I wonder if its an emulated version like Mario Sunshine was, or if its like the Mario Galaxy port and a half emulated half port, if its half port that might explain the issue with Midi instruments sounding off. Gamecube had a dedicated sound chip, Switch does not, could be because game code is ported and only graphics are emulated? That's how Galaxy worked.

Yeah, I actually read one of those the last time I had to replace a console. The problem is.... all the methods I saw either assume A) you have a working Switch (and the entire problem I have is that its battery is drained and I have no way to charge it) or else B) hope you have it backed up... and I never learned the online version of the account transfer method.

I'm thinking of just mailing it in to Nintendo, but I've been warned Nintendo doesn't repair the unit, they just give you a replacement, and that in cases like mine they might not bother to transfer account details.... which would mean I'd need to re-buy every game I've purchased and wouldn't that suck.

That could be lies from a troll, of course, but it wouldn't shock me.
When in doubt, you can always just call Nintendo customer support, explain the situation, and listen to what they say they'll do instead of guessing.

Literally just look into Switch emulators and pirate the games if it would burn a hole in your wallet otherwise.
Yeah, I will just look around for places to download Switch ROM's so I can get Malware and Viruses on my computer. Then worry with an emulator if there even is one for the Switch. Emulation isn't 100% perfect. I know because I have used them.

That's a lot easier than just buying the game and play it on my Switch.

The people who mark posts as dumb autistic and MATI are often the ones that dumb autistic and MATI. LOL

It's just a little something I have noticed. I imagine taking someone's joke about going broke from buying video games that serious. LOL

Also found out the Arkham games are getting Switch ports. Yes even Arkham Knight. I don't know how they plan to pull it off because Arkham Knight was pretty good looking and demanding game back in 2015. Even without the shit PC port it was still pretty hardware demanding. The Switch is basically a handheld slightly overclocked 360. I will wait to see what it's like before I buy it. Hopefully it's a physical release as well. I don't know how they will cram 3 games on a Switch cart that has about 32-64GB of memory on it. Arkham Knight alone is about 55GB. I already have them on PC. But I would like to play them on the Switch.

Looks like my Switch is going to keep me broke. lol
If you already have the games on PC then why buy them again for an old device? If it's to play on the go, then get a Steam Deck.

Don't be retarded and use an adblocker, its just that easy, nobody bothers with malware unless its one of those stupidly obvious sites, in that case you deserve the malware for being a retard

Man you are retarded.
Emulation isn't 100% perfect. I know because I have used them.
Emulation for everything up to the Wii/Gamecube is essentially perfect now minus a few outliers like the n64. I doubt you have actually used an emulator that isn't a paid Nintendo subscription because you seem too retarded to figure out how to use one.
That's a lot easier than just buying the game and play it on my Switch.
Good, spend your money and go back to reddit while you are at it.

I'm sure if you described your problem to Nintendo, if it's at all possible for them to transfer your data, they could.

Fwiw, Nintendo's account system changed with Switch, so your downloaded games are tied to your account, not your physical machine like Wii U and 3DS. So even if your Switch is FUBAR'd, you're only gonna lose your saves.

I think you need to learn to not take stuff so literally. I know it's hard for people with certain afflictions. The kind of afflictions that keep you from being able to do people stuff. Like sarcasm humor and so on.
Talking about going broke buying video games, even jokingly, is consoomer behavior. You are acting like a consoomer. Consoomers are diseased.

So there's been a weird development in the saga of my "broken" Switch.

So like I said, I have two docks and two AC adapters (I sold the first Switch that broke but kept the accessories). When this issue started, the first thing I thought to do was test using the other dock and power cord, which is why I believed the Switch's USB-C port was broken.

But just two hours ago, I decided to give it another shot and.... it charged to 30% before it stopped charging.

And just now, I found out that if I unplug it from the power strip (actually a UPS, but I've got the Switch plugged into one of the non-battery backed ports) and then plug it back in... it continues charging.

And yes, it does this with both AC adapters.

I also felt it was prudent, at the times when the AC Adapter stops working with the Switch, to see if it also stops charging any other USB-C devices I have, and it turns out... that's exactly the case.

So now I'm thinking just one of the ports on my power strip is bad, so I make room and try a different one.... but nope.... Switch is back to not detecting it was plugged in (and this is a port that had previously been powering a device, so I know the port itself works).

Incidentally with both docks, if I put the Switch in, it'll eventually do that thing where the green LED blinks a lot.

So I'm guessing all that happened is the USB-C port was in what I've heard people call a "sweet spot." I've seen this with broken charge ports before, where sometimes the pins align just right for them to work like they used to. It's awesome when it happens but its not something you can count on.

EDIT: So....the problem changed. Apparently now charging works just fine, but now neither of my docks will output to TV. Sometimes they don't even detect the Switch, sometimes they act like they're gonna (the Switch's screen goes black, the dock light comes on) only no picture comes to TV. Sometimes they go immediately into blinking light mode... sometimes they act normal then only go blinky when I remove the Switch from the dock.

And yes I've tried both my (official) AC adapters and different HDMI cables including one brand-new unopened cable. It's like this Switch is magic, one problem just healed itself but another took its place.

Also sometimes the system does not want to turn on unless I'm holding down power and volume down. Still, at least it DOES power on and has enough charge that I could transfer my account to another unit now.

REALLY poor choice of words there
come on dude, it's a japanese dude doing a press release to a bunch of english speakers, give him some slack

As for the actual news: this is pretty good, but I didn't expect much else lol. The Nintendo Switch had compatibility with the Nintendo ID stuff from the Wii U/3DS days and I'd be very surprised if the Switch's successor didn't do something similar, especially with how enormous the Switch's installbase is. Despite all their other shitty online practices, Nintendo's actually been pretty consistent with how they handle accounts.

You do realize "transition" has meanings outside of trooning, right? Seriously what you're trying to imply is such a forced interpretation that its reminding me of the "Getting Crap Past the Radar" or implied shipping parts of TV Tropes articles.

Well at least Nintendo finally understands the necessity of an account system that is not not tied to a particular console. On the other hand...

There are also no promises (yet) that users' existing libraries of digital games will necessarily carry across, and it may not necessarily mirror what's seen on other platforms.
They may not have figured out that this extends to the games you buy as well. My only hope is that they may try reintroduce the Virtual Console or equivalent to replace their current system of trickling out 20 year old games.

you WILL buy Super Mario World for the 50th time, and you WILL be happy with it
I get that Nintendo fanatics have a certain faggotry about piracy

But do all of them really just sell off their systems the second a new one comes out?

There comes a point where I have to just go "No shit Nintendo is going to do this if the retards keep going along with it."

no, it's even more retarded than that - they still hold onto the systems and original cartridges it's based on - and yet still get excited whenever they get shoddily emulated to whatever Ninty's flavor-of-the-month retro package is. don't believe me? Look up some of the reaction videos to Goldeneye's NSO announcement
