Jeez, touched a nerve apparently. All I’m saying is the last five years or so have shown an all-time low in Nintendo going out of their way to moderate what third parties can put on their storefront, while also showing an all time high in everyone else (especially Sony) moderating what third parties can put on their storefronts. In terms of lewd weebshit in particular, Nintendo has developed a bit of a reputation for not succumbing to the same censorship policies as its competition. Granted, this is almost definitely an unintentional side-effect of Nintendo taking whatever they can get after the Wii U, and most people (myself included) don’t care about these games to begin with, but it’s still interesting to think about considering their family-friendly image.

Should've clarified as such the first time around.

This is bafflingly stupid. Nintendo's lack of censorship is literally one of the few things to get them consistently good press in the gaming sphere, and probably encouraged a lot people to buy a Switch so they could avoid Sony's stupider than usual censorship. Now, their censorship is even stupider than Sony's. Under this censorship regime, The Witcher 3 would never have come to the Switch. It makes no sense.

Yeeeeah, naw. Ninty's always been the more family-friendly option compared to the other two (there's a reason shit like Eternal Darkness and Conker stood out so much on their respective consoles - they were the exception, not the rule). And they were even stricter back in the 90s (e.g. the SNES version of Mortal Kombat having no gore).
The 90s were a long time ago at this point. It should also be noted that the censorship Nintendo was most infamous for was a purely Nintendo of America thing, not a Nintendo of Japan thing.

Though I think it should also be noted that these claims are merely a rumor at this point, as Go Nintendo notes them as, and, according to comments on the article linked, the bigger issue may be that the game in question they are talking about is not reviewed by the ESRB. Nintendo themselves have said in the past that they will allow anything as long as its properly rated. And this developer is known for purely releasing hentai games. So, we'll just have to see if this guy claiming this is only talking out of his ass or not.

So the reviews for NieR:Automata The End of YoRHa Edition are starting to come in, and it souns like they did an excellent job of porting the game to the Switch:

"Nier: Automata gets enough right on Switch that it's still definitely worth playing here. Combat still feels smooth, loading times are reasonable, and in the several hours we tested, it was easy to forget it wasn't running on a PlayStation or Xbox."
"Nier Automata is one of the best games from the previous generations of consoles, and it has made the jump to the Nintendo Switch in a mind-bogglingly impressive fashion. Little to no noticeable compromises have been made to get it onto a handheld system, and the magical, inventive nature of the thing sings just as loud as ever."
"This might be the best third-party Switch port I’ve ever played, which makes it incredibly easy to recommend this game to anyone who has never played it before. There are simply no two ways about it: NieR Automata was a triumph of design in 2017, and it is a triumph of porting big games to Switch in 2022."
"Nier: Automata on Switch is more than good enough to finish endings A to E all over again if you’ve done it already - this time from the comfort of wherever the hell you like. And for newcomers, this port is of such a high standard that you’re guaranteed to not come away feeling you’ve had an inferior experience compared to that of pals who played this wonderfully singular hack-and-slash-and-cry-a-bit ‘em up on other platforms. It’s a showcase for how the Switch really needn’t be a ‘lesser’ system than its console-generation peers, when a port’s in the right hands."

Hoping to pick up a copy day one.

Don't know where else to put this:

Color me somewhat impressed. The Mario movie looks pretty accurate, if not a bit too much like Super Nintendo World (which makes sense, considering who's behind the movie). We shall see if the rest of it holds up come Thursday.

I knew he was gonna look off. There was not much other reason to hide his front on the poster otherwise. It's not as drastic as Sonic's initial design but it looks sort of uncanny, like they leaned a bit too far into realism.

It's been on a castle since Mario 64 so that's actually consistent with their "world building".
Mario 64 didn't seem like it was positioned on the tip of a weird hill. It even had a beach.

I'll wait until the trailer before I judge anything. If it looks fun and relatively faithful, it'll be good enough for me.

But please Nintendo, no characters crossing into the "real world". It's totally overdone.

I expect the opposite; they'll start in the "real world" and end up in the Mushroom Kingdom, like the old Mario movie. In fact, my only doubt it'll happen is how much they probably want to distance themselves from that movie.

Was just going to post this if no one hadn't already, but yeah. Not too bad, but definitely in uncanny valley territory. Y'know that hidden Dino Crisis rendition of the Mario theme?

That's the kind of vibe I get from it. Maybe it'll look better in motion, or maybe this is an early design and they tweaked it a bit since then.
