I can’t post any pictures here, but if I had to sum up my thoughts on the teaser trailer, it would look like this:

:O - Hearing Jack Black as Bowser for the first time
:| - Hearing Keegan-Michael Key as Toad for the first time
:| - Hearing Chris Pratt as Mario for the first time
:lit: - Hearing Charlie Day as Luigi for the first time*

Seeing Luigi getting chased by Dry Bones was funny, and it reminded me of what is to come if they ever have a Luigi’s Mansion reference

Either way, I’m sure Miyamoto is going to help fine tune this movie so his creation doesn’t get too out of hand.

OK. Mario Movie trailer just finished. Some quick thoughts:

1. The movie looks incredible.
2. The penguins were a cute touch.
3. The worst-case scenario for Mario's voice is true. He just sounds like Chris' character from The LEGO Movie. Everyone else's voice is....surprisingly decent. Even Keegan as Toad, which is a shocker.
4. Just the one Power Star? Although this could be like the Sonic movie, like it's a Grand Star or something.

Overall, actually better than expected (again, aside from Mario's voice).
Star thing could be like -but legally distinct from- SMRPG where each star "thing" was a big deal and guarded by someone.

edit: Oh, and for those who can't stand Chris Pratt's lack of voice acting, you might prefer watching the film in French instead?

So it looks like Peach's design for the movie has also been leaked (lower left corner):

Tough to say from just that but she looks okay. I don't get why they don't just keep them 1:1 but whatever.

I think the face changes are so that they can move the mouths more naturally. Real Mario doesn't exactly talk directly into the camera a lot, but movie Mario is going to have to do a lot of that, hence the bigger mouth and stretched face to fit it.

when mario does not talk or emote you don't even see his mouth.

what gets me more is that he has a collar now.

i hope the movie does not go to much into the "real" world.

In non movie news, anyone try Nier Automata on the switch yet? watching the digital foundry review, it seems like a real solid port especially on handheld mode.

Haven't played it yet, but from what I've heard it's one of the best Switch ports from a technical standpoint. Very faithful to the original versions, with very few concessions made in regards to performance.

Hoping to pick up a copy soon.

Yeah it seems like they really nailed it with Nier. Also the Switch versions of the Portal games came out really good.

Since this thread talked a lot about the 8bitdo controllers, I figured I should let you guys know they're releasing an 'ultimate controller'

3 different SKUS, but the most expensive one (70 dollarydoos) uses Hall Effect joysticks.
Yeah, about 8BitDo, I've bought a Pro 2 once for PC gaming, and it had some weird ass issues with the USB connection, to the point where after a month of using it it just refused to connect via cable, and was having issues with pairing by Bluetooth. Plus all the buttons were loosely fitted so they would rattle when the pad was shaken and the D-pad would slide around in it's cutout. Thankfully I got a refund for that but I wouldn't buy anything 8BitDo after that, it seems like they have quality control issues, and even issues with the hardware itself. As soon as the Xbox Series controllers get back in stock I'm gonna buy one, I've learned my lesson not to cheap out on controllers. Maybe I just landed on a bad unit, but besides the hardware issues the build quality itself was questionable.

My new Pro 2 won’t keep a Bluetooth connection for more than a few minutes unless I connect it in Switch mode, and I think that forces the triggers to be digital instead of analog. And my Pro 1 that I’ve had for a little over two years has an A button that recently started sticking for a moment after pressing it. Why are there almost no high-quality SNES style Bluetooth controllers when Xbox style controllers are a dime a dozen?

At the risk of sounding exactly like an 8BitDo shill with the entirety of my post, it does certainly sound like you had a bum unit. My SN30 Pro+ ran into a lot of the issues you just described and even ended up with some of the buttons sticking after about less than a year's worth of continuous use, but the Pro 2 I ordered to replace it has held up incredibly well by contrast. Far as I can tell, USB connection is just jank in general because of Windows fuckery (unless you happen to be running a Linux/UNIX-based OS, in which case, maybe there is an actual problem with the hardware in and of itself?), although neither of my controllers have ever had any Bluetooth pairing issues.

Do you have a separate Bluetooth adapter for your computer or are you connecting via an on-board Bluetooth adapter? Because, from my understanding, those on-board, built-in adapters are absolutely horrid for holding a decent Bluetooth connection. So much so that I actually have to prop my hands/wrists on my desk when playing using my controller just to keep a stable connection.

Yeah the only reason I bought the Pro 2 was because I wanted to cheap out on the Xbox controller, but now that it has fucked up on me and I got my refund, I'm just gonna buy what I wanted to buy in the first place, although I'll have to wait for it to get back in stock first. Perhaps it will work better since it's designed by Microsoft with Windows PC support in mind. And maybe it will be better made overall compared to the 8BitDo. I really want to get back to playing through Red Dead Redemption on Xenia, and you can't really do that comfortably without a controller. Emulation is the main reason I've decided to buy a controller in the first place.

Mine is an on-board adapter with antennas sticking out from the back of the PC. If that’s the case, maybe I should look into a good USB adapter. I also have 8bitdo’s official adapter that I use for the Pro 1 since I use it for multiple systems and syncing to it is more convenient than going through Bluetooth settings every time I change systems, but I’d like to get standard Bluetooth working for the Pro 2 since I’ll only use it on PC.

Buyer beware because, despite the fact that the old 360 controllers generally had immaculate compatibility with at-the-time modern Windows PCs given that they were built with their usage in mind, I've seen a fair chunk of reviews stating that the Series S and X controllers CAN tend to have many connection issues with Windows 7, 10, and 11 PCs because... Reasons? Microsoft apparently dropped the ball hard with ensuring that they were fully compatible with PCs.

I also need to invest in a decent USB adapter. Although I could also use a different controller for fighting games specifically since I've found the Pro 2 incredibly inconsistent in that regard. It just doesn't seem to register the usual quarter-circle and z-input motions properly on both d-pad and stick, as I've seen in a couple of games' input viewers.
